I enjoyed my appointment and would like to thank the committee for their invitation and all of the exhibitors who entered and presented their dogs to me. I am still relatively early in my judging journey with Pointers and find that every appointment teaches me something more about the breed. I place value on movement, as I find it often helps reveal overall balance, before considering the finer points of breed type against the Standard. I hope my comments are useful to those who entered and fairly reflect what I saw on the day.

Class 45 Puppy
Two very enthusiastic puppies, both at differing stages of development and understandably still needing time to settle and mature.
1st Tregaskis’ CAITHPOINT KEEP THE HEID WITH MOENFAIR
Overall balanced in appearance with a flowing topline from head to tail. Head still developing and I would like to see more definition and work as maturity comes. Carrying a little too much condition today. Very energetic on the move and would benefit from further ring practice, but was the more together of the two when settled and won the class on movement.
2nd Matthews’ SONHAM BRIMSTONE
Pointer type coming through in the head. Neck flowed in to shoulders smoothly into and along the topline. Would prefer a shorter coupling and a little more rear angulation. Still immature and enthusiastic on the move, with some looseness in front today, which ultimately cost him the class.

Class 46 Special Yearling
1st Voutis’ SHARNPHILLY AURORA
Orange and white bitch with a pronounced occiput and well defined stop. Head is strong and well defined; I would not want it any stronger. Clean neck flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders, with a pleasing topline through to a well carried tail. Presented in good condition with balanced front and rear angulation. Nicely sloping pasterns and good bone. Moved smoothly and purposefully, covering the ground well, and was the best mover on the day. BOB.

2nd Osman’s FLUERFIELD BENJAMIN BUTTON WITH MARISSOLO JW
A different head type to the winner, but well proportioned and of good size. Pleasing overall proportions with a graceful outline and good flow from front to rear. Preferred the front construction, overall balance and movement of the winner today.

Class 47 Post Graduate
1st Matthews’ SONHAM JUST A PRETTY BELLE (AI) JW
Lovely liver bitch with a good head type and pleasing proportions. Neck flows cleanly into a smooth topline through to the tail. Well coupled and balanced overall, although I would prefer a little more angulation both front and rear. Showed sound movement in the class, but really came into her own in the challenge where she moved with greater purpose and covered the ground very well. She took my eye there and was seriously considered for a top award.

2nd Bleathman’s TOLENAS PEONY POLLY FOR WYNBURY
Head of acceptable type and proportion, with a clean flow through the neck and across the topline. Would prefer more angulation both front and rear to improve overall balance. Movement was somewhat restricted on the day and she was not always shown to best advantage.

1st Osman’s FLUERFIELD HIDDEN DEPTHS VIA MARISSOLO
Seven-year-old presented and handled well. Good head proportions, although I would prefer a slightly longer muzzle. Pleasing overall shape with a topline flowing cleanly from front to rear. Stood on sound foundations with good feet and nicely sloping pasterns.
