I wish to say a special thank you to my steward, a delightful and courteous young man whose skills and confidence belied his tender age – I wish you many happy stewarding years for the future.

Despite the heat the young handlers did their utmost to show their charges to best advantage and there was lots of evidence that they had listened to advice and practised with the dogs and also found out about them as a breed. I hope that they enjoyed their time at the show and will continue to enjoy a life with dogs.

Handling 6-11 years

1st & best junior and best overall handler Evie-May Smart. This handler kept talking and encouraging her young dog and in doing so had the dog’s attention so was able to ensure the dog showed its qualities. This young lady listened carefully to what I asked her to do and thought about what was needed even when it was new to her; her figures were precise and neat. As well as making sure her dog looked good she was dressed smartly and well groomed.

2nd Anastasia Voutis this young person was not handling her own dog so that gave her an additional challenge but she coped well and shoed good awareness of always presenting the dog to the judge.

3rd Oscar-James Saunders, this was the youngest person entered in the handling classes and it was his first time; he was able to answer questions about the dog he was showing and gained enough confidence to move the dog on his own without adult help – well done!

Handling 12-16 years 

1st Paige Smart This young handler worked hard, speaking and gently encouraging a young dog who could have been a little more attentive and cooperative. As a handler, the young lady showed a clear understanding of how to present the dog, and herself, to the judge.

2nd Luke Saunders I liked the way this young man concentrated on his dog, speaking to it and offer reassurance. 

3rd Lisa-Rose Saunders This young lady tried hard and I could see the intense concentration on her face, perhaps a little smile and focussing more on the dog would give an impression of both control and enjoyment.

Handling 17-39 years

1st & best adult handler, Phoebe Toublic This handler was very precise in how she stacked and moved the dog whilst listening to what the judge asked and delivering it., checking and correcting the dog gently when necessary.

2nd Chloe Jefferies The young puppy was determined to behave as a puppy which enabled the handler to show that it is important to be calm, patient and firm when presenting a dog to a judge - that the show ring is work time.

Handling 40+ years

1st Janet Rice this handler talked to their dog, paid attention to how the dog looked at all times whilst being acutely aware of where the judge was and what they were doing. 

2nd Anita Skinner, similar remarks apply as made for 1st place but placement for presenting the dog standing was not quite as accurate.

Thank you to those exhibitors who participated despite the heat, the long wait and the very last minute change of judge.  

1st Williams & Toublic’s Cobhay Dashing Dandelion JW Nicely presented ESS with good substance. Nicely proportioned head with a kind expression. Well laid shoulders, deep chest and strong body. Covered the ground well, moving with drive despite the heat, keeping a level top line.

2nd Plummer & Bingham’s Araki Krazie Maizie For Tetsikarma JW ShCEx OSW Beautifully presented. Stacked looked sturdy and square – handling confirmed this impression well laid shoulders, good depth of chest and spring of rib, short loin and level topline. Moved with drive. 

3rd Moorcroft’s Amorevita Uranus JW

Reserve Murphy’s Bayard Seal of Approval at Rhosyndu JW
