Mid Western Gundog Society

Breed: Any Variety Gundog Classes

Show: Mid-Western Gundog Society

Date: Saturday 4th July 2026

Judge: Mr Bob Lane (Kulawand)

Thank you to Mid-Western Gundog Society for inviting me to judge the A.V. Gundog Crufts 2027 Qualified classes. I was privileged to have 80 entries in 5 classes and lots of fabulous exhibits. I also had 3 excellent classes of AV Setter or Pointer; again, with some excellent gundogs. This show is always a very friendly society that truly enjoys holding a proper gundog show. Thank you to my superb stewards for organising the ring so competently.

A.V. Gundog Crufts 2027 Qualified

Puppy (27 entries, 13 abs)

1st Falconer’s Siatham Esmerelda

A lovely pale golden retriever bitch full of promise. She is nicely angulated front and rear with the most excellent round neat feet. She is well off for bone and substance and she moved soundly for a young bitch. Standing she has a very good outline with a very good future.

2nd Irshad’s Droveborough Super Trooper

A liver and white pointer male with a super masculine head. He is well of for bone with his straight front legs. He also has the most very well bent stifles and his hocks are well let down onto the most neat feet. He also is a very good mover.

Junior (15 entries, 7 abs)

1st Lewis’ Zenevieva Million Dollars For Fairwinds (AI) (IKC)

This golden retriever bitch was shown in very good coat and handled well. She also has very good angulation and well-muscled stifles. She won this class on her excellent movement.

2nd Prangle’s Heathclare Faberge

I was very impressed with this Irish Setter bitch since she is good in all of her outline but she does need to gain more maturity. When she does, she will be even more outstanding! She moved out very well with a good reach and stride.

Graduate (19 entries, 14 abs)

1st Foreman’s Ambersun Winter Treasure

A very pleasing mid-gold golden retriever bitch with a very impressive feminine head with good pigmentation. She is very well made with good confirmation fore and aft and shown in good coat. Very impressed with this bitch; she is good in muscle-tone and standing, has correct confirmation.

2nd Sainsbury’s Elskerwood Silver Lining

A 2-year-old clumber spaniel bitch with a good reach of well-muscled neck into well-laid shoulders. She is also well off for bone and has the neatest well arched feet. She has a rolling gait with her long body, so she was excellent on the move.

Open Dog (7 entries, 1 abs)

1st Stilgoe, Stilgoe, Fox & Fox’s Teisgol Magic

A black and white 2-year-old pointer male with very good oval bone and quality well-muscled substance. He has a good reach of neck into well shoulders and a good return of upper arm. He was very well handled and lovely on the move which made him winner of this class.

2nd Bradley’s Sh Ch Highforce All Of Nothing JW ShCEx OSW

This Hungarian Vizsla was also very impressive and he is very close to the first position. His coat is short and dense with a good shine and good quality. Again, like my first place, this dog has excellent movement.

Open Bitch (12 entries, 6 abs)

1st Watts’ Oakmarsh Little Acorn JW RATN

A quality Chesapeake Bay retriever bitch with a feminine head and dark eyes. She has a good dense coat. She is very well angulated fore and aft. Lovely well-webbed feet and she has good reach and drive on the move, which makes her a very efficient mover.

2nd Peebles’ Seashaw Too Much Heaven JW

This German shorthaired pointer bitch has a good outline and she is well off for bone and substance. However, since she is around 18-months-old, her skin over her shoulders should tighten as she matures. Apart from this she is very impressive and when she gains her maturity it should be beneficial to her.

A.V. Setter Or Pointer

Puppy (8 entries, 0 abs)

1st Norbury’s Heartbury Caraxes

A very pleasing orange and white 8-month-old male pointer who has very good angulation fore and aft. He is also well off for bone and is shown in very good condition. His head is masculine and balanced from skull to foreface with well-defined stop. His movement was very good with a driving hind action giving him this class.

2nd Brock’s Zoalin Whiskey Glasses

This male pointer puppy was also lovely and very well made. He has good angulation fore and aft and his body is quite well muscled for a youngster. He moved well with no mistakes but he is not quite as impressive as my first-place winner. As he matures though, I am sure he will become stronger in movement.

Yearling (5 entries, 3 abs)

1st Prangle’s Heathclare Faberge

I was very impressed with this Irish Setter bitch since she is good in all of her outline but she does need to gain more maturity; when she will be even more outstanding. She also moved out very well with a good reach and stride.

2nd Wright, Stilgoe, Stilgoe & Fox’s Teisgol Aurora Borealis At Abbothagg

This young female pointer needs to mature in chest to reach her elbows. Nevertheless, at present she has good confirmation with well-laid shoulders and a well-bent stifle. Her hocks are well let down and back pasterns straight. Her feet are well arched and neat. She moved out well today but as she matures, she should become more powerful.

Open (2 entries,1 abs)

1st McDonald, Westwood & Westwood’s Roanjora Cremant De Savoie Avec Eusanit JW

This Irish red & white setter male has the most impressive outline when standing. His movement is very impressive with good reach and powerful drive. This quality male should be made up - but today he was a little unsettled and did not stand well to be gone over. Nevertheless, no one can deny he is a quality dog with a very bright future once settled. My Best Any Variety Setter or Pointer today.
