Tunbridge Wells & District Canine Society

Breed: Siberian Husky

I would like to thank the organising committee for inviting me to judge at this lovely, friendly and well organised show, to my stewards who were efficient and kind, and to the exhibitors for their time and presentation of some excellent, fit and well-constructed Siberians. Every dog demonstrated sound, balanced movement, even in the warm conditions. I was spoiled for choice, and placings could well have gone another way on another day. Thank you.

Junior 2

1 Susikuu Killer Queen at Snodragon

13 months old and shone in the ring. Lovely proportions on this young bitch especially for her age. Presented in lean, muscled condition with excellent double coat. Typical foxy head with keen expression, good ear set and almond eye. Balanced and well angulated, correct croup, resulting in smooth and efficient reach and drive, just floating around the ring with ease. Topline whilst standing was occasionally a little high at the rear but to be excused at this point in development – on the move she was level. So much potential, I look forward to seeing her mature. Very pleased to award her RBOB and see her achieve RBOB Group 3 at such a tender age.

2 Susikuu Let Me Entertain You

13 months old and displaying her cheeky self. Still a very raw youngster with typical husky character who was enjoying her time in the ring. Nicely proportioned, her balanced outline was highlighted by the absence of undercoat today, something entirely to be expected at this time of year. She has a good head and expression, using her ears to advantage. Correct croup and tailset, good feet. At her best, moved freely and with good drive. Shows promise for the future.

Postgraduate 6 (1 absent)

1 Tsaritsa Elva

Rising 10-year-old bitch yet still presenting as a very capable working Siberian. Effortless, graceful and true, sound, ground-covering in movement, reflected in her strong, balanced outline. Excellent front and rear angulation, with correct slope of pastern and turn of stifle. An exemplary feminine head, with beautiful almond eyes, correct length of muzzle and moderate stop. Held a level topline whilst standing and on the move. Just about maintaining a good double coat! Well sprung ribs. Would like to see a little more strength through the loin, but excusable given age and the summer season.

2 Tsaritsas Tucson

6-year-old pie-bald dog with a commanding presence in the ring. Masculine head with lovely ear-set and mischievous expression. Good double coat. He certainly tested his handler today, making it clear he wanted a faster pace and more space to fully demonstrate his ground-covering reach and drive! He moved a little wide behind rather than converging towards a single track. Excellent front angulation, matched in the rear, lovely turn of stifle and good feet, well-muscled especially through the loin. Tendency to sometimes stand with a slight slope to his topline, however croup and tailset are good. Pushed hard for 1st in the class, could easily change places on another day.

Open 6 (1 absent)

1 Tsaritsa Veyron

9-year-old of exceptional quality. Presented in full coat and excellent lean, well-muscled condition, demonstrating the working capability essential to the breed. Instantly caught my eye with his effortless, ground-covering movement, true and sound on the out and back, always showing ease of reach and drive. Masculine head with correct fox-like expression. Uses ears well when working with handler, correct almond eye, muzzle length and moderate stop. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, strong loin maintaining a firm topline on the move and in stand. Well balanced angulation, with good slope of pastern. Ideal tail set and carriage throughout. Good feet. Pleased to award him BOB today and was still on top form when he was awarded WG3.

2 Elleonia Perfect Storm at Snowdragon (AI) JW

Just shy of 2 years old, this bitch was presented in excellent condition and already showing plenty of potential. Handled well, her balanced construction is evidence on the move and confirmed on examination, underneath a dense double coat. Demonstrating true movement with good reach and drive, she is well angulated in the front and rear, with an excellent topline, croup and tailset. Would like to see a little more muscle tone in the loin, which should come with continued maturity and conditioning. Pushed hard for 1st today, I look forward to following her progress.
