Spanish Water Dog Club 16th Single Breed Open Show.  Thank you to the SWD Club for the kind invitation to judge – I felt very honoured - and to the exhibitors for the pleasure of judging your dogs.

Black and white NBT boy almost 5 months old. Enthusiastic mover but still very raw.  

2. Puppy Dog – 1/0

1ST 23 - Janamorio Northern Zen (Ms J Peart)

Black full tail boy with white bib, just over 6 months. A little unsure, but a common occurrence in the show ring at this age. Excellent male head and good dentition. Moved well in moments, but I’m sure he will excel once he gains confidence. Will watch this one with interest. BEST PUPPY DOG.

1ST 1 - Lendever's Man among Men (Mrs R Capille)

I have judged this dog before in full coat when he was 9 months old and was delighted that my previous findings were still correct. Brown and white NBT boy of 16 & ½ months. Well-muscled throughout, masculine but not heavy. Correct head, kind eyes, with short neck leading into well placed shoulders and good depth of chest. Straight and parallel legs, well under his body, with quality bone and tight feet. Deep brisket, topline held at all times and well sprung ribs. Expected moderate angles, correct 9:8 ratio, extremely well-muscled and shown with correct brisk action. Presented with tight curls of woolly texture. BEST DOG.

2ND 35 - As Good As It Gets Wavelet with Sinduda (Mrs J Wood)

Brown & white NBT boy of 14 months. Nicely made dog, firm under my hands. Good coat texture and curl. Good neck and standing well over front with enough bone. Correct 50/50 depth of chest to leg length and sufficient chest and rib. Hocks well let down. Good side gait with forward reach and driving from rear but didn’t have the front movement of 1. RESERVE BEST DOG

1ST 13 - Cooishka Wake Up Boo (Mrs C & Ms K Glaysher & Thompson)

Brown NBT boy of 2 years. All boy. A little taller than some, but all in proportion and showing excellent movement. Good head with dark eye and strong neck, with good depth of chest. Well sprung rib and strong loin. Balanced with moderate angles and showing excellent condition, with well-muscled quarters, producing brisk movement, with a steadily held topline. Correct textured coat.   

2ND 30 - Perrorizado San Andres for Salvajero (Mrs A C Slaymaker) 

Black full tailed boy of 3 & ½ years. Shown in correct curly coat with striking white chest markings. Slightly taller than the standard but in proportion. Infinitely more interested in the lovely smells on the ground! Presenting a lovely male head with dark pigment and dark eye. Good length of rib and moderate slope to croup. Correct tail insertion. Unbalanced on the move today due to distractions!

1ST 15 - Rainethyme Rerite The Rules for Chanderhill JW (Dr K & Mr M Hodgkinson-Rutherford & Rutherford)

White and brown NBT boy of 22 months. Striking in appearance with a quality coat. Robustly built with an all-male head. Correct skull shape, dark eye and short strong neck. Deep chest and well ribbed. Strong quarters, let down hocks and a correct textured coat. Nice side gait, showing reach and drive with level topline.

2ND 10 - Prizelands in Our Dreams (F Donaldson)

Black with white chest/toes, NBT 6 year old boy. Correctly shaped head with good pigmentation, short strong neck into well angulated front assembly with straight forelegs. Round feet and ribs well sprung. Moderate angulation reflected in rear assembly with good muscle tone. Level topline and carrying a good coat. Slightly smaller than 1st, but all in proportion. Sympathetically handled.

1ST 31 - Sh Ch Janamorio Northern Arlo (Mr A & Mr J Tkaczyk)

Brown & white NBT 5 years old. Masculine and well-muscled, which showed in his movement. Handsome and correctly proportioned masculine head, with short strong neck which flows cleanly into well laid shoulders and deep chest. Straight forelegs with adequate bone. Well sprung ribs and level topline, held on the move. Short but muscular loin which was reflected in his movement, showing drive from his moderate rear angulation, with well let down hocks. Excellent textured and clean coat. Beautifully handled.

2ND 17 - Zorrazo Cool As A Cucumber (Dr K & Mr M Hodgkinson-Rutherford & Rutherford)

Brown short-tailed dog, almost 7 years old. Robust, but balanced and in proportion, although slightly larger than standard. Strong head with solid neck and shoulders, stood well over parallel front. Sprung ribs and firm topline when on the move, with brisk drive and good pace.

1ST 12 - Zorrazo Alter Bridge at Prizelands (Imp Hrv) (F Donaldson)

Brown and white full tail, 7 year old boy, with excellent proportions and balance. Moved very soundly and with brisk enthusiasm. Short, muscular well-set neck and well-angulated shoulder. Deep body with sufficient leg length. Good head / skull and intelligent expression. Correct parallel head planes with oval, expressive eyes. Muscular, well-developed hindquarters and carried topline well. In abundant curly and woolly corded coat, presenting himself well and expertly handled. BEST VETERAN DOG & BEST VETERAN IN SHOW

Brown NBT girl, celebrating her 12th birthday today! Feminine head of correct shape, lovely eye shape & colour, strong reach of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Good bone and fore chest, ribs well sprung, moderate bend of stifle, well-muscled, good coat & condition, moved well. Balanced outline with correct ratios throughout.

White, full tailed 4 year old girl, with beautiful contrasting black pigmentation. Pretty feminine head with excellent expression and dark eye. Short muscular neck into well placed shoulder. Flowing into firm topline with withers fractionally higher and ribs well sprung. Carried a good outline on the move. Uses her wide thighs and short hocks to drive round in freeflowing movement. Excellent coat. RESERVE BEST BITCH

2ND 20 - Zorrazo Xquisite Croatian Perl at Deltoroesta (Imp Hrv) (Miss R & Mr S Page & Robinson)

Brown with white bib, NBT girl about to turn 8 years old. Well-proportioned feminine head. Stood true with good shape with well laid shoulders. Balanced construction but not the movement of 1st place. At little close at the rear but movement belies her age.

Very pretty white with black, NBT girl of 9 months. A delightful exhibit who definitely shone! Balanced outline with 9:8 proportions and a delight to watch on the move. Feminine head with appealing expression. Short strong neck into well laid shoulders. Balanced front and rear angulation. Well sprung rib and natural puppy coat oozing breed type. Gave handler some issues on the move with overexuberant behaviour, but if you can’t do that when you’re a puppy, when can you? Cannot wait to see how she matures. BEST PUPPY BITCH & BEST PUPPY IN SHOW  

 2ND 19 - Deltoroesta Lady of The Lake (Miss R & Mr S Page & Robinson)

Brown & white NBT girl of 8 months. Not as mature in construction or character as 1st place yet, but that will change I’m sure. Movement was driven, stylish and consistent but not as ‘engaged’ muscle tone on the stand.

Beautiful black and white NBT girl of 13 months. My star of the day! Feminine head with correct proportions and dark pigment. Short muscular neck into well placed shoulder. Flowing into firm topline with withers fractionally higher and ribs well sprung. Balance front and rear quarters and excellent muscle tone. Carried a super profile on the move and beautifully handled. Delighted to award her BEST BITCH & BEST IN SHOW.

13. Post Graduate Bitch – 3/0

1ST 22 - Rainethyme River Dancer (Mrs C J Palumbo)

Brown and white, full-tailed 22 month old girl. Feminine head with dark eye and kind expression. Short strong neck into well laid shoulders. Correct 9:8 body proportions and balanced quarters with moderate angles. Held top line on the move and beautifully handled.

2ND 18 - Rainethyme Remember Me (Mrs Sj & Mr M & Mrs C Jarvis & Jarvis & Palumbo)

Litter sister to 1st. Difficult to split them apart as so similar to each other but just lost out on ring presence and not as confident.

1ST 14 - Sh Ch Rainethyme Ever So Special (Mesdames Glaysher, Palumbo & Donaldson)

Brown with white, NBT 3 year old girl. Lovely size and conditioned body. Strong head, dark eyes and short muscular neck. Good depth of chest with correct body proportions. Muscular and balanced quarters. Won this class on her movement which was rear driven, straight and true. Excellent side gait and covered the ground easily, being at one with her handler.

2ND 11 - Prizelands Tickled My Fancy JW (F Donaldson)

White and brown full tail 2 year old girl. Feminine head with kind expression. Strong neck into well laid back shoulder. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Level top line and moderately angled with balanced outline. Well let down hocks. Balanced overall and engaged with her handler on the move.

What a delight to have so many Veteran ladies in the show ring!

1ST 21 - Sh Ch Rainethyme Memory Keeper JW (Mrs C J Palumbo)

Brown and white NBT girl of 8 & ½ years. Excellent condition and exudes breed type with 9:8 proportions. Feminine head with kind expression and dark eye. Correct neck and lay of shoulder with balanced height ratios. Well balanced front and rear quarters, with good muscle tone which was then reflected in her brisk and steady movement around the ring. Level back and engaged on the stand. BEST VETERAN BITCH.

2ND 26 - Sierrasalva's Regalo (Mr M & Mrs S Salvatierra)

Brown 8 & ½ year old girl. Shown in full coat of correct texture. Feminine head, dark pigment, with short muscular neck. Ribs well sprung and good depth to chest. Straight front. Moderate rear angles and held top line on the move.
