Retriever (Flat Coated) 

Class 69 – Puppy (1 entry, 1 absent)

Class 70 – Special Yearling (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st – Bowen’s Clandrift Funky Angel JW – two lovely dogs in this class, both of which I have judged before and loved them both making the decision today difficult. This 22month old bitch just pipped the post on movement and enthusiasm today. The most lovely typical head for the breed with a lovely front on straight legs. Short coupled with good angulation front and hind and good tailset. Shown in lovely coat and condition. Enthusiastic on the move which flowed beautifully when she settled and maintained a solid topline. RBOB

2nd – Flatcharm Mr Potato Head – another dog I have watched and admired. He is very well built for his age of 14months with beautiful balance. A lovely head flowing into well laid back shoulders from a good length of neck. Short coupled with a solid topline maintained on the move. In lovely coat and condition. Preferred angulation of 1. Sadly, he wasn’t on his top form today not having his usual enthusiasm which affected his movement today. 

Class 71 – Post Graduate - (3 entries, 0 absent)

1st – Glenturret Wet My Whistle JW – 2.5year old dog that showed his maturity in this class, moved with good drive and ease maintaining his topline well with lovely breed enthusiasm. Slightly out of coat today. Lovely head on well laid back shoulders. Straight legs and tight feet with a good forechest. Short coupled. Would prefer a little more hindlimb angulation. 

2nd – Clandrift Make It Funky JW – fought hard for first place. A lot to like about this boy and again having judged him before, could see a huge development in his maturity. Carries oodles of coat that is well kept and in good condition. Level topline maintained on the move, preferred the movement on 1 today who had more drive. Preferred the front of 1 but preferred the hindlimb angulation of this boy. It was a close call between the two. 

3rd – Gemswin Honesty at Candiliz

Class 72 – Open (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st – Kulawand Casanova – this boy caught my eye very quickly coming into the ring, carried himself so proud and moved with such grace showing lovely reach and drive. He was in strong condition with his coat and his muscle. He has a lovely masculine head into a good neck and forechest. The most solid topline, short coupled and great angulation fore and hind. Not a lot not to like in this boy and was easy to award him BOB. 

2nd – Hightyne Fly Me To The Moon – tough competition in this class today – a shame for him to meet 1. Preferred the profile, neck and topline of 1 today but nonetheless was impressed with this boy, especially given his veteran age which did not show when watching him on the move. Well put together and in lovely condition for his age. A lovely boy to watch in the ring.
