I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club for the kind invitation to judge the Gundog breeds today, specifically the Labrador Retrievers and Flat-Coated Retrievers. Whilst it was unfortunate that some exhibitors were unable to attend, it was nonetheless a rewarding and enjoyable appointment.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the exhibitors who presented their wonderful dogs and accepted my placings in such a sporting manner. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Lorraine Tooth and Nicola Smith for their excellent stewardship and for ensuring the ring ran smoothly throughout the day.

LABRADOR RETRIEVERS

CLASS 1 – MINOR PUPPY DOG/BITCH (3, 0)

1st (Best Puppy)

BILLS, Mrs Becky & BILLS, Mr Thomas – RUMHILL JAGERMEISTER

An eight-month-old chocolate dog with a nice head, not overdone for his age. Good length of muzzle with the correct eye shape and colour, giving a kind expression. He has a clean neck leading into well-laid shoulders and a good topline. Nicely balanced with correct front and rear angulation. Well presented in a good, harsh coat and stands on good bone with ample length of leg and neat feet. He moved well with his handler and showed himself to good advantage.

RISTORTO, Mrs Rachel & RISTORTO, Mr Vittorio – NEATHERDENE QUEENSBERRY

A seven-month-old yellow bitch of lovely type and full of promise. She has a sweet feminine head with a gentle expression, lovely pigment and the correct eye shape and colour. A nicely balanced baby, not overdone for her age. She stands on straight forelegs with ample bone and neat, tidy feet. Presented in a good coat.

DARWESH, Mrs Jo & DARWESH, Miss Eliza S – TISSALLAN SWEET TREAT FOR ELIZAD

A 26-month-old yellow bitch. She has a pretty feminine head with a pleasing expression, good length of muzzle, correct eye shape and colour, and neat, well-set ears. A clean neck flows into well-laid shoulders. Good depth of chest with a nice spring of rib, correct front and rear angulation, a good coat and a level topline. She carried her tail well on the move and stands on neat, tidy feet. Handled very well and moved soundly, maintaining a balanced outline throughout.

BROADBURN, Ms Anna, LAWSON, Mr Tim & SARTI, Dr Niko – LANDEBEC EL OSO TIPIBEAR

A yellow dog of two years and four months with a masculine head, good stop and pleasing expression. Clean, strong neck set into well-laid shoulders with a level topline. Good rear angulation, strong bone and good length of leg, standing on good feet. He moved well on his second circuit, although I would have preferred his tail carriage to be a little lower.

HALL, Mr Bob, IVES, Mrs Lorraine & HALL, Mrs Diana – IVYRAINES STORM IN A TEACUP

CLASS 6 – POST GRADUATE DOG/BITCH (2, 0A)

1st (Reserve Best of Breed)

AYRES, Mr C J & AYRES, Mrs P – MUSUBI WHO DARE WINS

A black dog rising three years old. He presented a lovely overall structure and a confident, full-of-life personality, although he gave his handler a bit of a hard time today. His masculine head is well balanced with the rest of his body. He has ample depth and width of chest, a good spring of rib, and is well balanced in both front and rear angulation. Good length of leg, strong bone and neat, compact feet. He settled and moved much better on his second circuit.

2nd

HALL, Mrs D – HANDIALLA LOCKDOWN GIRL

A five-year-old yellow bitch with a feminine head, good length of neck flowing into well-placed shoulders, a level topline and a neat tail set, which she carried well on the move. She has ample bone, good length of leg and stands on good feet. Unfortunately, she was not happy with me going over her hindquarters today.
