I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this super premier show. I had some excellent dogs to assess, and the terrier groups were a real joy — even if a little warm at times. A huge thank you to all the exhibitors who ventured out mid week; it was a true pleasure to judge your dogs.

1st Place 1013 - Lindcoly Miss Minnie at Airytykes (Miss R Tester)

Keen and alert 15 month old bitch, full of enthusiasm, and alert to her handler. Slightly longer cast in profile when stood, but she maintains a pleasing outline. She has a pretty, well balanced head with a dark, expressive eye. Good length of neck, leading into a firm, well held topline and good tail carriage. Once she settles, she moves with purpose and drive. BOB

1st Place 1021 - Chadbrook Enhance The Dance (Miss S Jones)

Smart 7 year old bitch who presents a workmanlike, honest outline when stood. She has good overall body proportions and is easily spanned. Her head is balanced, with a clean wedge shape, dark keen eyes and a correct bite. I liked her fill of forechest, combined with a good length of leg and a firm, well held topline. She moves out cleanly, and her coat shows the desired harsh texture BOB

2nd Place 1025 - Shemist Storm Lily (Mr N Stock)

2 year old bitch of good proportions and balance. I liked her head, with its clean wedge shape, dark eye and well placed ears. Easy to span, and she shows the correct ratio of body to leg. Not quite the front of the winner today, and at times she tended to lose her topline a fraction. She nevertheless shows drive from the rear. RBOB

1st Place 1060 - Divadell Hesperus, Breed: Scottish Terrier (Mrs S Page)

Delightful 10 month old black Scottish Terrier dog, full of character and charm. He has a lovely length of head, cleanly cut with good depth to the foreface, and his dark almond eyes carry a hint of mischief. Well rounded in rib, holding a firm topline to a well set tail. He uses his strong hindquarters to drive around the ring with purpose. Well presented in a harsh jacket. BP & Puppy Group 2

2nd Place 1053 - Galbraith Galaneia Sametova (Imp Fin), Breed: Cesky Terrier (Mr D & Mrs L Burrage)

Another super puppy; this 9 month old Cesky Terrier bitch certainly puts on a confident performance. She is keen and alert to her handler, showing plenty of enthusiasm. Pretty, balanced head with a lovely expression, and she carries that pleasing blend of elegance with substance. Holding the correct topline and showing good propulsion on the move.

14 month old pepper Dandie Dinmont Terrier dog who, when stood, presents a breed typical, weaselly outline. He has a strong head with a broad backskull and large, dark round eyes giving a gentle expression. Well developed through the body. Not quite the drive on the move today.

1st Place 1057 - Lenacourt Laird Rannech, Breed: Dandie Dinmont Terrier (Ms Npk & Mr Pe Hoskisson & Hinds)

4 year old pepper Dandie Dinmont Terrier dog, presenting the correct profile and alert to his handler. Masculine head with good strength and proportions, large dark round eyes, well placed ears and a profuse topknot. I liked his fill of forechest and strong, well boned limbs. Good spring of rib, moving ok, though tending to fly his tail. Well presented.

1st Place 1061 - Kebulak Mr Marvellous, Breed: Kerry Blue Terrier (Miss J J & Mr A Pretty & Potts)

Upstanding and compact Kerry Blue Terrier dog, just having celebrated his first birthday. A quality youngster who puts on a super performance for his handler. Masculine head with a flat skull and dark eyes that miss nothing. Good length of neck flowing into his short coupled, firm, level topline. Well developed through the body, giving a shapely and balanced outline. He uses his well bent stifles to good effect, powering around the ring with a parallel action. Put down in lovely coat and condition. Best AVNSC & Terrier Group 1

9 month old Irish Terrier bitch of pleasing overall make and shape. Her head is of good length with a flat skull, well placed and well used ears, and a dark, inquisitive eye. Still to fully mature in body, good length of leg and she holds a firm topline with a well set tail. A steady mover.

1st Place 1016 - Nordalset Storming in to Ivrig, Breed: Norfolk Terrier (Miss F J Macartney)

Smart 19 month old black & tan Norfolk Terrier bitch, litter sister to the second placed exhibit, showing herself off to advantage. Pleasing head shape with neat ears and dark oval eyes giving a keen, alert expression. Fairly compact in body with a decent fill of forechest and good depth. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move, showing a parallel, driving action. Coat hard and straight.

2nd Place 1018 - Nordalset Brite N’shiny, Breed: Norfolk Terrier (Mrs Ml & Mr Mj Philip)

Litter sister to the winner, this red bitch has a shapely outline, and I preferred her tail carriage. Similar attributes to her sister, just felt she was not quite as settled on the move today, but still much to admire.

1st Place 1049 - Pasgal Reach Out and Touch, Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Mr G & Mrs L Tomkins)

Strong and sturdy 5 year old Black Brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog who stands foursquare. Totally masculine head, showing a broad backskull and strength in his short foreface, with well developed cheeks. Strong neck leading to a firm topline and well carried tail. Brisket well let down with good width, and standing on well boned limbs. Moving out with powerful drive while keeping his outline.

2nd Place 1050 - Matrixstaffs Moon Dancer at Tidestaff, Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Miss B A Turner)

3 year old black brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier bitch, another pleasing example. Very feminine yet with strength and bone, nicely balanced throughout. Well proportioned head with a good bite and neat rose ears. Ribs well sprung and shown in muscular condition. I felt she was feeling the heat today, as she was not quite as tidy on the move, but still a quality exhibit.

3rd Place 1017 - Nordalset Sea and Skies, Breed: Norfolk Terrier (Ms J Makepeace)

1st Place 949 - Est Etiam Novus Angelus mit Wendaire (Imp Ukr) JW, Breed: Airedale Terrier (Ms W A & Mr P R Edington-Hall & Ballinger)

Upstanding and shapely 2 year old Airedale Terrier dog. He looked the picture of masculinity, in firm muscle tone and put down in lovely coat and condition. His head is long and flat, with little stop and strength in the foreface. Good length of neck flowing into a firm, short coupled topline with depth. He strode out well and true, and was shortlisted in a strong group.

2nd Place 1026 - Vixenview Montero of Shemist, Breed: Parson Russell Terrier (Mrs S Stock)

Workmanlike 4 year old white Parson Russell Terrier bitch. I liked her overall size, balance and femininity. She has an alert expression from those dark almond eyes, with neat well used ears. Good length of neck leading to a well held topline, and she shows a pleasing length of leg. Moved cleanly fore and aft.

3rd Place 1051 - On The Hill Two at Tidestaff, Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Miss B A Turner)

1st Place 1014 - Ch Talanors Time for Fun ShCEx VW, Breed: Manchester Terrier (Mr F Warner)

Fit and muscular 7 year old Manchester Terrier dog, truly fit as a fiddle with no signs of aging in body or mind. He has masculine elegance, from his lovely wedge shaped head and dark almond eye to his long neck flowing into a well held topline with the slight arch over the loin. Brisket well let down, with his forelegs well underneath him, showing thumb marks. Moving out cleanly while holding his outline.

2nd Place 985 - Airytykes Excuse Me VW, Breed: Cairn Terrier (Miss R Tester)

This 9 year old red Cairn Terrier bitch makes me chuckle; she is still so full of mischief and more than willing to play her handler up if given the chance. Another who has defied the ageing process, looking and acting far younger than her years. When standing she presents a balanced outline, with a feminine head and keen expression. She holds a firm topline with a good tail carriage, is presented in a good jacket, and strides out well with drive from the rear.

What a cracking bitch this SFT is, she pushed the Kerry hard for the top spot. Lovely clean lines and so well put together, with a good head, short level topline and a well set, well carried tail. Super parallel movement, driving straight and true.

Very smart 15 month old Irish Terrier dog, showing a super outline when stood, with good substance yet retaining his racy lines. Long head with a dark eye and that characteristic “dirty” expression. Firm topline and good tail carriage. Moving out cleanly with positive, accurate footfall

Good length of neck, well developed in front, and standing on well boned limbs. Good length to his level topline. Moving out well, showing a steady, purposeful action.

Easy to span, holding a firm topline and a good carrot tail. A tidy mover in good coat, showing promise as she continues to mature.

Elegant and refined 11 month old Manchester Terrier bitch. Pleasing wedge shaped head with a dark eye and well placed ears. Good length of neck, with depth to the brisket and forelegs set well under her. A fraction longer in loin at present. Moving with good drive

1st Place 41 - Hernwood Superstition JW (Mr P & Mrs C A Sandiford)

Stylish 17 month old bitch, very feminine with a lovely flow to her outline. Pretty head, unmistakably feminine, nicely proportioned with nearly parallel planes, low set ears and a dark eye. Lovely long neck flowing into a firm topline and well set tail. Needing to tighten up a little more in front but she uses her hindquarters to drive elegantly around the ring.

2nd Place 34 - Rhiwgerrig Caractacus by Melview (Mrs L Hall)

17 month old dog with lovely bone and substance. Handsome head of good proportions, with good depth and clearly defined flews without being overdone. Strong neck, and I liked his well filled forechest and depth of brisket. Not quite as settled on the move today, losing his topline a fraction, but still a quality youngster.

1st Place 39 - Hernwood Eternal Flame (Mr P & Mrs C A Sandiford)

2 year old bitch who presents a shapely outline when stood, with a lovely flow to her and plenty of bone and substance while retaining her femininity. Skull shows the slight rounding, with a good stop and a dark eye. She is well developed in forechest and deep in brisket, standing on well boned limbs. Firm topline and long from hip to hock. Clean on the move.

2nd Place 43 - Hernwood Lunar's Gin (Mr P & Mrs C A, Mrs N Sandiford & Jarvis)

5 year old bitch, and I liked her overall size and femininity, which she combines with the right amount of strength. Pretty head, with low set ears framing her face and kind, gentle dark eyes. Moderate neck, though today tending to lose her topline a fraction. Hindquarters show a nice bend of stifle. A tidy mover behind, showing drive.

1st Place 40 - Hernwood Rocket Man JW (Mr P & Mrs C A Sandiford)

Upstanding 2 year old dog and litter brother to the limit winner. He is still very much a teenager in certain ways, yet already quite mature in others. He portrays an image of masculine strength, with super bone and substance all through. Proportionate head with parallel planes, good stop and depth to the flews. Strong neck of good length flowing into a firm, level topline with a good tail set and carriage. I admired his well filled forechest and depth of brisket. It was on the move that he truly shone, a lovely, easy gait, true and parallel behind, and keeping his shape in profile. BOB delighted to see he was shortlisted in a huge group

2nd Place 42 - Sh Ch Hernwood Luna Eclipse JW (Mr P & Mrs C A, Mrs N Sandiford & Jarvis)

Wow, what a cracker. I couldn’t quite believe it when her handler told me she was 11 years old, she was prancing around like a teenager and absolutely raring to go. Sound in construction and typical in outline. Lovely headpiece, virtually no grey, with a dark, kind eye and low set ears. Enough neck, with a well developed forechest and brisket down to the elbow. Today just tending to roach her topline a fraction. Long from hip to hock, with a good bend of stifle and low set hocks. Moved with enthusiasm and precision.RBOB

Very sweet and happy 11 month old tri dog with much to admire. Liked his overall body proportions; he is fairly compact with a pleasing flow through his neck and topline. Head is attractive, with a domed backskull, large dark eyes and low set ears. As expected at this age he is still to develop in body, yet he holds a firm topline. Moving out well for one so young, just tending to fly his tail a little at present.BP

1st Place 596 - Marchog Make Way for Ellinghurst (Mr P & Mrs S Boyer)

Delightful 14 month old ruby dog, maturing along the right lines. Not always giving his handler an easy time, but he showed his qualities. Appealing head, well domed with a good rise to the skull and correct underjaw, his dark eyes giving a kind expression. Good length of neck to a firm topline; I liked his well developed forechest with depth to the brisket. A happy mover, showing a lovely outline in profile. Presented in a rich, straight chestnut red coat. BOB, and shortlisting in a strong group

1st Place 592 - Helmajon Sibelius (Mrs H Abbott)

4 year old well broken Blenheim dog, such a happy chap, and it showed in his deportment around the ring. Pleasing head shape, with a good domed skull, a correct turn up and wide nostrils. His large dark eyes are gentle yet hold a hint of mischief. He has enough body and depth, and he carried himself around the ring with a regal poise, not quite as settled fore and aft.RBOB

1st Place 595 - Ellinghurst Miss Saigon (Mr P & Mrs S Boyer)

8 year old well broken tri bitch, compact and very feminine. When standing she presents a cobby, well made outline with good substance yet still refined. She has a pretty head, skull well domed with a square muzzle, and large dark adoring eyes framed by her low set ears which enhance her soft expression. Forechest is well developed with pleasing depth; I would prefer a touch more length of neck, though she holds a firm, level topline. Not quite as tidy on the move today as her kennel mate

2nd Place 591 – Helmajon Rhapsody In Blue (Mrs H Abbott)

4 year old tri dog with a confident demeanour. A sturdy, well built male who has good substance. Masculine head, not quite the domed skull of the winner, but carrying a pleasing expression from his dark eyes. A little longer in the loin, yet his forechest and depth are commendable. Front action a touch untidy today, though he shows lovely drive and strength behind. Well presented and sympathetically handled.

Keen and alert 7 month old black & white bitch, showing herself off to advantage. Really pretty head with even markings that highlight her large, well placed ears, dark eyes and good pigmentation. She has a pleasing length of neck leading to a firm topline and nicely arched tail. Well bodied for her age, with the promise of more to come. Moving lightly and with style. BP

Smart 17 month old red sable & white dog, looked a picture on the stack, standing foursquare and devoted to his handler. Handsome head with a dark eye and fine muzzle. Good length of neck leading to a firm, level topline and a well carried plume of tail. Well developed in body, fine in bone, with strong hindquarters that give him the power to drive around the ring. - RBOB

2nd Place 617 - Ookiimimi Unique Gift (Mrs J Nash)

Black & white bitch just out of puppy by a couple of days. Another very attentive youngster who shows a pleasing outline when stood. Very dainty and feminine, giving a lot away in maturity to the winner today. Feminine head with a lovely dark eye, good pigmentation and large ears. Not quite the development through the body as yet, though she holds a firm topline with good tail carriage. Lovely flat, fine silky coat. Moving with a light, easy side gait.

1st Place 612 - Spinillons Rebel Alliance (Mrs J Davidson-Poston)

Lovely 2 year old tri bitch, a real eye catcher for her overall balance and daintiness. Balanced head with good proportions, finely pointed muzzle, dark eyes and well fringed ears enhancing her feminine appeal. Under her long silky coat is a bitch with the right amount of substance, showing a nicely filled forechest and depth to the brisket. Holding a firm topline with good tail carriage. She lightly strutted around the ring as though she owned it - BOB

2nd Place 622 – Feyeta’s Jellybean (Mrs S Turner)

2 year old red sable & white bitch, liked her overall size and femininity. Her head is well proportioned, with large, well feathered ears, a dark round eye and fine muzzle. She holds a firm topline; would just like a fraction more length of neck for complete balance, leading to a well carried tail. Enough depth and ribbing. Good side gait on the move, showing an easy, flowing action.

Stylish and dainty 3 year old tri bitch with much to admire. Pretty head showing good balance and proportions, with lovely fringed ears and dark round eyes. She holds a firm, level topline both stood and on the move, standing on finely boned limbs and hare like feet. Liked her body, with good ribbing and depth. Looked lovely in her side gait, though not quite as tidy behind today. Beautifully presented and in full bloom.

2nd Place 614 - Ookiimimi Quicksilver (Mrs J Nash)

Shapely silhouette on this 4 year old black & white bitch. So very feminine, with a proportionate head, fine muzzle and lovely dark eyes. Good length of neck leading to a firm topline and a well set, well carried tail with a lovely plume. Not quite the body of the winner. Moving out freely and with purpose, and presented in a flat, silky coat.
