Thank you so much to the committee for their kind invitation to judge some of the gundog breeds and the group. The welcome and hospitality was super. Thank you to all the exhibitors, I was delighted with such a lovely entry and so many quality dogs present which made for difficult decisions. Very pleased to hear my Puppy Group winner went on to take Best Puppy in Show - congratulations. My wonderful stewards Martin & Sue kept things moving along apace, thanks for your help.
Cocker Spaniel Puppy
1st, BPIB, PG1 & BPIS Proudler’s Kimapa Kuromi Karrot – what a cracker! Just loved this little orange roan girl of almost 8 months, who was an absolute joy. In super condition and great typical outline. Lovely head with cheeky glint in her eye, well set and well clothed ears. Clean through neck into well laid shoulders and well boned throughout, cat like feet with thick pads. Depth to chest and spring of rib developing nicely with ribs carried back to short loin. Correct topline, well rounded rump, correct set on of tail which wagged continually. Good muscle for her age and well developed thighs and short hocks. Balanced angulation and she bustled round the ring with a typical merry cocker gait, clearly having absolutely the best time ever. Had no hesitation in awarding her the Puppy Group, and she continued taking things in her stride until the end of the day when she pulled it out the bag to take Best Puppy in Show.
Junior
1st Harvey’s Tomerine Night Agent 13 month old black male. Presented a good outline, rear needs to develop still as not yet the rounded rump typical of a cocker. Appealed in head, lovely dark eye, well set and covered ears and typical expression. Good length of neck, well boned all through and neat well padded feet. Correct topline. Tail set a shade low but carried a little high on the move and would prefer more forward reach.
Graduate
1st, BOB & Grp 4 Proudler’s Kimapa Kwackers Kwtch Lovely 2 ½ year old liver roan girl in super condition with a lovely coat and feathering. Well moulded head with balance in skull and correct depth to foreface to display a square muzzle. Clean through neck into shoulders and good bone down to correct feet. Depth to brisket and well sprung ribs, short coupled. Angulation balanced fore and aft and moved positively and truly with drive to secure BOB and Group 4.
2nd Davies Trinant Celtic Cariad. Very sweet lady of 7 ½ years – not that anyone told her that as she did not act her age. Presented a good profile and good through head, neck and shoulders. Correct topline and tail set, good bone and neat feet and in a lovely coat condition. Unfortunately today she was not for carrying her head, finding the ground far more interesting and consequently not displaying the typical bustling movement.
3rd Clark’s Floraadora Moonstone Magic
Limit
1st, RBOB Harvey’s Tomerine Fact Or Fable black male of 3 ½ years. Difficult decision here as this lovely lad wasn’t on top form today and was a little lack lustre on the move, however his overall quality shone through to win him RBOB. In wonderful condition, classic head and dark eye, great through body, everything fitting together as it should, great bone, balanced angulation, and wrapped in a glossy black coat.
2nd Proudler’s Kimapa Kwackers Kalon JW lovely liver roan male of 2 ½ years, litter mate to BOB. Such a confident and happy boy with a stamp of quality about him. Again super head and eye, great neck into well laid shoulders, good bone, legs and feet, depth of brisket, spring of rib and short loin. Today he had a shade less body than first and was crabbing a little on the move which cost him.
3rd Davies Trinant Mint Humbug
Open
1st Proudler’s Kimapa Kwarta Korki lovely young lady of 7 years not that she seems to know it. Another from this breeder who typifies the merry cocker attitude, her whole body being wagged by her tail and thoroughly enjoying her day. Lovely head with great eye and ear, clean neck into laid back shoulders, depth of chest, ribs going well back, well bodied, well boned, well muscled and short hocks and great feet, positively wagged her way round the ring.
Bracco Italiano Puppy
1st BP, BOB & PG4 Russell’s Braccini’s Bit of Crumpet for Fraulynzway. Appealing puppy bitch of 8 months of good type, lovely typical outline when stacked. Long skull, good eye with correct chiselling below, lean cheeks, good muzzle and flew, large nose, super ears. Powerful neck developing as is the muscle in shoulders and thighs. Shoulders well laid, and she held a correct topline both standing and moving which was clean and ground covering with good head carriage.
GSP Open
1st & BOB Russell’s Fraulynzway Lightening Bolt JW dog of 4 years. Liked this boy who looked great in profile. Correct head with balance to skull and foreface, eye could be darker, but good pigment. Powerful neck into well laid shoulder, deep chest, short back, well boned straight legs and neat feet, balanced angulation and correct muscle which allowed for accurate easy movement holding his topline and good head carriage.
2nd & RBOB Whittaker’s Pingarypoint Milkshake ShCEx 6 year old bitch who also presented a typical pleasing outline. Appealing head and expression. Good forehand assembly, correct angulation and good muscle throughout, correct depth and length to body, strong topline held stacked and moving and well set tail. Close decision but the male just pipped her on movement today.
3rd Russell’s Fraulynzway Hayley’s Comet
GWP Puppy
1st, BP & BOB Jones Caldewriver Tiger Lilly via Mustwork bitch puppy of 11 months. What a lovely girl this is, I was immediately taken with her and shortlisted her in the group. So well put together. Outstanding profile, super head, dark eye with intelligent expression, correct balance of muzzle and flew to slightly rounded skull. Beautiful neck into well laid shoulders which flow into her topline. Great bone all through, neat feet. Super forechest and depth to brisket and ribbed well back to strong loin. Balanced angulation and well muscled thighs. Wrapped in a super harsh coat to complete this lovely picture. A tad enthusiastic on the move but settled well enough and covered the ground well to take BOB but was too full of mischief in the groups. What a prospect, I will watch her progress with interest.
Graduate
1st & RBOB Jones Mustwork Maximum Affect. Appealing 2 year old bitch who also presented a good profile, just not quite as balanced as BOB. Good outline, good head, dark eye and high set ears. Correct depth and ribbing, well muscled and good bone with straight legs, slight slope to pastern and good feet. Held her topline and covered the ground well on the move. Good harsh coat.
Open
1st Stamp & Thomas Tynsil Just One Smile Girl of 4 ½ years and a little rangier in appearance. OK head with dark eye and correct expression, not quite the balance being a shade longer in muzzle. Lighter in body and not the muscle tone of BOB. Deep enough in chest and ribbed well back, angulation balanced and held her topline, moved soundly but lacked drive. Coat was a little patchy in places and not the harsh texture expected.
Golden Retriever Puppy
1st, BP, RBOB & PG2 Evans Putjade Popster Balanced dog of 11 months presenting a pleasing outline stacked. Masculine head with dark eye, balance to skull and foreface, good pigment and correct ears. Typical expression. Correct through neck and shoulder into topline. Good depth to chest and well ribbed. Correct depth of body to leg length and good bone to neat well kept feet. Holds a good topline and has balanced angulation fore and aft, moved out cleanly and positively, with a ground covering stride and good tail carriage. A lovely prospect.
2nd Pietrykowski’s It Takes Two Anarchia Box Wondertemple (Imp Pol) 10 month male who is also good in profile. Appealing had with dark eye and pigment, well placed ears and strength in neck, well boned and stands on good legs and feet. Well bodied, Good depth and ribbing, good angulation well set tail, just lost out on the more positive movement of first.

2nd Campion’s Fenpinque Royal Glow pretty girl of just over 12 months presented in good coat. Not quite so balanced in profile being a little heavier and therefore looking a little shorter in leg. Good forechest, balanced angulation, well boned legs and good feet. Moved OK but not quite the reach and drive of first.

1st & BOB Greenhouse’s Tyloulabella Avicii 3 year bitch Appealing bitch who looks typical in outline. Carrying the correct weight and balanced in depth of body to length of leg. Broad skull well defined stop, well set ears, good eye and good pigment with correct kind expression. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, corresponding return of upper arm and legs well under body. Deep well sprung ribs and short loin, held her topline well and well set tail. Moved soundly but would have preferred a bit more drive and enthusiasm.
2nd Campion’s Fenpinque Royal Glow
Limit
1st Williams Pantegparish Best Mate Almost 6 year old dog Well presented in good coat and lovely condition. Classic head although would prefer a darker eye, strength in neck which sets cleanly into shoulders which are well laid and well under the body, good depth and length to ribs, short loin, balanced angulation, well boned, neat feet, moved out well.
2nd Lewis Fenpinque Gabriel for Dasmaks 2 ½ year male A nice lad although a shade on the heavy side for me which just slightly detracted his balance. Another with good bone and lovely coat and neat feet. Preferred this boy’s darker eye to first, however he wasn’t quite so positive on the move.
Open

AV Vulnerable Native Breed
1st Crowsley’s Bonnienicht’s Aurora Blaze Gordon Setter bitch of 3 years old. Lovely balanced head, soulful dark eyes, well set ears, good through neck and shoulders, balanced angulation, well boned throughout, good feet. Deep in chest, ribbed well back and slight arch to loin. Long muscular thighs, stifle well bent and short hocks. Lovely coat with clean markings. Group 1 – Evans & McKee’s Labrador Retriever Eastdew Rewrite the Stars with Eminala Wow! What a stunning dog and just one day out of puppy. He immediately took my eye on entering the ring and did not disappoint either going over or on the move. Presented a lovely, balanced outline, standing four square and with correct proportions. Masculine head with kind expression, good eye and pigment, clean skull with well balanced foreface and good depth of muzzle. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders, with corresponding return of upper arm placing legs well under his body. Plenty of bone, straight forelegs and tight, neat feet. Deep chest with well sprung barrel ribs carried well back to a short, strong loin, holding a firm, level topline. Muscular rear with balanced angulation and well set and carried otter tail to complete the picture. On the move he was sound and true, covering the ground well with an easy, free stride, maintaining his topline. A quality youngster with so much to like and a very exciting prospect for the future.
