OPEN SHOW

Sunday 15th March

Judge: JOLANTA GRIGONYTE (DULCEDUCES)

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at this lovely venue. My thanks also go to my hardworking stewards, who kept everything running smoothly despite the rainy weather, and to all the exhibitors for their entries and support.

I thoroughly enjoyed judging the Gundog classes. For me, it is important to assess not only breed type, but also how exhibits are presented, handled and move on the day. I was a little disappointed that some exhibits were not presented to their best advantage, with overlong nails affecting both balance and movement.

Overall, I had some quality exhibits and was pleased with my principal winners.

GORDON SETTER

Post Graduate: 1 entry

1st, RBOB COTTONSTONES RIVER SPRITE Black and tan bitch approaching four years old. A lovely feminine bitch with good head proportions and a pleasing eye expression. Elegant neck flowing into well-laid shoulders. Well-developed ribs and good depth of chest, neat elbows, short muscular loin and good rear angulation. Maintained a pleasing topline and was presented in good coat condition. Moved soundly, covering the ground well.

Open: 4 entries (3 ABS)

1st, BOB DWENSANTINIS DORA OF ARTIIYO Four-year-old bitch who immediately caught the eye. An outstanding exhibit with a lovely feminine head, excellent ear placement and a good length of neck flowing into well-set shoulders. I admired her elegant proportions and overall breed type. Presented in excellent coat condition despite the challenging weather conditions. Well-set tail and shown to advantage. Moved soundly and with style throughout.

1st GWENDARIFF GRACE KELLY Just one year old and a very attractive young bitch. Feminine head with a pretty expression. Well-laid shoulder, level topline and good tail set. 1st, RBOB SWIFTLARK INVINCIBLE (JW) Five-year-old dog of pleasing balance and type. Handsome head with dark eyes giving a kind expression. Good length of neck, deep and broad chest, strong muscular hindquarters and neat feet. Presented in lovely coat and condition. Moved well, although I would have preferred slightly more extension on the move.

Open: 2 entries (1 ABS)

1st, BOB (SHCEX) SWIFTLARK SPELLBINDER Five-and-a-half-year-old dog with a beautiful head and overall outline. An upstanding dog with dark eyes giving a soft expression. Prominent forechest and pleasing body proportions for her age, with a firm topline and good angulation front and rear. Strong feet and shown in excellent condition. Handled well and moved true with a positive stride. A promising youngster whom I look forward to seeing develop.

2nd KOZEL NYERS UMBRA Ten-month-old dog with a lovely head and gentle expression. Good body proportions for his age, well ribbed with moderate tuck-up. Good bone and strong feet.
