Wales and West of England Pug Dog Club Open Show
8th October 2026
Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge and to the exhibitors for their support and the opportunity to assess their dogs. It was a pleasure to spend the day with this charming breed, and there was much to appreciate across the classes.
I was very pleased with my principal winners, who combined breed type, balance and appealing expression. There were some close decisions for the reserve awards, with different qualities to appreciate in each exhibit. It was especially pleasing to award Reserve Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show to such a promising young female, and I look forward to following her progress.

1st SEPHINA THE PICKPOCKET
A lovely veteran gentleman, compact in outline and retaining pleasing substance. Good width of chest and a nicely developed body, with a good front and pleasing bend of stifle. He has held his condition well and still presents an appealing picture. Naturally showing a little maturity now, but a charming old man with plenty to appreciate.

Appealing puppy with a compact body and pleasing proportions. Straight front, good bend of stifle and a level topline, completed by a high tail set. Lovely expression, with dark eyes and open nostrils. A little wide coming and going today, but his overall shape and balance made him my choice for Best Puppy Dog.
2nd SANDIGARA HOT PROPERTY
