Merseyside Gundog Club

Pointer - Merseyside Gundog

I found a good quality entry with sound movement throughout, which I felt was indicative of Pointer type. While overall construction was pleasing, I would have liked to see more consistent tail lashing in movement and slightly more slope to some pasterns. Thank you to all exhibitors for presenting their dogs so well on the day and a sincere thank you to my stewards for their support.

Puppy Dog A pleasing puppy class of four, all at differing stages of development, with each showing promise. 1st BLAKE’S Wilchrimane Flomotion Feminine puppy of quality type with a well-proportioned head and defined stop. Nicely laid shoulders with sufficient depth of brisket for age and good sloping pasterns. Moved with excellent ground cover and an effortless action which secured her the class. Delighted to see her go BPIS. 2nd SAUNDERS & NEWTON’s Corotine Velvet Tuxedo Young male of good type with pleasing head proportions and correct Pointer curves. Well-constructed front, though I would prefer more slope to the pasterns as he matures. Not quite as settled or balanced on the move as the winner today. 3rd BROOKSMITH’S Sharnphilly Lyrical

Junior 1st BOOTH’S Lundgarth Ticket to Fly Black and white bitch of compact, symmetrical proportions with a pleasing flow from head through to tail. Kind expression with good head and muzzle proportions and a well-defined stop. Balanced front and rear, though I would prefer a little more slope to the pasterns. Moved with good drive and a collected, purposeful action to take the class. 2nd ANDERSON ROWELL’S Daledancer Francis Mullen Taller black and white bitch than the winner but still balanced, showing graceful curves and a lovely topline. A little unsettled in this class, although she performed better later in the day. I would like to see her mature on in body condition to enhance her overall picture. 3rd COLLINS’ Collhome Honeysuckle

Graduate 1st BUSH’S Piasharn Breaking the Law Honest bitch with an elegant outline, well-proportioned and presented in good condition with a pleasing length of neck. Balanced fore and aft, though I would prefer a little more layback of shoulder. Held her topline well and moved with good drive and purpose, which secured her the class. 2nd SAUNDERS & NEWTON’S Tiesgol Calendula JW Strongly built dog who pushed the winner hard with his powerful movement. Pleasing, well-proportioned head, but I preferred the overall refinement and balance of the winner today. 3rd ANDERSON ROWELL’S Daledancer Francis Mullen

Post Graduate 1st BUSH’S Piasharn Rocka Rolla Impressive, well-muscled male of good size yet balanced overall. Pleasing head with good stop and correct proportions, and a nice length of neck with adequate depth and width of brisket. I would prefer a little more layback of shoulder, but he moved with power and purpose around the ring today, which secured him the class. 2nd ANDERSON ROWELL’S Wilchrimaine Silent Sonnet at Daledancer Quality bitch who was unfortunate to meet the winner today. Pleasing head with kind expression and well-defined stop. Well placed shoulder with a smooth flow from head to tail, showing good balance fore and aft. Sound mover with good slope to pasterns, but lacked the drive of the winner on the day. 3rd COLLINS’ Collholme Balthasar

Limit 1st NELIS’ Freebreeze Special Effects JW Curvy bitch with a clean overall outline and pleasing balance. Correct head with good muzzle to skull proportions and a soft expression. Moved soundly with excellent footfall and enough drive. Her overall correctness and balance on the day edged her the class, pleased to award her BOB. 2nd GATES’ Sharnphilly Dizzy Blonde at Linosa Quality bitch who pushed the winner hard. Different in head proportions but flowed well on the stack, showing good rear angulation. Moved with lovely ground-covering action but just lacked the overall balance and femininity of the winner today. Pleased to award RBOB. 3rd COLLINS’ Collholme Angelique

Open 1st ANDERSON ROWELL’S Raigmore Limelight at Daledancer Bitch with a well-proportioned head showing pronounced occiput, flowing into a lengthy neck and well-placed shoulders. Enough depth of chest with correct tailset and carriage. Balanced angulation fore and aft and moved soundly and consistently, which secured her the class. 2nd WEAVER’S Dappledine Chance for Anniezu Orange and white dog with a classic head and good bone. Well angulated front and rear with correct feet and short coupling. Moved well, but I preferred the overall balance and movement of the winner today. 3rd
