Irish Wolfhound

PG (1) 1. Gordon’s MIllarton Jane’s Girl. Sweet 2 year old brindle bitch of reasonable size and substance. I liked her balanced headpiece which was of good shape, in proportion to body with pleasing eye and kind, gentle expression. I would have preferred greater length of neck to enhance overall outline, but it was set well into shoulder, flowing cleanly through withers into a firm topline although I would have liked to see more rise over the loin. Her angulation fore and aft was complimentary with good ribbing and coupling holding it all together. She is still young and far from fully mature needing to fill out a little more in front and elbow. Sound and steady on the move with an easy, ground clearing length of stride. She was calmly and patiently presented by a handler making his debut. I hope they continue to show gaining greater experience and confidence together. Although stood alone I had no hesitation in awarding her Best of Breed. O (2 1) 1. Gordon’s Millarton Jane’s Girl.

Leonberger

PG (2) 1. Buchwald’s Alfross Tulabo Deganwy. Fairly compact 3 year old girl who presented a smart and elegant outline in profile although not quite in full coat. She was not the biggest or most substantial but generally all of a piece standing on good straight legs and pleasing feet. Feminine head with good length of muzzle, lovely eye and dentition. Neck was clean of correct length and set well into wither and shoulder with good length of leg to depth of body. Her topline was true and carried through well into croup and tailset. Moderate hind angulation. She really came into her own on the move, despite the small ring, with an effortless, easy gait in profile with pleaslng action on the out and back. She did press hard in the challenge but I felt she could not match the height to length ratio or overall substance of the Best of Breed winner. 2. Moulsdale’s Cookie Bombs Leo From the Old Oaks to Berglowe JW (Imp Deu). 2 year old male who was much bigger and stronger all through than the winner. Expressive headpiece with black mask which was generally well proportioned to be in keeping with body. Well laid shoulders although I would have liked greater length of leg and more width in front, but he still has time to fully mature. Good ribbing and depth of body, full croup and pleasing hind angulation with pleasing muscle at rear. Enthusiastic and purposeful on the move in profile but needs to tighten in front and back which may come as he fills out and finishes.

O (1) 1. Moulsdales Kalizmar the Aviator of Berglowe JW. 22 month old male who I have judged as a puppy and he has grown on to be of impressive size and substance. Showed today in terrific condition and coat with lovely bone. His head is very strong, but not out of proportion to body with lovely dark mask and eye. Excellent dentition. Lovely neck of correct strength and length flowing nicely into withers. He scored in shoulder and width of front which complemented his good hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle, although I would have preferred a slightly stronger topline. He was pleasing to go over with good ribbing and loin, he was presented in lovely coat. Sound and steady mover he was quite true coming and going with pleasing carriage in profile. His overall imposing outline gave him the edge in the challenge where I was pleased to award him Best of Breed.

Giant Schnauzer

P (1) 1. Rawsthorne’s Witcher Blade. Black male of almost 9 months who presented a reasonably square outline. Very showy youngster with typical head and expression from good head planes and alert expression. Excellent dark eyes and dentition. Clean through neck and withers with excellent firm topline. He stood on a straight front with good feet and pleading jacket. Angles back and forth are fairly equal but I would like slightly more return of upper arm. Obviously needs to develop more depth and width of front as he matures on but there is plenty of time for that. He was put down in hard muscular condition and pleasing to go over. Strong mover with good head carriage and ability. Although he stood alone he was very worthy of Best of Breed and Best Puppy.
