Special AV Puppy Charity Stakes (6,5 abs)

1, Catharell’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Kinabula’s Master of Joy, quality 10 month old baby and very promising he is too. Really nice head, good flow from neck into shoulder and on to correct tail carriage, clean front, enough fill for age, sound and clean on the move, will watch his progress with interest.

Special AV Open Charity Stakes (15, 6)

A very good class, with hounds of high quality right down the line. 1, Catharall’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Asharaa’s Perfect Match with Faahac JW, I have done this striking livernose well in his young days, and he has developed into an outstanding hound, as he had to be to win this class. Beautiful head with flat skull, masculine but with no trace of coarseness or jowliness. Super front and feet with excellent layback of shoulder, tight well padded feet, muscular thighs, moved with free strides and clean footfall, presented beautifully, loved him; 2, Carrington’s Basenji, Ch/Int/Multi Ch Bushwacker Ocean’s Eleven, high class tri whom I awarded his first CC as a youngster, now five years old and of very high quality. He is both soundly constructed and possessed of the necessary elegance and class that is the hallmark of this breed; fine coat, good feet, short back, fine bone with good length of forearm, enough forechest and depth, moved with free swinging stride; 3, Howlett & Howden’s Greyhound, Rubicon’s Don’t Stop Believing (Imp USA)

Special Open Good Citizen Stakes (16, 6)

1, Longhurst’s Whippet, Abbeyhurst Dancing Queen JW, another that I have done well before, mature blue fawn with a super curvy outline, very correct and feminine, with a lovely front and feet, stands over enough ground and moves with poise and precise footfall, nothing flashy or exaggerated, a high class sound typy bitch; 2, Catharall’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Kinabula’s Making Magic for Faahac JW, masculine outlook with flat skull, strong jaw, really nice shoulder and topline, powerful well-muscled rear, moved really well all round. 3, Allanson & MacDonald’s Whippet, Zoraden Simply the Zest at Macalldon JW

Special AV Junior Stakes (11, 5)

1, Rowe’s WH Dachshund, Cloudside Xamira with Boloria, 14 months dark brindle, houndy head with dark eye, strong jaw and good furnishings; good front and keel with tight feet, well ribbed up, moved well keeping topline and tail carriage, in excellent coat; 2, Storey & Piehl’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Kiromol Ain’t Misbehavin (AI), light wheaten, excellent make and shape, nice head and expression, plenty of bone, good depth and length of ribbing, moved with plenty of scope. Just looking a wee bit immature next to 1; 3, Moore’s PBGV, Tangaer Jump for Joy.

Nick Bryce Smith Memorial Champion Stakes (14, 9)

1, Phillips’ WH Dachshund, Ch Tendrow Will to Succeed, brindle male with a super head and outlook, masculine and typy with strong jaw and good eye and ear set, excellent typical front with tight feet, prosternum and keel, finished off with a well-fitted harsh jacket and good furnishings. Moved with soundness and panache; not surprised to see him go BIS later in the day; 2, West’s MWH Dachshund, Ch Archidax Dark Phoenix, this delightful red is a veteran now but shows little sign of it; pretty feminine head, well balanced all through with good keel and ample clearance, correct topline and tailset, such a neat clean mover; 3, Stratton’s Basenji, B/Bh Fed Ch Aheme Cinnamon Swirl for Justartee.

Special RBOB Competition

1, Greyhound, Rubicon’s Don’t Stop Believing (Imp USA) w/brindle, loved his head, masculine but with plenty of work in it, powerful jaw, topline flows well from poll to croup with good length of neck, plenty of depth and length to ribbing giving good fill in front, correct pasterns and tight feet, standing over plenty of ground. In fit condition and he moved really well with clean footfall; 2, Woodcock’s Ibizan Hound, Ch Abbotsoak Any Dream Will Do, ch/w, an old friend and another outstanding veteran, he is achingly typy with a beautiful head and fine, mobile ears, excellent breed typical construction and he moves with that distinctive hover that is the escutcheon of the breed. Quite a character and he can still be a bit of a handful! 3, Oorloff’s Basenji, Convica Fast and Furious.
