Bracco Italiano Society

The Bracco Italiano Society Breed Open Show
6th September 2026

Thank you so much to the Society for this opportunity and to my stewards, Rachel & Rebecca and their helpers for keeping the ring moving.

But special thank you to all the exhibitors for such a fabulous entry, I was honoured that so many of you sought my opinion of your dogs.

It was especially pleasing to see so many very promising puppies, this bodes well for the future of the breed. With the adults, I found a good number of the type I was looking for, heads vary in strength and the amount of divergence, but I did not find and bad mouths. Movement in general was really good with that typical easy, powerful drive evident in the vast majority.

Baby Puppy Dog (2,0)

What a way to start judging with 6 gorgeous baby puppies. Everyone with lots of potential and bright futures.

1st Leonard’s Braccorion Feather Plucker with Bearox. 5mths Orange Roan, already well grown with lovely shape, bone and substance, correct through head and neck with well made forequarters, straight front and neat feet. Deep ribs and loin to a super rear. Already moving with ease showing good reach and drive. Best Baby Puppy
2nd Pipes & Groves’ Bushwacker Judgement Day. 18 weeks and still very much a baby up against the winner. That said, he has everything he should at this age. Correct head planes & a sweet expression. Well laid shoulders and a straight front with developing forechest. Chest reaching to elbow with a slight rise to the loin. Lovely rear angles and coming together on the move, already showing correct reach and drive, just without the coordination that will come with time.

Baby Puppy Bitch (5,1)

1st Atherton’s Brevathos She’s a Belter. At 19wks this young lady caught my eye. Love her shape and size at this age. Feminine all through with a lovely head & neck into super forequarters, good forechest, straight front and neat feet. Deep through chest and loin to a well angulated rear. Another who moves so well for one so young. Reserve Best Baby Puppy
2nd Gowing’s Brevathos Wee Nyaff. Litter sister to the winner but slightly behind in her development but with so much to like. Feminine head of correct shape, so well made fore and aft but just not quite as together. When she got into her stride, she has lovely reach and drive. I have to mention her handler, this was her first show and I thought you did a fabulous job.
