Very many thanks to the Committee for their invitation to judge at their summer show and their excellent hospitality. Many thanks also to my stewards who kept me well organised and most of all to the exhibitors for their entry, I had a lovely day and found some nice quality hounds.
Basenji
Yearling (1,0)
1st & BOB Jardine’s Zulnelsal Star Attraction B. Feminine, balanced and typey red and white bitch, 16 month old daughter of the Open class winner. Smart girl, square in outline with nice head and strong neck into well laid shoulders, would just like a little more upper arm to match. Good level topline leading to short loin and tightly curled tail. Moderate, nicely muscled hindquarters used well on the moved. Moved straight away and really strode out with ease in profile.
Open (3,1)
1st Jardine’s Ch Tadrose North Star B. Gave this girl BOB last time I judged her 4 years ago. She has passed many of her qualities on to her daughter so many of the comments above apply to her too. She is well ribbed back which gives her a slightly longer topline. Once again she moved well to and fro and with freedom and ease in profile. I just preferred the overall outline of her daughter today.
2nd & BOS Jardine’s Woodella Hot Rod D. Another I judged 4 years ago and said at the time he was a credit to his owner and this is still very much true at 11½ yrs old. Happy, masculine and balanced red and white dog, square in outline. Nice head and expression, level topline held well on the move. Nice spring to ribs and short loin. Still showing free and easy movement with drive from behind and enjoying his day. Well done.
Basset Fauve de Bretagne
Open (2,1)
1st & BOB Pocklington-Hall’s Merlin Do Casal Dos Choupos (Imp) ShCEx VW D. Strong, masculine 9 yr old dog with substance. Nice head with correct length to ears leading to muscular neck. Well laid shoulders and prominent sternum. Good spring to his ribs, carried well back with good depth. Strong hindquarters. Coat could be a little harsher. Moved straight to and fro, just needed a little more drive in profile.
Deerhound

1st Pounder’s Kynroan Lindisfeorna B. Typey and feminine 2 yr old bitch. Lovely head and expression with super ears. Well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm, good depth of chest and strong elbows. Would like more width in front which especially showed in her front movement. Shapely topline and nice tuck up. Crisp coat. Well muscled hindquarters with parallel rear pasterns. Moved well away and nicely in profile when motivated.
Open (3,2)
1st & BOB Pounder’s Packway New York New York B. Another typey and feminine bitch with a lovely outline. Very clean through the shoulders and good width to her front with broad, flat bone and strong elbows. Standing on neat feet. Lovely topline with drooping quarters and good tuck up. Well muscled hindquarters with good width to her thigh. A little close out and back but showed lovely strides in profile. Just preferred this girl’s width to her chest and her profile movement today for BOB.
Irish Wolfhound

Nice head with well set and carried ears. Well laid shoulders with good depth of chest, well ribbed back. Standing on neat feet. Well muscled hindquarters. Moved straight to but a little close behind, came into her own in profile with free and easy paces. Pushed hard for BOB but just preferred the strength of neck and upper arm of the Open bitch.

I judged this girl 3 years ago and she is still going strong at almost 9 yrs old. Strong neck into very clean shoulders. Straight front, excellent bone, good depth of chest and well ribbed back. Still standing on strong feet and moving with the freedom and ease of a much younger dog. Pleased to award her BOB. She was pushed hard by my Yearling winner but just preferred the strength of neck and upper arm of this girl. Well done, she is a credit to you.

Sloughi
It was a hard choice between these two lovely bitches for BOB and took me far longer than normal to make that decision, for which I do apologise.
Post Graduate (1,0)
1st Sparkes-McSevich’s Bahar Origen Charm (Imp Svk) B. Feminine, balanced and typey light sand, black masked bitch just over a year old. Pleasing, refined head. Lovely overall shape, moderately angulated with sloping shoulders and matching return of upper arm. Straight front down to nicely arched feet. Open (1,0)
1st & BOB Clark’s Atiqah Origen Charm of Thiefside (Imp Svk) B. Half sister to PG winner and just 12 months older. Many of the same comments apply: feminine, typey and balanced, slightly darker sand with black mask. Well muscled with just a shade more substance and depth of chest than her half sister. Nice head and gentle expression. Moderately angulated with sloping shoulders and matching return of upper arm down to well sprung pasterns. Well ribbed back into short loin. Moved straight to and fro and with freedom and ease, striding out, in profile. She clinched BOB on her maturity and muscle tone, well done.
