Golden Retrievers

My sincere thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge golden retrievers at the friendly, well organised show. Thankyou to my excellent stewards and to all the exhibitors who gave me the opportunity to judge their beautiful dogs.

Puppy (6, 2 abs)

1 – Copley Miss E – Ashbyglen True Colours at Emmabe

Super quality, well-constructed, 11 month old Golden dog. Masculine Head with a gentle expression, kind eye & good pigment. Good reach of neck flowing into well lay back shoulders. Well-constructed front & rear, deep chest with a level topline. Sound movement, straight front & rear, good drive from behind, very balanced for his age. Excellent bone and super coat. BPIB and delighted to see him go on to take Group 4.

2 – Pietrykowski Mr M

Pale boy, 8 months old, gentle eye with good pigment & correct ear set. Good length of neck and layback of shoulder. Tight feet, deep ribcage with level topline, correct tail set. Moved well.

Junior (2, 0 abs)

1 - Stonebridge Miss K – Toseland Two Can Have a Party.

Pale girl just over 12 months, 1st time in Junior. Lovely feminine head, with kind eye and gentle melting expression. Good length of upperarm and leg. Good reach of neck with well laid back shoulders. Tight cat-like feet, well ribbed, very balanced outline. Well bent stifles and laid down hocks, level topline held on the move. Awarded RBOB

2 - Mears Mr N & Mrs M – Ambersun Winter Storm

Mid golden boy, 17 months, well chiselled masculine head of good proportions, correct ear set & good pigment. Well boned, tight feet, level topline, tail slightly high on the move today but this will level with maturity, straight hocks, well-muscled 2nd thigh . Shown in lovely full coat.

Post Graduate (5, 1abs)

1 – Smith Mr T B & Mrs L G – Goldmarker Luminora JW

Golden Bitch 18 months old. Pretty feminine head, with kind gentle eye and expression. Correct ear set and good pigment. Good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders. Straight front and rear with tight catlike feet. Level Topline, well balanced and in proportion with no exaggerations. Correct tail set, moved well, full coat.

2- Smith Mr T B & Mrs L G – Goldmarket Alderbaran

Strong well built 18 month mid golden male. Lovely head with gentle eye, correct bite. Good reach of neck, deep chest, well boned, level topline and correct tail set. Well developed and muscled 2nd thigh, straight, well let down hocks. Shown in full coat, covered the ground with ease. Litter brother to 1.

1 – Searle Mrs B – Astleyfold Snowy Bell JW

Pale Girl, just over 2 years old. Very feminine with a beautiful outline. Lovely head with kind eye, good pigment. Fantastic reach of neck into well laid back shoulders. Straight front & rear with well sprung ribs. Level topline held on the move. Good bend of stifle, straight well let down hocks with correct tail set. Beautiful coat.

2 – Staniland, Mrs G – Bermary Sweet Child of Mine

Pale girl 3 years old. Lovely head, kind eye with good pigment & correct bite. Good reach of neck & layback of shoulder. Good length of leg. Deep chested, level topline with correct tail set, just not as forward on the move as 1 today.

1 – Copley Mr G – Lalique lord of the Rings at Hamcar

6 years old mid golden boy. Masculine head of correct proportion, kind eye and correct ear set. Good reach of neck and shoulder placement. Deep chested, level top line held on the move with correct tail set. Good bend of stifle, well-muscled 2nd thigh, with straight well let down hocks. Shown in beautiful full coat, moved around the ring with ease.

Open Bitch (3, 0 abs)

1 – Smith T B & Mrs L G – Goldmarket Luminess (AI)

Super quality 4 year old gold bitch. Beautiful head, kind eye and a melting expression. Correct bite and ear set. Good reach of neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Super front. Deep chest, with tight elbows & well sprung ribs. Level topline which was held on the move with correct tail set, Strong well-muscled rear with good bend of stifle, straight well let down hocks and tight cat like feet. Move around the ring with drive covering the ground with ease. Very happy girl, who never stopped wagging her tail. Delighted to award her BOB.

2- Walker & Roberts, Ms E J & DR L – Lamancha Trust your Heart with Gloi JW

Beautiful dark golden bitch 4 ½ years old in stunning coat. Lovely head of correct proportions, kind eye, & gentle expression. Correct ear set, bite and good pigment. Good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders. Good length of leg and upperarm with tight cat like feet. Level Topline, well bent stifle & straight well let down hocks. Very happy girl totally at one with her handler.
