The British Chihuahua Club Sub-Group Open show - 02.05.2026
Thank you to the club for the invitation to judge my original breed at this breed show. What a great atmosphere the show had, accompanied by great weather and plenty of outdoor space with large rings. Thank you to the stewards for keeping the ring organised and flowing. Finally a massive thank you to the exhibitors for your entries of your beloved dogs.

Chihuahua Long Coat:
Baby Puppy Dog (2,1)
1st – Fathers – Okajems Mr Bumble – 5 months old. On first glance he makes a nice shape, with good length of neck and well laid shoulder, level top line and sickle tail. Correct shaped skull with well set ears used correctly. Lovely dark eyes and deepest nose pigment. Scissor bite. Loved his expression. Moved out well. BBPIB
Minor Puppy Dog (5,0)
1st – Rooney’s – Copymear Casanova – 7 months old. He was eye catching on entering the ring with his coat markings and fuller coat. He is more advanced with maturity than the rest of the class with good body condition, spring of rib and level top-line. Good amount of neck, with well laid shoulder as well as good turn of stifle. Good tail set and held sickle. Good shape to skull, again with well set ears used at all times. Round eyes, with good length of muzzle and scissor bite. Scored in this class for his expression and movement. BPD, RBPIB
2nd – Heap & Palmers – Maciendas Akeru God – 6 months old cream. Lighter in frame than 1st. Good shape of skull with lovely dark round eyes and deep black nose pigment. Good muzzle length. Good for size and body, with good angulations to forequarters and hindquarters which helped him stride out on the grass today. Certainly scored on movement but preferred the expression of 1st.
3rd - Heap & Palmers – Maciendas Montu Warrior God
Puppy Dog (1,0)
1st – Halliwell’s – Wilachans Pollyfila – 8 months old. He is a nice shape and size and of fine bone. Good length of neck with level top line. This is accompanied with well set tail held correctly on the move. Fore chest still developing. Good skull shape with correctly set ears which he used well. Lovely dark pigment to eyes and nose. A bit on edge today in the class, but improved on the move. Just needs a bit more time and exposure. RBPD
Junior Dog (1,0)
1st -Rooney & Holland-Smith’s – Starceylon Red Rum – 13 months old. This male has a good shape and in great coat. I really appreciated his rounded apple dome skull with flaring ears. Lovely dark rounded eyes and deepest pigment to nose. Would prefer slightly more muzzle but does host a complete scissor bite. Good angulations to forequarters and hindquarters. Moved out well showing reach and drive.
Novice Dog (1,0)
1st – Clarke’s – Lowenchi The Offering – A confident 15 month old male with good coat of correct texture. Scores for great pigment, full dentition and scissor bite. Good length of muzzle and uses his flaring ears well. Good length of neck and level top line. Moved ok, with better movement going away.
Post Graduate Dog (3,1)
1st – Holland-Smiths – Kirdanchi All That Jaz – 2 year old male in full coat. A lot to like with this male. Good shape to his skull, correct set large flaring ears and lovely dark round eyes. Good length of muzzle and full scissor bite. Good length of neck, well laid shoulder and level top line. Correctly set tail, held sickle on the move and standing. Makes a nice shape on the stand and movement but could do with a touch less weight today. Great expression.
2nd - Heap & Palmers – Chirouxe Little Wonder at Lemaritz – Rounded skull with well set ears. Scores again for great pigment to nose and dark rounded eyes. Correct scissor bite. Good amount of neck and a level back. Just needs to gain more confidence to get the best from him as today was unsettled.
Limit Dog (2,0)
1st – Heap & Palmers - Chirouxe Major Tom – Great shape and loved his confidence and character. Great size with fine bone. Well rounded apple domed skull with well used flaring ears. Good scissor bite but would prefer touch more muzzle. Lovely expression from his dark rounded eyes. Great length of neck leading to well laid shoulders, level top-line and high set sickle tail. Moved out well. Full of breed type.
2nd – Stangoe’s – Stanghurst My Boy Charlie – 18 months old male. Upon first glance he makes a nice shape but looks of larger size and substance. Upon the hands on, he actually is lighter framed under a full coat. Lots to like, well rounded skull, flaring ears and large dark round eyes. Good length of muzzle with scissor bite. Moderate angulations to forequarters and hindquarters and moved out well today.
Open Dog (3,0)
1st – Hills – Jahneemah’s Little Bear with Becanna – 4 year old male, a finished product. Won this class on breed type accompanied with movement. Great expression, dark round eyes, good length of muzzle and scissor bite. Large flared ears set correctly. Good shape to skull. Good length of neck, with good front and hindquarters. Level top-line. Moved out well with reach and drive.
2nd – Stangoe’s – Stanghurst Top Gun – A good size and shape. Loved his skull shape which was well rounded and apple domed. Large dark eyes and scissor bite. Great expression and temperament. Level top-line and correctly set tail. Full of breed type.
3rd – Wills - Dorentys Chuckleberry Fin
Veteran Dog (3,0)
1st – Hills – CH Lynpix The Mexican With Becanna – My surprise of the day. Did I think before today I would award Best Dog to an 11 year old veteran? Well... where to start. His breed type is undeniable. His expression captures you. Loved his apple domed skull, well set ears, flaring. Beautiful dark rounded eyes. Correct length of muzzle and scissor bite. Great shape and size in full coat of soft texture. Correct front with forelegs set well under the body. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders and level top line, leading to high set tail. Spring of rib and correct turn of stifle. On the move, he gave his handler a hard time, he was excitable. In the dog challenge he held himself together and could see his clear movement with reach and drive. On the final look up and down the line up, I could not deny him. BD, BVIB, RBVIS.
2nd – Hargreaves – Tha CH Winchi’s Arnold Noah – 9 year old red and white male. This male has a lovely shape and size and looking great for his age. Good shape to skull and uses his large flaring ears at all times. Good stop, length of muzzle and scissor bite. Nice dark pigment to round eyes and nose. Good length of neck, with good angulations to forequarters and hind quarters. On the move he does excel. He shows his movement off with ease with reach and drive. RBD, RBVD, RBVIB

Baby Puppy Bitch (2,1)
1st – Phelan’s - Okajems Nancy – Petite and feminine bitch. Very raw at this stage but put on a really good 1st show. Nice shape, with flowing lines from neck, well laid shoulders and level top-line to correct tail set. Finely boned. Good angulations to hindquarters. Good skull shape and uses ears at all times. Good length of muzzle and scissor bite. Will be nice to see how she develops. RBBPIB
Minor Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1st – Magri’s – Bramerita Im A Faithful Rozamie – Just turned 6 months old tri colour. What a fabulous little find. Breed type and movement in abudance. Good skull shape with flaring large ears, set and held correctly. Moderate stop with good length of muzzle and scissor bite. Lovely dark rounded eyes, full of expression. Loved her confidence and character. Good length of neck leading so easily into well laid shoulder and level top-line with correct tail set and held sickle. Spring of rib coming in. Good turn of stifle. Moved around the ring briskly and with ease. BPB, BPIB, BPIS.
2nd – Wills – Paulwilchi Polly Willow – Another very feminine and petite bitch. Very eye catching with her parti-colours and sweet expression. Proportionate even with smaller frame. Loved her dark pigment on contrast with the lighter coat. Scissor bite. Dark rounded eyes with enough length of muzzle and moderate stop. Good neck length and level top-line. Tail held sickle. Spring of rib coming in. Finely boned. Moved out well but not matching 1st. RBPB

1st – Hargreaves – Tampico Sweet Dream – 15 months old bitch. On first glance in the ring she has a striking rich red and white colour. Scissor bite and nice dark rounded eyes. Good lay of shoulder with matching angulations to hind quarters. Level top-line and holds tail correctly. Nice shape on the stand and on the move. Scores on the move, flowing easily with reach and drive.
Novice Bitch ( 1,0)
1st – Holland –Smiths – Torre Del Pilar Beso Beso For Kirdanchi – This bitch scores in multiple areas. Good rounded skull, well set ears used correctly. Good muzzle length, moderate stop and scissor bite. Lovely dark pigment throughout. Good length of neck, good lay of shoulder and level top-line with high set sickle tail. Moves out well, but could do with a tad less weight. Otherwise a quality and useful bitch.
Post Graduate Bitch (4,2)
1st – Stangoe’s - Stanghurst Fancy Nancy - 18 months fawn and white. Smaller in frame, pretty and feminine with the most gorgeous head. Moderate stop and good muzzle length. Loved her expression and character. Pleasing dark rounded eyes and deep black pigment to nose. Good overall shape with good length of neck and pleasing angulations to forequarters and hind quarters. In lovely soft coat. Moved out well. Just needs to use her ears to complete the picture.
2nd – Ison’s – Jahneemahs Phoenix At Lynpix – 2.5 year old of larger frame than 1st. Correct rounded apple domed skull with large dark rounded eyes, good stop and muzzle length and scissor bite. Correctly set ears and flaring and showing off typical expression. Not her day today as unsettled in the class.
Limit Bitch (2,0)
1st – Titterrell & Bruce’s – Caballie Madame Blondie – 3 years old with a lot to like. In my notes I’ve written ‘show girl’, as her movement was effortless and she didn’t stop showing the whole time. A real pleasure to watch. Even on the stand she shows off a great silhouette. Correct rounded skull with flaring ears used at all times. Moderate stop and scissor bite. Good length of neck which leads gracefully into well laid shoulder, level top-line and high set sickle tail. Angulations to hindquarters match forequarters. In great coat condition and the correct amount of coat. RBB, RBOB
2nd – Heap & Palmers – Maciendas Magna – Another nice bitch of a striking red colour. Good shape and size. Her head shape is correct as well set and flaring ears. Moderate stop with great muzzle length. Lovely dark pigment to nose and dark round eyes. Pleasing spring of rib, neck and well laid shoulder. Good level top-line and sickle tail. Lovely type but not the movement of 1st.
Open Bitch (1,0)
1st – Entwistle’s – CH Dorenty Textututango – A fully furnished finished product. Full of breed type. Scores for her shape, expression and movement. Always at one with her handler, and is a real character. Textbook head, with well rounded apple domed skull. Correctly set flaring ears which are furnished. Good length of muzzle with moderate stop and scissor bite. Super dark rounded eyes, full of expression. Good length of neck, leading to well laid shoulders and level top-line. High set tail, held sickle at all times. Hosts pring of rib and great front with forelegs set well under the body. Finely boned throughout. In great coat of soft texture and condition. Good angulations to hind quarters with correct turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved out briskly with plenty of drive from behind. Hard to deny. BB, BOB and later with my co-judges agreement BIS.
Veteran Bitch (2,0)
1st – Entwistle’s – Dorenty Fancy That JW – Almost 8 years old. Rounded skull with good ear set and used well. Good muzzle, stop and bite. Sweet expression. A nice shape and size. In good condition and coat with soft texture. Moved out briskly and at one with handler. BVB
2nd – Craggs- Reynoldco Sweet Dreams JW – 10 years old in good coat and condition. Lovely head with flaring ears. Great pigment to eyes and nose. Good muzzle length. Level top-line and good angulations to forequarters and hindquarters. She seemed happier on the move, where she had her tail up and sickle.
