Ayrshire Collie Club

Ayrshire Collie Club Single Breed Open Show on Sunday 24th May 2026
Special Award Classes (SAC)
Collie (Rough)

Thank you first to all the exhibitors who entered under me for my first show, and your patience whilst I found my feet was so appreciated. Thank you also to the committee for inviting me and taking a gamble on me. Shout-out to my fellow judge, Jackie Pritchard (Santaviga) and stewards for helping me.

The honour of judging hasn't been lost on me, and the primary goal I had going into this, even though it is essentially a mock class for judges to find their feet, was to keep in mind the goal, the breed, and its adherence to the standard. This breed means so much to me, so being even a small part of its preservation is indeed an honour. My focus was on being fit for function, so the construction and movement of the exhibits played a big part in my decisions, but I was looking for the overall picture of a collie. With that being said, onto my first critique!

Class A - Special Junior - Dog/Bitch: 0 entries

Class B - Special Graduate - Dog/Bitch: (4/1)

1st - CULBRAE CHARMED AGAIN - Watt, Lynda - Striking the right shape and proportion. Skull was a lovely blunt wedge, complemented by that intelligent yet feminine, sweet expression. Everything where it should be at the front, angled to go. She moved well for her handler today. The sweetness in expression extended to her personality, and her overall balance got her the top spot in this class.

2nd - SALSINA LOVE ME DO FOR WHITECRAIGS - Clark Kerr, Dawn - Commanding presence with a beautifully presented coat. Lovely angles aiding in that effortless stride. Rising over the loin and pleasing rear. Feminine but no wallflower I loved how she drew the spectators' eye. Balance of the first place exhibit cost her the top, but it was close.

3rd - BELDONES DANCING IN THE DARK AT BRACOISLA - Shorten, Chloe -

Class C - Special Open - Dog/Bitch: (6/2)

1st - STREGATO FOOLISH GUY FOR DELSEIRIOS - Crawford, Kelly - Impressive picture with that eye-catching gait. Head and expression give the masculine persona that this breed does so well. Larger lad constructed well with angles in the right places. On the move was where he had me moving across the floor so effortlessly. Another case where the whole package came together to secure first place.

2nd - UFFSPRING UNIQUELY MAYD FOR WHITECRAIGS - Clark Kerr, Dawn - Loved this girl, just reached veteran, more than holding her own and still ready to go. Construction-wise, she was impressive, took a little convincing to get going, but when she was moved, striding out well, she was a picture. Her sweet demeanour was compelling. Lovely girl just got piped by first when it came down to the whole package.

3rd - CULBRAE RED AGAIN - Watt, Lynda -
