Whippets

Firstly, I would like to thank the Committee of the Bon Accord Kennel Association for inviting me to judge whippets at their lovely, friendly, well-run show. My thanks also go to The Whippet Club of Scotland for their supported entry and my steward who worked alone but kept the classes running smoothly. The biggest thank you goes to the exhibitors for entering and entrusting me to judge their lovely dogs. I could not have hoped for a more friendly atmosphere for my first judging appointment.

P (3, 1)1 Leslie’s Glenlogie Blue Endeavour TAF. This 7-month-old blue dog caught my eye with his attractive head and strong neck. Well laid shoulders with a neat tuck-up. Of a good length with a strong topline and loin. Would’ve liked a little more depth of brisket and more fill in front but this may come as he matures. Good Spring of pastern and neat feet. Moved with ease and confidence around the ring showing good drive in profile. Well-deserved BPIB and look forward to seeing him mature.

2 Milne’s Zigouse Sugar High. 11-month-old parti dog. Nicely proportioned head leading into a strong neck. Moderate bladed bone. Ribs well sprung and a neat tuck-up. Good spring of pastern with neat feet. Did well for his first show and will benefit greatly when he gains his confidence.

J (3, 1) 1 McKenzie’s Aberlark Tutti Fruity. This striking 15-month-old fawn brindle bitch was another to quickly catch my eye. Feminine head and long, elegant neck. Well-filled in front with a deep brisket. Good lay of shoulder, and strong, well sprung pasterns. Ribbed well back with a slight rise over the loin and definite tuck-up. Hocks well let down but would’ve preferred more second thigh. Able to stand over ground and moved around the ring with ease and confidence. Showed great freedom of movement. Pleased to award this young bitch BOB today.

2 Milne’s Zigouse Sugar High (see P above).

PG (1, 0)1 Stuart’s Crosscop Layla. This 2-year-old fawn bitch has a lovely feminine expression and a strong underjaw with complete scissor bite. Flowing topline with a delicate rise over her loin. Nice length with a definite tuck-up and deep chest. Moved easily in profile

L (2, 0)1 Leslie’s Windwalker In A Heart Beat. 4-year-old fawn bitch. Classic fawn with balanced angulation. Pleasing for shape and substance with good length of ribbing and strong, broad back. Fine coat which was close in texture. A lot to like. Moved well.

2 Stuart’s Jothryn Somefink Beautiful. This 6-year- old fawn bitch has a pretty, head and expression with a slight stop and a dark oval, alert eye. Correct scissor bite although would like to have seen a stronger underjaw. Strong neck, well laid shoulders with straight forearms and spring of pastern. Moved easily around the ring.

O (3, 1)1 McKenzie’s Courtborne Joy At Aberlark (Imp Nor). This 3-year-old heavily brindled fawn bitch has a striking head and correct scissor bite. Strong neck, well filled in front, deep brisket, straight forearm and moderate spring of pastern. Good length and spring of rib. Stood easily covering the ground. Shown in good fit condition. Moved with freedom and drive around the ring.

2 Leslie’s Windwalker Eddie Brock. 4-year-old fawn brindle and white parti boy. Masculine head with bright, alert eyes and fine ear. Would like to have seen him carry a little more weight for his frame. Well defined muscles and good tail set. Moved out well.
