1st Forbes & Sladden | Silvestre Pop Soda Pop At Canemamans

I just loved this chestnut dog the moment he stepped into the ring. At only 8 months he is so together and eye catching. He stands just over square with good depth of chest for one so young, excellent angles fore and aft and powerful hindquarters. His topline is as required by the standard. His head is noble yet not overdone in any way, he has good length of muzzle, slightly arched, with a protruding nose into moderate flew and double dewlap. He has a lovely soft expression from his oval eyes which are yet to darken. His skull is narrow and lean at the cheek, with pronounced occiput and medial furrow and he is well chiselled below the eyes. He oozes Bracco in every way, particularly his powerful, elastic side gait. He carries his full tail excellently. I just couldn’t deny him BOB and BPIB. Delighted to see him shortlisted in the adult group and then go PG2, I look forward to watching him mature.

Two very different types in this class.

1st Blomfield | Teverlani Who’s That Girl At Woodlandblue

This nearly 2yo chestnut bitch is very typical in her outline – standing just over square with slope down from her raised withers before rising slightly to her croup. She has the correct head proportions, divergence and chiselling, with well set on ears and double dewlap. She has enough bone for a bitch and has well angled hindquarters – I would prefer more return of upper arm to balance her layback of shoulder. She stands on good tight feet. Slightly lacking in confidence today on the move but still showed the required reach and drive.

2nd Rowley | Canemamans Final Say

14-month chestnut bitch who needs time to mature. She is longer cast than 1 and just not as together yet. Lovely narrow feminine head, well chiselled, correct ear set and length and shows good divergence in profile. She has a strong neck into well laid shoulders, but another I would prefer more return of upper arm. She has good feet, a deep chest and slight tuck up with skirt. Well angled hindquarters and correct topline. Unfortunately today she was moving very wide behind, but in profile she has good reach and drive.

1st Worgan | Braccorion’s Corrr Blimey

This 2yo flashy chestnut bitch presents a real picture – strong, well balanced and powerful as required in the breed standard and for a hunting breed such as this. I adore her head planes in profile, chiselling and slightly arched muzzle - she is certainly noble. I would prefer less width to her back skull, but she shows the correct medial furrow with pronounced occiput and slight stop. She stands just over square, with a deep chest to very slight tuck up, and correct topline and tail set. Her angulation is excellent, balanced fore and aft, which allowed her to move out very well. She has excellent drive from her powerful hindquarters and she is certainly “untiring”. Pushed very hard for BOB but had to settle for RBOB today just being a little erratic on the move for her handler.

Again, I was presented with 2 very different types in this open class which made my decision difficult.

1st Forbes & Sladden | Canemamans Primo Al Fine JW

A mature 4yo orange roan male who is full of substance all round. He stands slightly over square with good angulation fore and aft on good tight feet. He is deep in the chest with well sprung ribs. His head is beautiful in profile showing excellent divergence and a slightly arched muzzle which I so love to see. His head is narrow with clear medial furrow and pronounced occiput. He moves out with great reach and drive, elastically powering around the ring, although he can be a little proud of his tail.

2nd Pipes, Groves | Bushwacker Demetrio

Lighter in type but there is so much to like about this 4yo orange roan male. He stands square with the typical topline of the breed flowing from his excellent neck into shoulder, sloping down from the withers, before rising slightly to his croup and correct tail set. He has lovely tight feet. His head in profile shows beautiful divergence, with chiselling under the eye and his nose protruding past his lips, with a good amount of flew. He has well-muscled powerful hindquarters, but I would prefer more lay back of shoulder and return of upper arm to balance this. He moves cleanly out and back but unfortunately on the day he just was not as positive on the move in profile as the winner.
