Durham County Canine Association Saturday 11th July 2026 

Held at Tanfield Lane Farm, Stanley Co. Durham.

The weather was kind and not too hot; exhibitors brought plenty of shade in the form of gazebos.

Thank you for the very kind invitation; I was delighted to be with you on this lovely day. To keep things running smoothly, I had the very efficient steward David Robins.

Bulldogs – 1. Ross – Glezgabullz Hierarchy – 13 months old and still has some growing to do. Flat forehead with some wrinkle, defined stop and furrow. Eyes set in line with stop, clean, round and dark in colour. Sufficient width to jaw and nicely rounded cheeks. Muscular neck of moderate length. He had plenty of bone to his legs and finished with well-knuckled, round feet. His chest was full and wide with well-sprung ribs and a short loin. Slight arch over loin. His hindlegs were well boned and slightly longer than fore with a slight bend at his hocks. His coat was fine in texture, short and smooth. BoB 2. Bannister, Bannister, Peebles & Kirkwood – Andlare Eenie Meanie – Just out of puppy. Pleasing slightly more underjaw than 1. Muzzle short and broad with an upwards turn and depth. Large black nose with open nostrils. Moderate neck length, well-muscled. Compact body with well-sprung ribs. Not as clean on the move. O. 1. Peebles & Kirkwood - Weebullz Amazing Grace – a veteran girl just. She had plenty of bone and very good tight feet, round and compact. Short muscular loin with a rise complemented by a clean tuck-up. On the move, she was steady, skimming the ground.

Fch Bulldog

Puppy. 1. Oschalben Oh My – Ward, Ward, & Hutchins – Small and compact. Well-proportioned head and well-set on medium-sized bat ears; she had a clearly defined stop, and dark, round eyes of moderate size on the same level had her stop. Correct, slightly undershot mouth with straight teeth, and ample depth to jaw. She had plenty of muscle, although a deep, well-rounded rib cage. Clean underline and sufficient tuck-up. Her rear was strong with moderate angulation. She was sound on the move. BP 2. Chelmbull Fool Me Once at Zilnor – Fawcett, Fawcett and Smith – Barely a week between these two, but all the difference in growth. She has bags of potential. Well-shaped square head with dark round eyes, correct dentition, and a black nose with wide-open nostrils. Strong neck of moderate length and muscular. Her chest was full, although needs a little more depth to bring her back into balance. She has the bone to carry muscle development and moderate angulation. She moved at a steady pace, flowing and free. Jr. 1. Oschalben Obsession – Hutchinson – Litter sister to winner of puppy. This young lady moved better, which gave her Best of Breed and Best Puppy. She was well boned throughout, compact and muscular. Her ears sat high on her head, wide at the base and rounded at the top, carried upright, catching all that was going on around her. Her eyes were bright and round of moderate size, placed on a line with her well-defined stop. Her mouth and underjaw were correct with a slightly undershot dentition. Moderate neck length, powerful and well-arched, well-filled chest and ample spring to her ribs contributing to the cobby compact shape. Strong back with a gentle rise over her muscular loin, clean underline. Moderate hind angulation with short, well-down hocks. She moved with ease, free and flowing. In the Puppy group, she achieved a well-deserved 2nd. 

Chow Chow 

PG. 1. Nowtina Cee You’re a Klassic at Kwangchow JW – Hunt & Oliver – Just turned 2yrs and looking very mature. Proud, dignified-looking girl full of femininity. Pleasing head that had a flat skull with good breadth, well-set small thick ears that were tilting forwards following the line of her short, muscular neck. Her eyes were clean, dark, and oval in shape, giving the required scowl. Her mouth had good, strong pigmentation and a clean scissor bite. Well-laid shoulders that were muscular; legs had ample bone and substance to small, round feet that were well-knuckled. Her chest was full and deep with a good spring to her ribs; short, muscular loin that was powerful. Her topline was strong and level and finished with a well-set tail that was full and carried over her back. On the move, she had a short stride which skimmed the ground. BoB 2. Jayquares Bete Noire at Therttor – Featherstone – Male – Masculine head with a broad flat skull, broad muzzle and nicely set dark oval eyes. I would like slightly more muzzle. His ears were high-set and inclining forwards, softly rounded at the tip with a thickness to the touch. His chest was deep and capacious, as were his ribs, well sprung. He had strong bone to his forelegs with nicely rounded, tight feet. Firm topline and strong muscular loin. His tail finished neatly curled over his back. O. 1. Songshijia Chief Kwangchow JW - Hunt & Oliver – male of maturity. Masculine head with flat skull and well-set ears that were small and thick with a rounded tip. Sufficient length to neck with a slight arch, fitting into shoulders. His chest was not as full, although had a decent depth, firm topline, and short muscular loin. On the move, he appeared to be affected by the sun today.

German Spitz (Mittel)

SpYr 1. Flamuna Sick it and See – Hisslop – Black girl, typical wedge shape with a moderate stop, oval-shaped eyes medium size set obliquely. Clean neck set snugly into shoulders, moderate forechest, sufficient bone to small round feet that were well arched. Topline level and nicely developed loin. She was a little untidy on the move. O. 1. Flamuna Definitely Maybe – Hisslop – 3yr Choc girl, very pretty, feminine throughout. High-set ears, small and triangular, obliquely set eyes with chocolate pigmentation and nose. Her muzzle was of similar length to her skull, giving a nicely balanced head. Effectively boned and tight, round catlike feet. Sufficient spring to ribs and a clean underline to a short loin. To finish, she had a high-set tail curled neatly lying over her back. BoB

Kooikerhondje

PG. 1. Taighmuilne Anam Charaid – Caldwell – A lovely feminine girl nearly 2yrs at the lower end of the size range. Lovely balance to her. Appealing feminine expression from dark brown almond-shaped eyes, complete pigmentation to eyes and nose. Her muzzle was of equal length to her skull, with equal face markings. Nicely laid shoulders and plenty of bone to small, compact feet. Her chest was suitably full and a spring of rib, slightly tucked up with a muscular loin. Moderate hind angulation with well let down hocks. On the move she was brisk and flowing. Her coat was in super condition with desirable black ringlets. 2. Middanwinter Trojan Horse – Brook – This boy was clearly masculine in expression, with dark almond-shaped eyes, ears set just above eye level and well feathered and pendant. Muscular neck flowing into topline, depth of chest and sufficient spring of ribs. His tail was held a little above his topline and had good feathering to it. On the move, he was busy and not as flowing. 

O. 1. Papikoi Time Out – Brook – Mature masculine of 10yrs. He was in super condition and a credit to his owner on keeping so fit and well. Head of correct proportions with ears that were slightly above the line of his eyes, which were deep brown and clear. Ears that were set well and pendulous, finished with black earrings. Well-laid shoulders and close elbows with well-fitted forechest, spring to ribs. His clean, gently rising underline and muscular loin. Well feathered forelegs, hindlegs and tail. Neatly proportioned orange-red patches, with correct facial blaze. On the move, he was light and flowing with a spring in his step. BoB. 2. Taighmuilne Anam Charaid – Caldwell – as PG. 3. Miniature Schnauzer

Sp Yr 1. Wlanimu’s Luck Favors the Bold for Igglewick (Imp UKR) – McGarrigle - Nicely presented youngster in muscular condition. Strong Masculine head, with medium stop and well-developed cheeks, dark oval-shaped eyes. His ears were set neatly high, dropping forward in a V shape. His neck was strong and muscular. Straight forelegs with ample bone to feet that were round and catlike. His ribs had a good depth, spring, and reached well back to his short, muscular loin. Ample hind angulation giving a free, vigorous stride with a powerful driving action. BoB. 2. Wlanimu’s Prosperity Path with Tammux (Imp) – Beckson – This puppy has bags of promise at 8 months; he has time on his side. He needs to build up his muscle tone. Plenty of bone with pleasing tight round feet. A little close on the move today. BP 3. Jansad Pretty Amazing Grace – Collins

PG 1. Wlanimus Marked for Greatness With Tammux (Imp UKR) – Beckson – His chest was full and deep with a nice spring of ribs to a short muscular loin. He moved out with ease in profile. He needs a little more time to develop. 

O. 1. Oldbashurst Ha Giang – Collins – 2yrs this black Girl looking very smart and eye catching. Very well presented. Pleasing feminine head and expression. She had oval eyes of medium size and dark. Medium stop and prominent eyebrows with matching moustache and chin whiskers. Muscular neck into shoulders with a firm topline held on the move, her tail set was high and carried well. In profile she was free with a good reach driving from behind. 2. Arkangath Zola Bud – Whitcombe – Mature girl who carried a little extra over her shoulders today. Feminine head with well-developed furnishings, pleasing V shaped ears set high, flat skull and nicely developed cheeks. Muscular neck with a slight arch leading to a firm topline. She moved around the ring at a steady pace. 3. Tammux After Dusk – Beckson.

Poodle (Standard)

PG. 1. Highla Dream Machine – Burton – A very smart boy of 3 yrs. Well balanced and elegant. Long fine long head, with moderate stop and appropriate chiselling, almond shaped dark eyes. A good length of muscular neck into shoulders that were nicely laid back. Straight forelegs to a slight spring at pastern and tight, small well knuckled oval feet. He had a well filled chest and agreeably sprung ribs with a short muscular loin. On the move he showed a driving free action. BoB 0. 1. As PG

Poodle (Toy) 

Pg.1. Afterglow Ed the Ball TAF – Draper & Dimery – This 3yr old male was a little overwhelmed today. He was a good type with balanced proportions. Fine narrow head with almond shaped dark eyes, length of muzzle to skull in balance, plenty of neck length and well filled chest and enough spring to ribs. On the move he was showing himself well, with a free, light stride that won him BoB. O. 1. Afterglow Alfonse - Draper & Dimery – Well-made boy, elegant and proud. Pleasing masculine head of suitable proportions, enough chest and spring of ribs, a little short in loin. 

Tibetan Terrier 

Sp Yr 1. Rogspa’s Got Yer Back JW – Pettit – B/W young boy, suitable size, square in outline. Giving a balanced presentation. Slight curve to skull and enough stop, well placed round eye dark and clean. Reverse Scissor bite and plenty of underjaw, strong and well developed. Sufficient chest and nicely sprung ribs reaching well back to a muscular loin. On the move he was steady without effort. BoB PG. 1. Rogspa’s Got Yer Back JW – Pettit - as Sp Yr O. 1. Pippalata Overtime Magic – Metcalfe – Mature B/W girl. Pleasing feminine head with dark large round eyes. Muscular neck of medium length into shoulders, plenty of forechest and spring to ribs. Her topline could be a little firmer which finished with a high set tail carried in a gay curl over back with plenty of feathering.

Utility Group.

Group 1 Akita - Rominjay King of My Heart – Simpson – Pleasing upstanding male powerful and alert. Masculine head with a broad skull and small almond shaped eyes, defined stop marking the skull to muzzle in proportion. He moved with power and drive well handle to get the best out of him on the uneven ground today. Group 2 Poodle (Toy) - Afterglow Ed the Ball TAF – Draper & Dimery – This 3yr old male balanced proportions. On the move he was showing himself well, with a free, light stride. Group 3 Tibetan Spaniel – Tibbiestars Time Lord JW – Thomson Group 4. Kooikerhondje - Papikoi Time Out – Brook  

Utility Puppy 

Group 1 Shih Tzu – Mapimakastar Naila Jol Rio – Skawska – This little show girl was full of arrogance as she reached out on the move. Group 2 Fch Bulldog - Oschalben Obsession – Hutchinson – She, was well boned throughout compact and muscular. Well filled chest and ample spring to her ribs. Group 3. Dalmatian – Kelevra Tickle My Trout – Pearson Group 4. Tibetan Spaniel – Talocan Amazing Wizard – Gilling.
