POLLARD CANINE SOCIETY Premier Open Show Judge: Miss Jolanta Grigonyte Firstly, I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of Pollard Canine Society for their kind invitation to judge at this well-run Premier Open Show. My sincere thanks also go to my efficient and professional stewards for ensuring the day ran so smoothly. I have to take my hat off to all my exhibitors for showing their dogs in such dreadful weather conditions. Despite the persistent rain, every exhibit was presented and handled immaculately. Thank you all for your sporting attitude and congratulations to everyone. Golden Retriever Despite the difficult weather conditions, I was pleased with the overall quality of the exhibits. There were several quality dogs throughout the classes, all presented in excellent coat condition despite the persistent rain. My thanks to every exhibitor for their sporting attitude and for producing their dogs to such a high standard. Puppy (3 entries, 2 ABS) 1st, BP Cadwst Eternal Ember – Very promising 6-month-old puppy bitch who immediately appealed for her balance, quality and overall breed type. Feminine, well-proportioned head with a soft, intelligent expression and dark eye. Correct length of neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, straight forelegs with good bone and neat, compact feet. Well-developed body for her age with sufficient depth of chest, good spring of rib and a firm topline, giving a pleasing outline both standing and on the move. She stood naturally and showed herself with confidence despite the dreadful weather. Moved positively with a free, ground-covering stride, maintaining her balance throughout. A youngster with much to admire and every indication of a bright future ahead. A worthy Best Puppy. Junior (1 entry) 1st, RBOB Ashbyglen True Colours at Emmabe – Quality 13-month-old dog of excellent breed type who combines substance with elegance. Attractive masculine head with kind expression, correct pigmentation and well-set ears. Strong, clean neck flowing into well-placed shoulders with a balanced front assembly and good forechest developing for his age. Well-ribbed body, firm topline and well-angulated hindquarters giving him a balanced outline. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Moved freely and accurately, covering the ground with good reach and drive whilst maintaining his topline. A very promising young dog who fully deserved his Reserve Best of Breed award. Post Graduate (5 entries, 2 ABS) 1st, Cadwst Song of Spring JW – Attractive feminine bitch of lovely breed type with an excellent overall outline and proportions. Beautiful head with soft expression, clean neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and a balanced front. Good forechest, strong bone and compact feet. Well-sprung ribs, firm loin and correct tail carriage completed a pleasing picture. Presented in excellent coat and hard condition. Moved freely and positively with good reach in front and strong driving action behind, maintaining a firm topline throughout. Her overall balance and sound construction gave her the advantage in this class. 2nd, Bermary Sweet Child of Mine – Another quality bitch of pleasing proportions with an attractive feminine head, dark expressive eyes and correct pigmentation. Strong neck, good depth of chest and well-developed ribs with a level topline and good hind angulation. Moved soundly and showed well throughout. Just lacked the overall freedom, reach and balance on the move of the class winner in today's conditions. Limited (6 entries, 2 ABS) 1st, Astleyford Snowy Bell JW – Beautifully balanced bitch who immediately appealed for her overall quality and breed type. Feminine head with kind expression, excellent neck and shoulder placement, good forechest and well-ribbed body giving a balanced outline. Firm topline, strong loin and well-muscled hindquarters. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Moved with purpose, maintaining a level topline and covering the ground with a free, effortless stride. A quality exhibit who deserved this class. 2nd, Monchique Dragonheart for Emmabe JW – Handsome dog of good size and substance without losing breed type. Masculine head with kind eye, good pigmentation and strong neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Well-developed body with good depth of chest and strong quarters. Moved with a positive stride and showed well throughout. Not quite as balanced in profile or as tidy on the move as the winner, making this a close but clear decision. Open (6 entries, 2 ABS) 1st, BOB Wheatcroft Rainbow – From the moment he entered the ring he demanded attention through his overall balance, quality and unmistakable breed type. A mature masculine dog presented in excellent coat and hard condition, with a clean, well-proportioned head, kind dark eye and correct pigmentation. Strong, muscular neck flowing into well-laid shoulders with a balanced front assembly, ample bone and compact feet. Well-sprung ribs, excellent depth of chest, firm topline and strong, well-muscled hindquarters completed an outstanding outline. On the move he was balanced and accurate, maintaining his topline while covering the ground with effortless reach in front and powerful drive behind. He combined breed type, construction, soundness and ring presence to stand out from the competition and was my clear and thoroughly deserving Best of Breed. 2nd, Bowbarl Twistnturn – Seven-year-old veteran dog who still possesses much to admire. Good masculine head with kind expression, strong neck, excellent depth of chest and well-sprung ribs. Well-muscled throughout with good bone and compact feet. Presented in excellent condition and moved soundly with positive drive, showing the virtues expected of a mature Golden Retriever. A quality veteran who was simply beaten today by the exceptional overall balance, outline and movement of the class winner. Pointer I was pleased with the overall quality presented. The exhibits were of good breed type, balance construction and sound movement. The principal winners combined elegance with strength and displayed the effortless, ground covering action so characteristic of the breed. Junior (1 entry) 1st, BOB Corotine Velvet Tuxedo –An impressive youngster who immediately appealed for his overall quality, balance and ring presence. Excellent masculine head with the correct expression, clean neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and balanced, athletic outline. Moved with excellent reach and drive, covering the ground effortlessly while maintaining a firm topline. Presented and handled in excellent condition and thoroughly deserving Best of Breed. Post Graduate (3 entries, 1 ABS) 1st, BOB Corotine Velvet Tuxedo – My previous remarks apply. 2nd, Meadowpoint Hocus Pocus JW – Attractive feminine bitch with pleasing head and soft expression, elegant neck, good shoulders and strong quarters. Balanced outline and sound movement. A quality exhibit who pushed the winner all the way and easily change places on another day, but I preferred the winner's maturity and overall balance. Open (3 entries, 2 ABS) 1st, RBOB Sharnphilly Dizzy Blonde at Linosa – Beautiful orange and white bitch of lovely breed type with elegant outline. I like her feminine look, attractive head and kind expression. Elegant neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, balanced body and straight front feet. I like her firm topline and balanced movement. A deserving Reserve Best of Breed. German Wirehaired Pointer I was pleased with the quality of both exhibits, both shown in excellent harsh jackets and sound movement, making my final decision an enjoyable one. Post Graduate (1 entry) 1st, RBOB Ovetil Class Act – Pleasing masculine exhibit with balanced outline, strong muscular head, good pigmentation. Good neck, short loin and correct harsh coat. I would have preferred a slightly more forechest and maintained his topline troughout. Moved soundly. Reserve Best of Breed. Open (1 entry) 1st, BOB Ovetil Troseberry – Impressive mature liver ticked dog of excellent breed type with strong masculine head, excellent forechest, firm topline, powerful hindquarters and correct harsh jacket. I like his harsh weather-resistance coat presented in excellent condition. Moved with purpose and drive, covering ground with ease while maintaining a firm topline. A worthy deserving Best of Breed. Chesapeake Bay Retriever Both exhibits displayed the correct working characteristics, sound construction and typical breed qualities. The both presented in excellent coat condition and handled sympathetically despite the difficult weather. Post Graduate (3 entries, 2 ABS) 1st, BOB Susqudilla Yankee Shadow (Imp USA) – Handsome masculine dog combining substance, strength and excellent breed type. Strong head with intelligent expression, powerful neck, deep chest, powerful hindquarters and firm topline enabled effortless and excellent harsh coat. Moved soundly with purpose and drive. Well deserving Best of Breed. Open (2 entries, 1 ABS) 1st, RBOB Sh Ch Oakmarsh Dancing Diva VW – Beautiful nine-year-old veteran bitch who remains a wonderful example of the breed. Strong neck, balance outline and pleasing body shape retains her quality, strength and femininity, presented in excellent condition and moved soundly throughout. A worthy Reserve Best of Breed. Bracco Italiano . Junior (2 entries) 1st, BP & RBOB Callaiscroft Rodeo Star –Very promising youngster displaying excellent balance, correct proportions and pleasing breed type. Attractive head with a gentle expression, strong neck, good bone and well-developed body for age. Moved confidently with an easy, ground-covering stride. A worthy Best Puppy and Reserve Best of Breed with a bright future ahead. 2nd, Callaiscroft Aurora Star at Hopewood - Feminine youngster with a pleasing outline and attractive head. Correct construction and good movement when settled. Just lacked confidence at times today, but has many qualities to admire and should continue to develop well. Post Graduate (2 entries) 1st, Teverlarni Lucky Star –– Balanced quality bitch with pleasing breed type, feminine head and good expression. Strong neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, good depth of chest and excellent bone. Moved soundly with good reach and maintained a correct topline throughout. I like her overall balance secured the class. 2nd, Teverlarni Who's That Girl at Woodlandblue – Attractive young bitch with a pleasing outline and balanced construction. Feminine head, good depth of body and well-angulated hindquarters. Moved soundly when settled and presented in good condition. Another quality exhibit. Open (4 entries, 3 ABS) 1st, BOB Braccorion's All Or Nothing – Outstanding mature dog who immediately impressed with his balance, breed type and ring presence. Excellent masculine head, strong neck, good forechest, firm topline and powerful hindquarters. Presented in first-class condition and moved with an effortless, ground-covering stride.
