Thank you to the wonderful committee who really do go the extra mile for their members and exhibitors for the invitation to judge at your breed open show. I thoroughly enjoyed my day, lovely homemade food, beautiful venue, plenty of space to see the dogs move and a lovely friendly, supportive atmosphere. I have to say the Veterans and Vintage winners really stole my heart.
Class 1 Baby Puppy Dog 4/4
1st Holland and Kerr’s Fan Fan Tulipan Magic Noblesse- Preferred the head and expression of this promising tri baby puppy. Good head shape with correct ear set and beautiful dark eyes. Good bone and substance, good outline and a beautiful true silky coat. Tan in all the right places, good ribs and moved soundly with confidence. Good luck with him. BBPIS
2nd Byers Chantismere Neopolitan – another promising baby puppy who also moved soundly, my notes say best back end in the class. Another with good bone and a good outline. Coat still at the fluffy puppy stage but it was soft to the touch and the markings well broken. A happy boy with dark eyes and the coal like nose pigment. Good luck with him.
Class 2 Baby Puppy B*tch 4/3
1st Spiers Logdallkiss Night Ember -Close up between these enthusiastic litter sisters, absolutely fearless gay and active, with the most beautiful head developing with lovely dark eyes giving a gentle and cheeky expression. Just loved how showy she was and I was really taken with her outline and proportions, well ribbed and short in the coupling. She has an ever wagging tail and great width to her upper thigh, I loved her graceful and sound movement, which just helped her pip her sister to first place.
2nd Spiers Logdallkiss Velvet Dream – beautiful big dark round eyes to draw you in with, loved this black and tan sassy lassy, briming with fearless confidence to make you smile. Great proportions and angles fore and aft. Good spring of rib and width of upper thigh, tan in all the right places and happy ever wagging tail.
Class 3 Veteran Dog 8/7
A good class of veterans, thank you for bringing them
1st Ballie’s Marisk Greatest Showman at Cavalino - A lovely ruby boy who bellies his years, I have judged when he was much younger He stood out immediately, great proportions, well ribbed and short in the coupling, stylish movement and carriage holding his shape, topline and tail well. He has a good head with correct ear set and lovely eyes giving a gentle expression. RBD BVIS
2nd Bibby’s Murrens Jock at Linanste- This boy has really beautiful head with such a gentle expression, so hard to achieve on a ruby. Just couldn’t compete with carriage and movement of first today. Great front action, happy on the move and an ever wagging tail.
Class 4 Minor Puppy Dog 1/1
1st Waters Sweetbriar Stirling- Beautifully presented raw puppy with a head that has lots of developing to do. Dark eyes and outstanding nose pigment. Good neck and shoulders, short in the coupling, great width to the upper thigh and a Blenheim spot. Happy boy, who already knows his job well but for me I just wanted more bone and substance even at this early stage.
Class 5 Puppy Dog 3/3
1st Gibb Stuart’s Narayden Presley at Tangledwood- A naughty wriggly 11 month old black and tan who won the class on conformation and balanced outline. He has a head that is still developing but it is a good shape and he has lovely dark eyes. He has a long and silky coat of correct texture. He has good neck and shoulders and rear angles and glimpses of good movement could be seen. I just hope he settles and gains more substance.
2nd Hamilton’s Mariposa Cavalier’s Pico Bello at Hamhoggs (IMP POL) - A 10 month Blenheim puppy with a beautiful head and eye, at this moment in time his body and head are at different stages. He has good ribs and width of thigh. He’s a happy boy and good rear movement was noted.
Class 6 Junior Dog 3/3
1st Kerr’s Caramoone Canadian Club at Kinvaar - In he walked and I knew he was going to be the one to beat. Such a wonderfully balanced outline, which reminded me of another dog from this kennel and I wasn’t surprised to later find he was the grandfather. Such a classic cavalier stood and moving with his ever wagging tail and his clear need to please his mum. He has a beautiful head of such a good shape for his age, well filed under the eyes, darkest pigment and beautiful large round dark soulful eyes, correct ear set and really well feathered ears that frame his face. He has a great neck and shoulders ,heart room and spring of rib. He is short in the coupling, which for me is so important to achieve a correct outline for this breed. His coat is silky and long and glamorous has a well-rounded rear and great width of thigh. On the move he had style and carriage and carried his tail correctly. I have never seen him before at shows which is a real shame as he is an absolute cracker and so correct for size. I loved him and couldn’t wait to look up his breeding. BIS
2nd Spiers Kinvaar Imperial Flame – A very nice tri boy with beautiful head qualities, unfortunate to meet 1st today. A well broken coat which is so hard to achieve in this colour. He is a touch longer in the coupling than the winner and doesn’t yet have the finish of coat but a lovely boy with a sweet disposition.
Class 7 Maiden Dog 1/1
1st Water’s Sweetbriar Stonaway - Shorter coupled than litter mate, lovely quality coat that is well broken. His head needs time, excellent pigment, dark eyes that I would prefer to be bigger. Good neck and shoulders, width to thigh lovely feet noted. Moved well just too narrow all through for me.
Class 8 Novice Dog
1st McKeracher’s Brymarden Cool Breeze - Up for size Blenheim dog with a truly beautiful head giving a gentle expression, really sound on the move, great depth to the rib looked great in profile holding his topline. Better coat presentation could show off this dogs qualities to advantage.
2nd Groat’s Dalvreck One In a Million – Lovely size and proportions on this Blenheim dog enjoying learning the ropes at his first show. Good head shape, correct ear set, dark eyes and pigment Welcome I hope you enjoy the hobby and keep going.
Class 9 Graduate Dog 3/3
1st McKeracher’s Brymarden Cool Breeze- see winner of Novice dog
2nd Hood’s Rabymar New York – Nicely proportioned dog stood. Good head qualities, lovely dark eyes, just not as gentle in expression as first . Good depth and spring to rib and width to thigh. Nice depth to ruby coat colour .
Class 10 Post Graduate 4/3
1st Holland and Kerr’s Ard-na-said de los uridos Kodiak – Black and tan , with good head and eye, stood this dog had a lovely outline and proportions although still a bit giddy in the ring. Lovely neck and shoulders and a beautiful silky coat.
2nd Bibby’s Muran’s Jock at Linanste – see 2nd in Veteran dog
Class 11 Special Post Grad (Black and tan or Ruby Dog)
1st Bailey’s Marisk Groban at Cavallino – Loved the outline and proportions of this Ruby dog. Best movement carriage and topline in the class. Great ear set, dark eyes and really well feathered ears to frame his face. Great spring of rib and short in the coupling. A happy showy boy.
2nd Bracken Gold at Fraskye- I must admit I preferred the head and eye of this ruby who has a lovely depth of colour to his ruby coat that has a true silky texture. Good ribs and an ever wagging tail to finish the picture.
Class 12 Limit Dog 3/2
Two nice boys here.
1st Legolas Aldaha Gold at Lyncraeg – A lovely dog with a balanced outline and a beautiful head, round dark eyes giving a truely gentle expression which im sure is very hard to say no too! He is well filled under the eyes and really well feathered eyes that frame his sweet face with correct ear set. Good angles fore and aft, my only criticism is I would prefer more heart room, he is very showy and was happy to finish the picture with an ever wagging tail.
2nd Hamilton’s Kringleholme Continental -Gorgeous headed dog with lovely eyes and coal black nose pigment and correct ear set, just like his Father who I absolutely loved. He had great heart room, has a well broken coat and good width of thigh. He was confident and well trained and a credit to his owner.
Class 13 Open Dog
1st Byers Braemarra Taylor and Linetive – a dog I have judged before in his youth, 10 years old now and still looking good. Lovely eyes giving a sweet and gentle expression. Great angles and moves with an easy gait holding his topline. He has a well broken coat and an ever wagging tail showing he loves his Mum.
2nd Hargrave’s Carleny Golden Button - A gentle soul here, enjoying his day out with his mum. He has lovely eyes giving a gentle expression, big ribs, well broken silky coat finished off with a Blenheim spot.
Class 14 Special Vintage Dog or Bit*h 6/5
1st Gow’s Grajenco Macchiato at Lyncraeg - Stunning ruby girl who at 11 years old was giving the ringside a masterclass in how a Cavalier should move, such elegance and grace. Gorgeous head and lovely large dark eyes. Absolutely delightful temperament. She has great proportions and still holds her topline. Great mover from all angles, super waggy tail, she must be pure pleasure to own, I just loved her and enjoyed looking up her breeding. I also enjoyed getting a kiss at photograph time too!
2nd Caldwell’s Kathysgirls Jaegar with xety – nearly 11 black and tan male – Good head with bright tan markings and lovely dark eyes and darkest nose pigment. Really good front action . Unlucky to meet first.
Class 15 Veteran Bit*h 0/0
Class 16 MPB 1/1
1st Henson’s Craigelvan’s High Society - Raw, sweet, baby girl of just 6 months. Lovely dark eyes and coal black nose pigment and good dentition. A touch too narrow for me but she has some width to her thigh and a good front action and at just 6 months she was a happy show girl.
Class 17 Puppy Bitch 0/0
Class 18 Junior Bit*h 3/3
1st Kerr’s Kinvaar Airy Fairy - A tri lady with a good head shape for age and lovely dark eyes, excels in bone and substance and the most forward in the class. She has a truly beautiful well turned out silky coat, she has great ribs and is short coupled. I observed good width to her thighs, she moved out soundly and was a super happy show girl.
2nd Spiers Kinvaar Strawberry Tart - Stunning ruby who made me smile with her delightful active energy and character . Beautiful eyes that draw you in and a lovely outline with nothing to hide, although a touch longer than the winner, lovely coat quality and depth to colour, really good on the move with a great back end, loved her she just needs more time to mature but a truly exciting prospect who has it all to come.
Class 19 Maiden 1/0
Class 20 Novice 3/1
1st Spiers Cempa Hotel Transylvania- Stood alone but lots to like about this little 15 month black and tan lady with a lovely head and eye, such a great outline and proportions, perhaps spoilt by carrying a bit too much weight, which hid her really good neck and shoulders. well ribbed, short in the coupling and had a lovely round rear and great moderate bone and substance and great width to her upper thighs. Moved out really well with style. Loved her.
Class 21 4/3
1st Hamilton’s Invincible Angel Magic Oak at Hamhoggs (JW, IMP POL) -Easy class winner here, lovely sweet headed Blenheim, wide blaze and dark eyes, classic head shape and correct ear set. Lovely angles and so clean at the neck and shoulders. She holds herself so well stood and on the move. She is elegant and graceful on the move. Really liked her. RBB
2nd Mccue’s Kathysgirls All Hollows Eve - Sweet ruby, moved well, lovely eyes, well bodied, moved with drive, good feet noted.
Class 22 Post Graduate 2/2
1st Craney’s Sweetbriar Moonstone – Really liked this little Blenheim lady who is of ideal size and has an excellent handler .The sweetest head with lovely dark eyes, she has real curves to her head. She is really well constructed, correct width and heart room, lovely silky coat, which would really benefit from hand stripping the dead coat out with to reveal more of her beautiful outline in profile, particularly around the neck and shoulders. She has great width of thigh and moved really well, gorgeous well padded feet, I really liked her and though she might be my RBB but today it was the carriage in the final go round that lost her that reward. I’m sure she is destined to do really well. I thought she was a bit special.
2nd Bibby’s Stonepoint treacle toffee – a naughty black and tan lady, active and energetic and out to have a good time! With some weight off and some attention to her grooming this little lady has got it going on. A really sweet head and expression, with a hint of naughtiness. Well made and ideal proportions. I loved her attitude!
Class 23 Special Post Grad (black and tan and ruby) 4/2
1st Finlay Kirkwoods Ellemich Love and Roses at Marisk -Super sweet headed feminine black and tan oozing charisma and charm and lots of active fizz. Loved her size, nice outline, short coupled, profuse coat that would really benefit from hand stripping out the dead coat to reveal more of her outline. Happy to please and a real ability to make you fall in love with her. Made my shortlist to my final four. A real sweetheart.
2nd Whites Sweetest of All Carleny – Stronger female with a good head and beautiful eyes, good angles, moved well and had lovely depth of colour to her coat.
Class 24 Limit 2/2
1st see winner of Special Post grad
2nd ??? Blenheim who for me is too big and plain and strong in the muzzle. However she is a sound and happy girl and was well handled.
Class 25 Open Bit*h
1st Tremains Bonitos Companeros First Class (IMP DEU) -Quality lady who I have judged before and has everything in moderation. A beautiful head with large dark eyes, she has great angles, so clean in the neck and shoulders making for an elegant outline, she has great ribs and width of thigh. True silky coat that is well broken. On the move she is graceful, covering the ground, holding her topline, topped off with correct tail carriage, moving well from every angle. She is beautiful and she has a special relationship with her handler which is heart-warming. BB RBIS BOS
