Alaskan Malamute Cub UK Open Show 10/05/2026

I would like to thank the AMCUK committee for the invite to judge the bitch classes at the May open show, it was an honour to be asked to judge my beloved breed alongside my co judge Huw Morris. Many thanks to the 2 efficient stewards, Noah and Ailsa, for keeping everything running smoothly on the day. Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to the exhibitors for their entries. It was great to see such quality throughout all the classes. 

MPB (3,1)

1. Innes’ Icycool’s Athena. A beautiful 8 month old bitch, shown in lovely condition. She had a pleasing head with a lovely sweet expression and dark eye. Liked her proportions. Good front on nice feet. Excellent rear angulation. Nice harsh coat. Held her topline well while on the move and had excellent reach and drive. I liked her a lot, she just lost out to the male puppy for BPIS as she slightly lost her spark in the challenge, to be expected after such a long day for a youngster. BPB & RBPIS

2. Jelfs’ Lapema Nevr Trust the Living. Another lovely youngster with a beautiful head with correct dark eye and nice well furred ears. Slightly more compact than 1 with a good front and correct depth of chest for her age. Good amount of bone. A little unsettled to start, however moved out well once she found her rhythm. Shown in good athletic condition.

1. Ellis-Payne’s Chayo Aurelia. Feminine head and expression with a lovely dark eye. She presents a good outline on the stand. Well laid shoulder and a strong front on good feet. Well off for bone. Good rear angulation. She moved out well in all directions.

LB (4,1)

1. Brown’s Rumba Vasilyev Ostrov for Cupin (IMP UKR) JW. Loved the outline and proportions of this girl. Lacking coat today, however, it was harsh in texture. She has a beautiful head with a dark oblique eye and a lovely alert expression. She is well balanced with an excellent front and well arched feet. Strong, moderately arched neck and good length of loin. Moderately bent stifle and muscled thighs. Shown in fit athletic condition. She is an efficient mover, moving with ease and purpose in all directions. A real quality bitch. BB & BIS

2. Jelfs’ Chayo High Jinks with Lapema. Another one with a lovely outline and proportions. She has a good head, with a nice eye, correct ears and a soft expression. Correct front and strong rear with well muscled thighs. Good coat. Held her topline and moved out well with reach and drive once settled. 

3. Sheehan’s Powderhounds Sparks will Fly at Amaqqut (IMP USA). Lovely bitch with such a feminine head with a lovey expression. Well off for bone. Good front with a deep chest and strong loin. Well let down hocks. Shown in great condition and moved soundly. 

OB (7, 1)

1. Pullin & Mountstephen’s Whitewalker Winters Gold. A beautifully balanced and feminine bitch that I kept being drawn to in a class full of real quality exhibits. On the stand, she presents an excellent natural outline. She has a lovely head and expression. Lovely arch to her neck. Well laid shoulders, good depth of chest and excellent rear angulation. In fit condition, she covers the ground effortlessly and with real purpose, which won her the class. 

2. Brouard’s Jsy Ch Orsamals Cest Moi Fifi (GKC) Pdh. Feminine head and expression with a lovely eye. She has good depth of chest and a true front. Well muscled loins. Powerful rear, with moderate bend to stifle. Lovely waving plume. Another shown in fit, athletic condition. Another who moved effortlessly while holding her gently sloping topline firm at all times. 

3. Copley-Holland’s Ch Katabatics Troubleshooter JW. She presents a nice outline while standing and has a beautiful broad head with a lovely dark eye. She is balanced with well laid shoulders and deep chest. Strong front on excellent feet. Good spring of rib. Well muscled and she moves with ease.

SVB 7-9 years ( 5,1)

1. Brouard’s Ch/Jsy Ch Sutarka Coco Chanel at Orsamals Pdh. This girl stood out today in a class of quality veterans. Broad head with a dark eye and a sweet expression. She was shown in great condition. She has an excellent front with a strong chest and and large compact feet. Equally as strong in the rear, with good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. She covered the ground well and her movement was purposeful, while looking effortless. 

2. Brown’s Ch Skidooshooz Bohemian Soul of Cupid (AI) Different type to 1 but oozed as much quality. Well proportioned and balanced, with excellent bone and feet. Lovely arch of neck and a firm topline. Well muscled loins. Front and rear angulation are both correct and strong. Correct tail set and carriage. She is an efficient mover and works well with her handler. 

3. Nevison’s Ch Chayo Causin Chaos. Another lovely bitch who has an excellent outline and presents a pleasing picture. Nice dark eye and a soft, pleasing expression. She has a correct front and a strong rear, with correct angulation. Ample bone. Another fit exhibit who was shown in excellent condition. She moved out well. 

SVB 10 years + (3,2) 

1. Woodhead’s Koromandel Rushin Around at Noraisy. Beautiful feminine head with lovely neat ears. Well laid back shoulder and a deep chest on good feet. Moderately arched neck. Good rear angulation, with broad thigh. Well let down hocks. At not far off 13, everything about her is still firm and strong. She glided effortlessly around the ring, while holding a firm gently sloping topline. She was a joy to go over and watch, a real credit to her owners and breeder, displaying the longevity that we should all be striving for. RBB, BVB, RBIS

Special Open Import Dog (1,0)

1. Tozzi’s Multi Ch The Magician Uniroyal. Quality male with a pleasing head and expression. He has a lovely dark eye. He presents a lovely balanced outline and has an excellent front with correct chest. Well arched neck, leading to a gently sloping topline. Strong rear to match his front. Great coat and shown in good hard condition. He moves with ease and makes it look effortless. Best Special Import 

Special Open Rescue Stakes Dog (3,1)

1. Facer’s Chayo Unlock the Power. Broad head with nice oblique eye. Well balanced, with a good depth of chest. Strong in the rear with moderately bent stifle. Firm, slightly sloping topline. Good tail set and carriage. Correct, harsh coat. Moved well, with reach and drive. Best Special Rescue Stakes 

2. Druce’s Kaskae Hell of a View at Druxie (AI) Correct proportions and presents a good side profile on the stand. He also has a strong head and muzzle, presenting a good overall picture. Good chest and spring of rib. Strong rear. Moved out well in all directions. Presented in top condition. Reserve Best Special Rescue Stakes.
