Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society

My thanks to the committee for my invitation to judge Ridgebacks at their lovely open show. The weather was warm but a good breeze kept us all comfortable. The committee had some difficulties with numbers for stewarding duties but I feel the interruptions were kept to a minimum.

I was delighted with the biggest hound entry of the day. Thank you to all who came for my opinion.

Bites and ridges were all within standard.

PUPPY: 3 (2 abs)

1st Pearce’s Msingi Me A Lullaby 9 month old bitch, beautifully feminine head, dark correct round eye, correct bite, ear set, and close fitting lips. Flow of neck into a correct front, length of loin and tuckup all of good proportions.

She was difficult to go over as I believe she has had a fright in the ring recently. Lots of patience meant I could see her potential and I hope she gets her big girl pants back. Moved apprehensibly. BP.

JUNIOR 2 (1 abs)

1st Hodge’s Colkeririn To The Nines JW 17 month old Red Wheaten bitch, stood alone but worthy of her first place. Pretty head, dark eye, well defined stop. Front where it should be for age, good depth of rib lots of heart room. Tuck up and length correct, nice to see well placed croup and tail set. Movement was purposeful and with drive. Will watch her career with interest.

POST GRADUATE 7 (3 abs)

1st Manning’s Fiadma’s Daiquiri 3 year old bitch, clean Wheaten a very feminine girl, pretty expression, deep chest, correct front, tuck up and length of loin good, correct tail carriage. Moved well.

2nd Carlincox Knock Ya Socks Off. 2 year old Red wheaten male. Masculine head, lovely dark eye, good depth of jaw. Deep chest, great solid top-line. This guy is carrying too much weight and is a bit short in length. Moved out well.

OPEN 6 (1 abs)

Lovely class with beautiful hounds. Difficult decisions and could swap places on another day.

1st Pearce’s Ch Kinyemi Song of Serengeti Sepiwi Sekayi For Msingi JW 2 year old Red Wheaten male. Just love this lad, have judged him in the past at 11 months old, he has excelled in the ring and I feel will continue to shine. Masculine, well off in bone and size but not over done. Dark mask, correct eye, deep jaw. Excels in front assembly, good length of rib with plenty of room. Croup and tail set correct.

Moved out with purpose and style. BOB and Reserve Hound Group.

2nd Ch KXOXO I’m Old Fashioned For Colkeririn JW (Imp FIN) 4 year old Wheaten male. A different stamp to my winner but beautifully put together boy. Clean lines, tight feet, lovely well made front. Good tuck up, length of loin, and tail set. Have seen him move better than he did today, felt his mind not on the job today. RBOB.
