Thank you to the society for the honour of judging at their 80th Anniversary Show and to my stewards for their invaluable assistance. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for their entry and for allowing me the opportunity to judge their dogs. It was lovely to see such care taken in their presentation, with all the dogs beautifully prepared and presented for the ring.
Bracco Italiano
O (2 1a).Mr M R & Mrs C R Sanderson Sh Ch Owlspoint Trouble Again JW ShCEx OSW VW An excellent mature dog who stood alone today worthy ShCh of very good breed type. Strong, noble head, good length of neck and well-laid shoulder. Excellent bone and substance, with a deep, well-developed chest, good ribcage and strong loin. Good topline with the characteristic rise towards the loin, good croup and well-angulated hindquarters. Correct proportions and good overall balance. Powerful, purposeful movement with good reach and drive. A very good representative of the breed, fit for function. BOB could not deny him G4.

P(2)1. Litters mates just 6m old showing a lot of promise 1. Mrs D Parry Leiboraschy Theta Presents a beautiful feminine head with correct ear set and tidy facial furnishings. Shows a well‑constructed front with pleasing angulation and good depth of chest. Balanced throughout with a clean topline and correct tail set. Hindquarters show a lovely bend of stifle, giving her a balanced outline. Coat of correct wire texture. Moved very well for a youngster, showing excellent promise BP & BOB & delighted to award her PG3. 2.Mrs D Parry Leiboraschy Tan Puppy dog with a developing outline and correct coat texture. Shows good bone, tidy feet and a firm topline. Head of pleasing proportions with a typical expression. Forehand and hindquarters adequate for age, moves out freely and with confidence for his age. A very honest youngster who should continue to develop well.

P(2) 1.Bott, Allen, & Morgan Gli T Terati Lofty With Quensha (Imp Pol) Feminine head with correct eye and ear set, clean slightly arched neck, good front assembly. Presents good depth of chest and pleasing spring of rib, balanced throughout with a firm topline and correct tail set. Hindquarters show good width, lovely bend of stifle. Lovely coat & condition. Moved well, very promising youngster.2. Richardsons Gwendariff Yabba Dabba Doo Only a baby 6m male with pleasing head & expression, correct eye and ear set. Lovely reach of neck, developing front assembly, shows good depth of chest and a pleasing spring of rib for his age. Correct topline & tail set. Hindquarters developing showing a good bend of stifle. Moved well for a baby. PG(3,1a) 1.Wheeldon’s Quensha Fine And Dandy At Colemist 18m D Lovely temperament, showing the characteristic Irish Setter charm. Presents a masculine head with correct eye and ear set, clean slightly arched neck and good bone & feet. Still maturing but shows good depth of chest and pleasing spring of rib,good topline and correct tail set. Well bent stifle and short, strong hocks. Good coat. Preferred his movement and front action to 2 2. Kassube’s Cararua Spring Pearl JW Feminine head with correct eye and ear set, clean neck and a good topline. Shows a lovely coat of good texture and colour. Hindquarters wide and powerful with a good bend of stifle and strong hocks. Adequate front assembly with good bone, depth of chest still developing and a pleasing spring of rib. Moved well with drive from the rear, just not the front action of winner, promising b who should continue to improve as she matures. O(3,1a). 1. Beautifully balanced throughout, not exaggerated showing correct angulation with well‑laid shoulders, a firm, clean topline and correct tail set. Presents a beautiful head of true breed type, correct eyes, well‑set ears and a clean, elegant neck. Lovely strong hindquarters with well bent stifle and hocks. Fit for purpose; she looks as though she could genuinely do a day’s work. Moved with reach and drive while maintaining elegance. Could not take my eyes off her in the group — fully deserved G1. 2.Kassube & French Thendara Hot Diamond And Cararua Presents a masculine head with correct proportions, ear set, and kind eye. Muscular neck, good topline, showing pleasing spring of rib and depth of chest, balanced fore & aft, good bone &. feet. Lovely coat & condition.
Italian Spinone
P (2,1a) Reay’s Osulf’s Sugar Pie Very promising O&W F, her overall outline is pleasing and she presents a very honest, workmanlike picture. Head developing well with correct planes & typical characteristic expression. Eyes well‑shaped & correctly set, ears, clean strong neck, good lay of shoulder & return of upper arm, stands on good feet & bone. Correct topline,chest well sprung, carried well back & down to correctly placed elbows. Hindquarters developing well, with a broad croup, good bend of stifle and thighs already showing the breadth expected at this stage. Moved lovely for a baby; she shows the typical relaxed, free‑striding gait of the breed, with the slight looseness one would fully expect at this age. BP & BOB Her overall balance, breed type and honest, purposeful movement won her the Puppy Gundog Group
J (2,1a) Reay’s Drurylowe Sage Masculine head of correct proportion to body; strong, correctly‑lengthened neck and good bone. Front assembly still developing, good overall body proportions. Adequate turn of stifle and thighs broad enough for his age. Tail set not to my preference, moved well.
Flat Coated Retriever
PG(2,1) Walkers Gloi Dubh Mormaer JW young male of pleasing type, still maturing but showing good potential. Balanced, moulded head with a kind, dark eye and well‑set ears. Neck clean and of good length, flowing into correct shoulders, lovely front assembly, good return of upper arm, stands on good bone & feet tidy, body of correct length and depth for his age. Hindquarters strong with a fair bend of stifle and neat hocks, allowing him to move freely with an easy ground‑covering stride. A promising youngster. Good coat & condition. Preferred his front assembly and reach in front movement to O winner BOB. O(2,1a).Walkers Gloi Dubh Lady Muck JW B pleasing outline. She has a lovely head, correct eye, ear set. Good bone and well‑arched tight feet, with correct depth of chest and body proportions that give her a well‑made, athletic frame. Hindquarters well‑muscled with a good bend of stifle and neat hocks.
Springer Spaniel
Very impressed with all 3 exhibits, turned out in excellent coat & condition, showing excellent breed type. J(1)Calverts Calvdale Infinity13m L&W feminine and nicely made, showing good breed type and a balanced outline. Clean head with a kind expression, neck of correct length and shoulders well laid. Body proportions pleasing, good spring of rib & forechest. Lovely bend of stifle, correct hocks. Moved well once settled. A really nice youngster with plenty to like. PG(1)Calverts Calvdale Lizzie Stark litter sister to J L&W lovely outline, well balanced feminine head of correct proportion, with a well‑defined stop, balanced skull and muzzle, and the kind, expressive eye . Ears well set and nicely feathered, framing her head neatly. Super angulation both fore and aft, with lovely hocks, good bone and tight, well‑arched feet. Chest of correct depth and proportion, giving her a balanced outline. She moved well, showing the typical free, driving action of the breed. A quality bitch who fully deserved BOB & I considered her for G4. O(1) Calverts Elazian Elle For Leather 21m L&W feminine with a pleasing outline and correct proportions. Attractive head with balanced skull and muzzle, kind eye and well‑set ears. Neck clean and of correct length, leading into a good front assembly. Chest still developing adequate depth and ribbing for age. Hindquarters sound with neat hocks, moved soundly. Still maturing, but shows potential once she has finished.
Welsh Springer Spaniel
P(1). 1.Chandlers Chanangel Kiss Cam 11m Feminine head with lovely eye of correct oval shape, giving a soft expression. Balanced throughout with pleasing symmetry and correct proportions. Good rear angulation which she uses well on the move. Overall correct in shape and type, and she moved soundly and confidently for her age. Lovely coat & condition. Stood alone but still worthy of BP with a promising future.
PG (1 ) 1.Grahams Slapestones Catoca B of pleasing type. Good head with correct proportions, lovely eye and well‑set ears. In good coat & condition. Presents a balanced outline, with a good front, correct body shape and firm topline. Hind angulation is good and she uses it well on the move, covering the ground soundly and with purpose. A lovely girl BOB.O(3,1a)1 Grahams Eiriandylis Georgy Girl 9yr B Compact & of good type, standing well over ground. I preferred her forechest and hind angulation, which gave her the advantage today. Balanced throughout, with a pleasing outline and typical head. Moved soundly and freely, showing no sign of her years. 2. Casey’s Tigerrock Lit De Roses with Willowmeana Another lovely B, feminine and well made. Good head and expression, tidy feet and well‑set tail. Balanced fore & aft showing adequate angles, a sound, honest mover with much to like.

P(1). 1Blue’s NSDTR .6m Winter Star Amber Glade Via Dreambig (Imp Pol) Lovely temperament — confident, happy, and very willing to work with her handler. Feminine head with a bright, alert expression typical of the breed. Good bone for age, tidy feet, and a well‑set tail. Moved with enthusiasm and freedom, exactly what you expect at this stage. Very much a baby, but showing promise. PG(3,2a). Miss. D. Dunn’s Meadowpoint Hocus Pocus JW L&W pointer Quality bitch who immediately appealed for her balance and overall femininity. Lovely head, giving that classic, refined expression. Body flows beautifully from the neck into a firm, level topline. Excellent front assembly with good layback of shoulder, matching rear angulation that is correct and — refreshingly — not exaggerated in any way. She stands over her ground well, presenting a harmonious outline. Moved well with reach & drive, lovely side profile on the move: free, effortless and covering the ground with ease. In good condition showing muscle & fit for function. Maturing well for her age. A pleasure to award her BOB, and she fully justified her Gundog Group 3 placing. 0(2,1a).1. Mrs B Turton’s Tanglebrook Solitaire pointer B O/W good head, eye and muzzle, with correct ear set. Good front assembly with depth of chest and tidy feet. Balanced rear with good turn of stifle and well‑let‑down hocks.

1. Bott, Allen, & Morgan’s Irish Setter Quensha Joker And The Queen. Worthy group winner today could not take my eyes off her in the group.
2. Rodgers' Minstergate Celebration JW (Weimaraner) 15m B who caught my eye as she entered the ring; classic type of medium size with a clean outline. Lovely breed type, correct eye shape, ear set and balanced muzzle‑to‑skull relationship. Flews clean and well‑fitted, giving a tidy finish to the foreface. Balanced throughout with a firm topline, well‑constructed front and good angulation fore and aft. Tail set and carriage correct. She’s well muscled and her movement really shows the benefit of having a correct rear — purposeful, ground‑covering and driving without the exaggeration we’re seeing too often at the moment. She presents as capable of a day’s work. A highly promising youngster and a fully deserving Group 2; one I will watch with interest.

He has a good front assembly, with pleasing forechest, depth of chest and a nice spring of rib already developing. Balanced throughout, with a good turn of stifle, tidy hocks, correct tail set and a clean topline. Head of quality, with a kind eye, correct ears, a defined stop and a well‑proportioned skull. Lovely coat & developing muscles. When settled, he moved well and covered his ground with ease. Lovely temperament — exactly what you want to see in this breed & a bright future ahead.

She presents a clean outline with a well‑made front, developing forechest and good depth of chest, & developing spring of rib. Rear quarters are tidy and correctly constructed, with a good turn of stifle, neat hocks and a correct tail set carried off a level topline. Feminine head displaying the kind, intelligent expression so typical of the breed. Well‑placed ears, a defined stop and a well‑proportioned skull contribute to her overall harmony. Good coat showing the correct texture. Moved with an easy, flowing action, covering her ground freely. Much to like and every indication of maturing into a very pleasing adult

Correct nose pigmentation, ears set level with eyes . Strong neck into good shoulders; I liked his front and rear angulation. Firm, level topline. Good bone, depth of chest, tidy elbows and good spring of rib. Tail set correct. Moved very well. Should have a bright future. 2. Holtbys Afinmore Alyriva LR 6m promising youngster, lovely temperament, head developing showing good skull, stop, muzzle. Strong neck, topline, good bone & feet, pleasing in angulation fore & aft, shows good sprung of rib, correct tail set & carriage moved well. Coat of correct texture. 3. Ears well‑set and carried close. Clean neck into well‑laid shoulders; front true with tidy elbows. Body proportionate with a firm topline and well‑sprung rib.
