Pollard Canine Society Premier Open Show – Saturday 3rd May 2026

I would like to thank the committee of Pollard Canine Society for the kind invitation to judge at their show, and my stewards, Kelly Bolsover and Chris Bracken, for keeping the ring running so efficiently. It was a very wet day, but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the exhibitors. My sincere thanks go to all who entered under me and for their sporting attitude in accepting my decisions. It was certainly a challenging day for those with coated breeds trying to keep their exhibits dry.

Shih Tzu

P: (5,0) 1. Thornton’s Norboo De Von. 8-month-old black & white puppy dog. Lovely size and shape. Sturdy and balanced with good depth of chest. Handsome head with warm expression and white blaze. Well-schooled and at one with handler. Good tailset and carriage. Moved with good reach and strong rear action showing full pads. A lovely puppy. BPIB

2. Thornton’s Norboo Dark Aura. 8-month-old black puppy bitch. Litter sister to the winner. Another lovely exhibit with pretty head and good angulation. Lively and alert with large, round dark eyes, warm expression and wide muzzle. Not quite as settled on the table as the winner on this occasion. Moved well.

J: (4,2) 1. Skawska’s Mapimakastar Naila Jol Rio. Just 6-month-old gold & white puppy bitch. Very lively and alert and gave her handler a hard time – a real character! Broad head with round dark eyes, black nose and warm expression. Plenty of coat, well angulated with a good tailset. Moved with plenty of reach and sound rear action.

2. Thornton’s Norboo Dark Aura (see second in Puppy)

PG: (2,1) 1. Skawska’s Mapimakastar Lady Sat Al JW. 20-month-old gold brindle & white bitch. A lovely balanced exhibit with typical chrysanthemum-like face, round dark eye, correct slightly undershot bite and black nose. Plenty of well-presented coat. She has good bone, nicely arched neck and well laid-back shoulders. She has good angles to front and rear and a broad, deep chest. She moved freely around the ring showing full pads on the move. BOB

O: (3,1) 1. Skawska’s Mapimakastar Jasmin Jol Ja JW. 21-month-old gold & white bitch. Presented in excellent condition. Pretty head with warm expression, broad skull and large, round dark eyes. Nice size and shape. Well angulated with ample bone. Level back. Moved with good reach and strong action from the rear. RBOB

2. Moore & Sentineri’s Emerson Alpiu Slenis of Alchez JW ShCEx OSW (Imp LTU). 5 ½ year old black bitch. Beautifully presented with dense coat. Lively and alert. Well balanced with broad head, ample width of muzzle and black nose with wide open nostrils. Moved well fore and aft keeping a level back.
