Honley Show Society

I would like to thank the Society for inviting me to judge the Working Group at Honley Show, and in particular the Secretary for the confidence placed in me with my first Group appointment. My thanks also go to all exhibitors for their entries, the excellent presentation of their dogs, and for accepting my decisions with such good sportsmanship. It was a privilege to judge such a strong and enjoyable entry.

Feminine youngster of good breed type with a well-balanced head and pleasing overall outline. Straight in front with a firm topline and well-angulated hindquarters. Moved freely and soundly, maintaining her shape on the move and giving a balanced picture throughout. RBOB.

1st Williams’ Diablo Sivola

Quality masculine male of good breed type. Strong in bone with a well-proportioned head, good neck and firm topline, presenting the balanced outline called for in the breed. Straight in front with well-turned hindquarters, enabling him to move freely and soundly while retaining his shape throughout. A worthy winner of the class. BOB.

2nd Williams’ Kierlaceyan Emma Jayne

Another quality exhibit with a pleasing head, good bone and a balanced outline. Straight in front and presenting a sound overall picture. Moved steadily and true, but I preferred the freer movement of the winner on the day, which decided the placings.

1st Blackburn’s Disoranto A Perfect Match JW (Imp Pol)

Quality exhibit with a typical head, kind expression and dark eye. Presented in good coat and firm condition, with a strong topline, straight front and well-constructed quarters. Moved with the effortless, ground-covering action so characteristic of the breed, maintaining a level topline throughout. BOB and later Group 1.

1st Topham & Maltas’ Virlees Wild At Heart

Quality youngster of excellent breed type. Strong yet feminine in head, with good bone, ample substance and a well-muscled body. Well-constructed front and rear with balanced angulation, allowing her to move with purpose and drive while maintaining a firm outline. A very promising bitch who was a pleasure to judge. BOB, BPIB, Group 2, Puppy Group 1 and delighted to see her go on to take Best Puppy in Show.

1st Dobson’s Chantavory’s Harleyquinn

Well-proportioned bitch with a sweet expression and good overall balance. Once settled, she moved soundly, maintaining her outline and showing the steady, purposeful action required of the breed. A quality exhibit with much to commend her.

Strong-headed exhibit with good bone and a balanced outline. Well-constructed both fore and aft, with correct tail carriage completing the picture. Moved with good drive, maintaining a sound, purposeful action throughout. RBOB.

Well-boned youngster with a typical head and balanced proportions. Once settled, moved freely with the easy, effortless gait so characteristic of the breed. A promising youngster with much to like. BPIB and later Puppy Group 3.

2nd Wright’s Zimavolk’s Thunderstruck

Although out of coat on the day, still displayed sufficient breed type to secure this placing. Moved freely with an easy, light action.

1st Jackson’s Sakarladrift Frosty Paws For Azilvix JW

Balanced exhibit with a typical head and good overall proportions. Although lacking coat, his construction was evident on examination and he had nothing to hide. Moved freely with the effortless, ground-covering gait expected of the breed. RBOB.

1st Shaw & Dandy’s Gercekask Crime Lord JW

Quality male who immediately impressed on hands-on examination. Well boned with a typical head, good coat and sound construction front and rear. Moved with drive and purpose, covering the ground with the easy, effortless action that is a hallmark of the breed while maintaining his balanced outline. A worthy BOB winner, later going on to take Group 3.

2nd Jackson’s Aloustair’s Circle Of Life For Azilvix

Smaller overall than the winner, with adequate bone and an attractive head. Although out of coat on the day, he moved freely with a light, easy action and presented a balanced overall picture.

1st Williams' Shalissa's Mulberry (Dobermann)

Quality puppy with a clean, well-proportioned head, good bone and well-developed hindquarters. Although unsettled on the move today, enough could be seen of this youngster's quality to appreciate the sound construction. A promising puppy with much to like. Best AVNSC Puppy.

Elegant Great Dane of good breed type with a well-proportioned head and sound hindquarters. Moved with an effortless, ground-covering stride, maintaining a balanced outline throughout. A quality exhibit with much to admire.

1st Selby's Bantambox Nelly Fur Tardo (Boxer)

Feminine Boxer with a correctly proportioned head and balanced outline. Good bone with sound construction front and rear, finished by a firm topline. Once settled, moved freely and purposefully, showing the athletic action so typical of the breed. Best AVNSC, later going on to take Group 4.

2nd Balshaw's Cockneyoka Over The Line (Dobermann)

Well-made exhibit with a clean head and good bone, presenting a balanced overall picture. Moved soundly for the most part, although a little wide on the day, which affected the final placing.

Sweet-natured youngster with a feminine, typical head and balanced overall outline. Good bone with sound construction front and rear, while her well-furred, waving plume completed the picture. Moved freely and soundly with an easy, steady action, demonstrating the balance and strength characteristic of the breed. A promising youngster with a bright future ahead.

1st Topham & Maltas’ Wildheart Athena At Virlees (Rottweiler)

A lovely veteran Rottweiler with a beautiful head, good bone and a superb overall outline. Well-constructed and still moving with great enthusiasm and soundness, showing the quality and character expected of the breed. Full of personality, she was a joy to judge and a credit to her owners.

2nd Selby's Kizzylee Rita Pawra At Bantambox (Boxer)

Another lovely veteran with a good outline and well-constructed rear. Moved well around the ring, showing soundness and balance with the typical athletic qualities expected of the breed.

3rd Shaw & Dandy’s Liareedon The Lieutenant At Andilorn JW ShCM ShCEx VW (Siberian Husky)

A grand old man really enjoying his day out.
