Thank you to the Society for the invite to judge at this fantastic show that had such a relaxed atmosphere, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the ring, especially the privilege to judge Best in Show. Thanks also to my co-judges who sent through stunning examples in all the groups and it really was down to the splitting of hairs to make some tough decisions.

To the stewards that came and helped all day, thank you too. Everyone was really battling with the wind which often saw prize cards or ring numbers being whisked away!

Yorkshire Terrier Limit (2 Entered, 1 Absent)

1. Hutchinson’s Classy and Sassy of New Deal (IMP HUN) TAF – 8 month old who has a very feminine and pretty head an expression with well set ears that are of a nice size. Pleasing head properties with a nice flat skull. Lovely reach of neck with level topline and well set on tail. She moved steadily and her coat is coming along nicely. Res BoB and Best Puppy  

Yorkshire Terrier Open (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Hutchinson’s Trayshellin Tradition – 15 month old who is a pleasing overall size and shape. She has a lovely reach of neck and a level topline and well set tail and presents a lovely outline both standing and on the move. Lovely dark eye and nose pigment and a pretty head with a well proportioned muzzle. Moved well both coming and going, just needs to body up. BoB

King Charles Spaniel Limit (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Jenkinson & Bowles-Robinson’s Baldragon French Fancy – well bodied and cobby tricolour who was handled well by her young owner. She is an ideal size with large round eyes and pretty head and nice square muzzle and wide underjaw. Medium length of neck set on a level topline and well set tail. Moved steadily at all times would have liked her a fraction shorter in body. BoB

Lowchen Limit (2 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Richardson’s Hollinsclose Wild Rose – what a cracking 8 month old puppy who is an ideal size and shape and is full of mischief. The prettiest of heads and expression with lovely dark eye and nose pigment. Well arched neck and excellent shoulder placement. Nicely developing body for her age and a good short loin. Moved round the ring with ease and grace using her well muscled hind quarters. I really was splitting hairs with her kennel mate. An exciting prospect. Res BoB

2. Sanderson’s Hollinsclose Especially for Danack – litter brother of the winner, presented in a lovely coat of good condition, Pleasing head with nice round dark eyes and nice flat skull. Ample neck and good topline. He is a shade longer in loin than his sister but was overall a nice balanced boy who was full of enthusiasm. 

Lowchen Open (2 Ent, 1 Ab)

1. Richardson’s Arfenco’s Warrier King Ivar for Hollinsclose (IMP NOR) – Another exciting prospect from this kennel who was presented to perfection. He has a balanced and attractive outline both standing and on the move with his well arched neck and proud head carriage. Lovely head with well proportioned muzzle and well set ears and eye placement. He has a level topline and excellent spring of rib and well developed forechest. Loved his free and easy movement which was the deciding factor on the day but I am sure he will change places many times with his lovely kennel mate. BoB, Best Puppy, Puppy Group 3.

English Toy Terrier Yearling (3 Ent, 1 Ab)

1. Pendlebury’s Lasagesse a Kind of Magic for Pendlethrine – 7 month old bitch who has a nicely developing feminine head and expression with a lovely earset that are carried well and deepest dark nose and eye pigment. She has a lovely bone with a good reach of neck and shoulder placement, nice spring of rib and excellent hind quarters that are well muscled. She moved true both coming and going and has a lovely curve to her underline. Best Puppy and Res BoB

2. Pendlebury’s Ettology Stand and Deliver – 8 month old boy who was shown in lovely condition. All over a slightly larger package than his kennelmate but he has a lovely head and expression with a lovely wedge shape head and well set and glaring ears. Moved steadily.   

English Toy Terrier Limit (3 Ent, 2 Ab)

1. Pendlebury’s Ettology Small Gods of Pendlethrine – 2 year old boy who presents a nice outline on the stand. Shown in lovely condition with a lovely dark gleaming coat. Well proportioned head with a good eye shape and placement. Good shoulder placement and depth of chest. Moved OK both coming and going. 

English Toy Terrier Open (2 Ent, 1 Ab)

1. Green & Leonard’s Three Times a Lady – my Toy star of the day my notes say a ‘cracking’ 3 year old bitch who is so unexaggerated, everything about her screams femininity. Shown in fabulous condition with a beautiful gleaming coat and lovely colour to her tan. Lovely shape to her eyes that were dark and sparkling and excellent placed ears of lovely shape. Excellent reach of neck and good lay of shoulder and lovely depth of chest. Loved her gentle curves with a lovely underline and good cut up. She moved round the ring with good extension in the front and drive from her hind quarters BoB and put in a foot perfect performance to take Toy Group 1 and she pushed hard in a lovely BIS line up.

Affenpinscher Puppy (3 Ent, 1 Ab)

1. Panton’s Guereza Fairies Wear Boots for Dunningvale – delightful 7 month old bitch who is the loveliest of shapes and an ideal size. The prettiest of heads with lovely dark sparkling eyes and ideal earset. Short neck leading into good shoulder placement and straight front legs. She has a level topline and a good tailset with adequate hind angulation. She moved with attitude round the ring and with maturity I am sure she will trouble the best. Res BoB and Best Puppy and shortlisted in the puppy group.

2. Lenihan’s Yorcerechi’s Wicked Dream – 6 month old with a pretty expression with dark round eyes of ideal size and a nicely domed head. Ideal bone for her size and a level topline and tailset and good front and rear angulation. Moved well both coming and going, just preferred the shortness of body of the winner. 

Affenpinscher Open (5 Ent, 4 Ab)

1. Panton’s Guereza Goody Goody Yum Yum – a 3 year old boy who I have judged previously and he doesn’t disappoint. Love his overall size and shape with a compact body. He has the correct coat that is of an ideal texture and free from any sculpting. He is built on sturdy lines with adequate angulation fore and aft with ample reach of neck. Medium, round eyes and ideal earset and a short muzzle a nicely domed forehead. He moves out with aplomb with adequate front movement. A real character who took BoB and a group shortlist. 

Griffon Bruxellois Special Yearling (3 Ent, 2 Ab)

1. Wood’s Delightbull Viva La Vida – 10 month old red rough who has the prettiest of heads and expressions. She certainly lives up to the breed temperament of lively and alert. Lovely dark pigment with round dark eyes and well placed small ears. Medium length of neck with good shoulder placement. Level topline and tailset and adequate hind angulation. Needs to settle on the move to complete a promising picture and a little bit more body. Best Puppy

Griffon Bruxellois Limit (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Wood’s Delightbull Cone on Eileen – 2 year old red rough who is well coated with a nice harsh texture. Well off for body with good angulation front and rear, short coupled body with well sprung ribs. Good depth of chest and medium bone. Pleasing head and delightful expression with the darkest of eyes. Moved OK although preferred her kennel mates front movement. Res BoB

Griffon Bruxellois Open (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Wood’s Delightbull Lady in Red JW – another red rough who was presented in great condition with ideal coat texture. Lovely dark eyes with excellent pigment. Her head is of nice proportions and balance with a nice width of skull. Good gone and excellent front and rear angulation with well muscled hind quarters that allowed her to power round the ring. One the move she presents a nice clear cut outline showing off her well balanced structure. BoB

Pug Limit (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Turnbull’s Nicobri’s Suits You Sir – 8 month old who needs to harness his enthusiasm for life! He is very cobby in body has an excellent spring of rib for one so young. His head is textbook with a short muzzle and excellent dark mask and the right amount of wrinkle. He has exceptional dark eye and nose pigment with nothing exaggerated in any way. Lovely shoulder placement with small neat feet and ideal bone with strong forequarters and good depth of chest. He is a very exciting prospect who the more he was in the ring the more he settled into the job in hand and once he settled he moved with the right amount of roll. I couldn’t deny him BoB, Toy Group 3 and Toy Puppy Group 1. I will watch his career with great interest.

Bichon Frise Special Yearling (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Rudd’s Deizi My Cupids Bow – 10 month old exuberant young man who has the nicest of heads and expressions. Good dark pigment with lovely round and well placed eyes. He has a nicely proportioned head and his angles front and rear are adequate and a well arched neck. He moves our steadily and from all angles he presents a clean outline. Shown in lovely coat and condition that is well presented. Best Puppy and Res BoB

Bichon Frise Limit (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Wilson’s Brokengate’s Rebel Heart at Kantosky – 3 year old who I have had the pleasure of judging begore. She has a lovely head and expression with good ear placement and the darkest of nose and eye pigment. Good depth to her forechest and she has a well balanced body of nice proportions and a broad loin and a well rounded hind quarters. Her topline is excellent awe a well set on tail. She moved round the ring with grace and ease. BoB

Maltese Open (1 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Hutchinson’s Danys Velma – sweetest of heads with a gently rounded skill and a well defined stop with a nice eye shape and the deepest darkest nose pigment. She has lovely bone with good front and rear angulation and is short in body. She moves out well keeping a nice outline with level topline and nicely carried tail. BoB

Japanese Chin Special Yearling (6 Ent, 3 Ab)

1. Leach’s Ashaka Between The Sheets at Ouzlewell (IKC) – R/W girl who is very feminine head and expression with lovely open nostrils. She has a lovely cobby body and a pleasing overall shape with correct hare feet. Shown in lovely coat of excellent condition. Just the right amount of bone and good angulation. She moved steadily at all times. Such the sweetest of dispositions. Res BoB

2. Lindley’s Kassui Mitsuki – B/W 10 month old who is ultra feminine and with a lovely head shape and enough cushioning. Darkest of nose and eye pigment and nice open nostrils. She has a lovely coat of excellent condition and well bodied for her age. She is pleasing on the move keeping a lovely outline and good tail carriage. Best Puppy

Japanese Chin (Open) 5 Ent, 3 Ab

1. Leach’s Sharlarna’s Nipantuck – attractively marked B/W who is quite enchanting with her beautiful head shape with well set ears. Her eyes are of the darkest colour and the most delightful feminine expression. Ample neck and good lay of shoulder and a good body shape with sufficient spring of rib. She is dainty in disposition and presents an overall balanced outline both standing and on the move. She moves true both coming and going. Shown in beautiful coat of lovely condition. BoB

2. Lindley’s Sharlarna Conchita for Meglind – R/W bitch who is a shade bigger than the winner. Shown in beautiful coat of lovely condition. She has the deepest darkest nose and eye pigment. Well off for body with a pretty head an expression. Moved OK keeping a pleasing outline.

Russian Toy Limit (2 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Codling’s Lingkiss Lady Marmarlade – Long Haired Black and Tan who had not long turned 6 months, small compact head with a well defined muzzle that is slightly pointed and nice thin lips. Long neck with fine bone and nicely sloping shoulder. Strong back and sufficient loin that is slightly arched. Hindquarters of moderate bend of stifle. Small and compact feet. Moved steadily both coming and going. Best Puppy

2. Welch’s Beaconsfylde Antlia of Fennyfare – pretty red who has a lovely feminine head and expression and is framed by well set ears that have moderate feathering. Adequate length of neck and gently sloping topline and well set tail. Moved well from all angles keeping a nice disposition and outline.

Russian Toy Open (2 Ent, 0 Ab)

1. Codling’s Shishalee’s Sex Bomb – 21 month old long haired red who just seems to get better every time I see him. He excels in his overall size and shape, nothing overdone at all, with his fantastic hind quarters and rear movement allowing him to glide round the ring. Coupled with a fabulous temperament and has ring presence, a mighty boy in a small package. Excels in earset and was shown in lovely coat and condition. BoB

2. Codling’s Grande Misterio I Love Love Lingkiss – The mother of the Limit winning Baby who I have also judged previously. Feminine Long Haired black and tan who has the most wonderful neck and excellent shoulder placement with adequate bone. Moved soundly at all times. Her young handler gave a good account of herself too. Res BoB

AV Toy Veteran (5 Ent, 1 Ab)

1. Colavecchia’s Carolus Miss Elsie VW – Cavalier KCS - a girl I have judged very recently. She screams femineity from the tip of her dark nose to her well set tail. She has the prettiest of heads that is nicely proportioned with a good fill under her eyes and adequate length of muzzle. Shown in sparkling condition with her nice Blenheim jacket gleaming in the sunshine. Always wanting to please her owner she shows herself to advantage from all angles. Moves with drive and enthusiasm keeping a pleasing outline and her constantly wagging tail. Couldn’t deny her Best Toy Veteran and in a quality line she showed till the very end and was Res Best Veteran in Show

2. Reddington & Harrison’s Kaypin Voulez Vous – handsome red 7 year old miniature pinscher who has such an eye-catching outline both standing and on the move. He has such a masculine head and expression with the right amount of fill under his eyes. He excels in neck and shoulders and good depth and breadth to the fore chest. Shown in excellent condition with well muscled hindquarters which he used to power round the ring.

2. Miniature Pinscher – Urwin’s Ch. Jagerson Kingsman JW – a boy who I have met before as a puppy and he is maturing well. Masculine head with a head of lovely proportions, graceful neck and moves with drive and good reach in his front. A lovely outline standing and moving and pushed the ETT hard today.

4. Cavalier KCS - Colavecchia’s Carolus Camilla – well schooled blen shown in pristine condition. Well balanced throughout with a pretty head and well arched neck. Moves out with drive and presence with a perfect topline and tailset.

2. Miniature Pinscher – Reddington &Harrison’s Kaypin Shooting Star – a quality red who has the most enchanting expression that is so feminine. Excels in neck and front assembly and lovely overall balance and fabulous movement. She has such an eye catching profile both standing and moving and was unlucky to meet the Pug. I am sure she will have an assured future.

3. Lowchen - Arfenco’s Warrier King Ivar for Hollinsclose (IMP NOR)

4. Cavalier KCS – Linton’s Daltonian’s Poppies – richly coloured ruby with a feminine head and darkest of nose and eye pigment. Well angulated both front and rear and moves well keeping a lovely outline. 

AV Brace

1. Davies’s Saluki’s – two beautiful graceful dogs that were so similar in stature and movement. They were in absolute unison going round the ring, graceful and elegant both with delightful heads and expressions. I couldn’t take my eyes off them. 

2. Codling’s Russian Toy’s – two young examples of the breed who were like peas in a pod. Moved as one round the ring both keeping a typical outline for the breed. Their movement was steady at all times,

1. Bacon’s Timbric Doris Day JW – Cocker Spaniel who typifies the breed with a lovely outgoing nature. Loved her size and shape with a lovely reach of neck and good hind angulation. Moves out with drive and style using her well let down hocks.  

2. Jellie’s Kiltondale Johnny Cash at Jellwell – Bearded Collie – well coated and in excellent condition. Masculine head and expression with nice pigment. Well balanced throughout with a good topline. Moved true.

3. Weaver’s Shalissa’s Dolce an Gabanna - Dobermann

Peirson’s Ch Kiltondale Miley Cyrus JW – Bearded Collie – loved her overall size, shape and balance. She was so feminine with a lovely head and expression with lovely pigment. She moved effortlessly round the ring with fabulous reach and drive. Shown in pristine coat and condition. She was my star of the quality lineup and I couldn’t deny her Best in Show.

Mcpherson’s Ch Brumberhill Bit O’Blarney JW – Border Terrier – an exceptional exhibit that excelled in breed type and pushed the Beardie close. Loved his head with darkest of eye pigment, moderate neck and well angulated front and rear. He moved round the ring with drive, keeping a lovely outline.

Marflitt’s Exalon Dangerous Moonlight Over Dageo – Poodle (Standard) – majestic and elegant in stature this dog couldn’t stand incorrectly if he tried. He is definitely an eye catcher with his proud head carriage and body of ideal proportions and good spring of rib. Such a free and easy movement driving from his well muscled hind quarters. A boy with an exciting future.

Bridgeman & Logue’s Kingswin Brenda Lee – Beagle – loved the clear cut outline of this young girl. Ideal bone with excellent front and rear assembly and a well developed forechest. She is lovely on the move keeping an eye catching outline with a proud head carriage. I am sure another with an assured career.

Virgo & Hich’s Am Ch Suni Asia Wish Upon a Star by Sumahari ShCM ShCEx VW (IMP USA) – Afghan Hound – Lovely head of good proportions and lovely eyes and pigment. Shown in pristine coat and condition a boy that is graceful and eye catching with an ideal length of neck and fabulous front and rear angulation that allow him to float round the ring.
