Thank you to the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation to judge at this Premier Open Show and their hospitality on the day, and to my stewards, Andrew and Thea, for keeping the ring running smoothly. Also, thank you to the exhibitors for their support, I had some lovely dogs to judge and thoroughly enjoyed my day.
Beauceron
SY: (5,1) 1st Gould & Rollason’s Merdelaine Cime Du Diable, 8-month-old harlequin dog who appealed for his overall balance. Promising head of good length and width, with equal length of muzzle and skull. Super eye of good shape and set correctly, ears of good length and strong muzzle. Strong neck into a good front, with good return of upper arm. Level back and strong loin. Super bone and feet with well angulated hindquarters. Lovely on the move. Happy to award Best Puppy and Puppy Group 3.
2nd Harrell & Branchflower’s Beaukita's Ava's Endeavour, 13-month-old black & tan bitch of stronger build and wasn’t helping her handler on the move today. Good head with lovely ears and eye. Ok for bone with good return of upper arm and well angulated behind. Not easy on the move today but balanced once settled, and I saw enough to place.

Super shaped eye but I would have preferred a touch darker. Good ears. Well laid shoulder with good return of upper arm with balanced rear angulation, good topline and depth of chest. Balanced on the move.
3rd Dandridge’s Beaukitas Hyde Park Cot 3 Nhat Csau

L: (3,1) 1st Elbereth Nuka JW, 2nd Proctor’s Alkantara Talvi Hamara with Cathbri, 4-year-old brown wolf sable bitch. Finer in build than the winner, lacking in coat today and a bit of a handful. Lovely eye with a well-filled muzzle of good shape but slightly longer in muzzle than I prefer, and larger in ear. Nice depth of chest and level back, moderate front angulation and well angulated behind, but a touch close behind on the move.
O: (1) Proctor’s Ir Ch Bridus Ihana with Cathbri ShCM. Tricolour bitch of nearly 14 years old and a real credit to her owner. Super type with a super eye and muzzle and well-set ears, although slightly fine. Good neck and back, well angulated with good bone. Understandably showing her age on the move but it was a pleasure to award her Reserve Best of Breed.

Good outline with level back and good depth of chest. SV: (4,4)
Pastoral Group
This was a lovely group to judge, full of quality, and I make no apology for the largish shortlist! In addition to my winners, I shortlisted the Smooth Collie, Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Australian Shepherd Dog, Briard and Bearded Collie. Each one of those on another day could have been a winner but on moving them again, my winners were 1st Brigginshaw’s Domburg Just Love Me at Cashele, Belgian Shepherd Dog (Tervueren), 14-month-old red bitch who I have admired since I first saw her in an open show group in December. She has a lovely head, a balanced, long wedge with a super almond eye and high set ears. Her outline is lovely, with a medium neck, short back and short loin, good depth of chest and spring of rib. Front and rear angulation are moderate and balanced with a well laid-back shoulder and good return of upper arm. In super coat and condition, she moves so effortlessly. It was a pleasure to award her Group 1 in this lovely group and an absolute thrill to watch her take Best in Show later one. Well done, and the best of luck with her in the future.
2nd Lambert’s Sturtmoor's Gon'n Dun It JW, Norwegian Buhund, 2-year-old wheaten dog who again really impressed on that final run round. Standing he is built so nicely with a square, compact outline. Masculine wedge head with good width of skull with parallel planes of skull and muzzle and a super dark eye and high set ears of good width at the base. Good bone and feet with moderate angulation front and rear. So balanced on the move, with an active stride. Pleased to award Group 2, I was told later this gave him his final points for his Show Certificate of Excellence, very well deserved!
3rd Taylor & Taylor & Michalski’s Pol Ch Dom Corgi Easy Boost, Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), 6-year-old brindle & white dog, one I’d not seen before but what a lovely example of the breed. Super head of good size and proportions, wide flat skull and strong shorter muzzle, all tapering gradually. Kind dark eye and large, well-set ears giving a kind and alert expression. Strong neck into well laid-back shoulders and super return of upper arm, good depth of chest and prominent fore chest. Strong, level back and strong hind angulation with well set tail of good length. Moved with ease, with drive from the rear, keeping his topline well. A well-deserved Group 3.
4th Preddy’s Royales Adventure Yosemite with Overhill (Imp Usa), Beauceron, as before and a worthy Group 4.
Pastoral Puppy Group
A smaller group with some lovely puppies to choose from. Taking top spot was 1st Rojowska’s Dynar Lady Slipper to Arcticuno, Samoyed, 7-month-old white bitch with bags of promise. She has a lovely, feminine wedge head with a flat skull of good width and a muzzle of good width and length. Her eyes are a lovely, almond shape set obliquely which, when combined with her neat, wide set ears give that typical Sammie smile and expression. Lovely outline with a good length of moderately arched neck, level back and depth of chest, with good length of leg and super angulation front and rear. She moved effortlessly, in balance with good length of stride and drive from the rear. On her toes throughout to take Puppy Group 1, best of luck with her in the future.
2nd Cowley’s Sparkaway Gets My Goat CPW26, Australian Shepherd Dog, 11-month-old red merle dog who have seen so many times from the ringside, it was lovely to get the chance to go over him today. He is so balanced throughout with a lovely head with a square, flat skull, slightly rounded at the edges and muzzle of equal length. His outline is super with a good length of neck and firm back with such a level topline. Well angulated front and rear with super bone and feet, with good depth of chest and short loin. He stands and shows so beautifully and is effortless on the move. A close decision between 1 & 2, the Sammie had that touch more sparkle to send into the big ring, but this was a very well-deserved Puppy Group 2, and Adult Group Shortlist. Best of luck with him in the future.
3rd Gould & Rollason’s Merdelaine Cime Du Diable, Beauceron, as above and pleased to award Puppy Group 3
4th Jenkinson’s Tybury’s Arya’s Legend for Ellishar, Bearded Collie, 10-month-old blue & white bitch. Lovely head of good size and proportions with a square flat skull and muzzle of equal length. Lovely outline with good length of neck and level back. Good spring of rib and short, firm loin. Well laid-back shoulder and good return of upper arm with good bone and feet. Gently sloping croup and low set tail reaching below the hocks. Well angulated behind which all allowed her to move with reach and drive. A worthy Puppy Group 4

2nd Morgan’s Lornstone Sijur, German Shepherd Dog, 2-year-old black & gold dog. Lovely wedge head of good length and proportions. Well angulated front and rear and balanced on the move with reach and drive. I would have preferred a slightly straighter back.
