I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this well-run show, and for their warm hospitality throughout the day. My sincere thanks also go to all the exhibitors for accepting my decisions and for bringing such a quality entry under me. I was fortunate to have my hands on some excellent dogs, alongside many youngsters showing plenty of promise for the future, which made for an enjoyable day's judging. Finally, my grateful thanks go to my hardworking and efficient ring stewards, Graham and Jan, who kept everything running smoothly and ensured the day progressed without a hitch.

Bracco Italiano Post Graduate (3,3)

Bracco Italiano Open (6,5)

1st – Newman-Jones, Mrs Keeley – OLYMPOS IL MIO ELIO DEL SOLE HAUNSPERG (IMP DNK). Attractive 3-year-old orange male of good size with pleasing overall balance. Masculine head with good planes, strong square feet and sound construction throughout. Moved out well with a free, efficient action, making good use of his rear angulation. BOB BIS

German Longhaired Pointer Open (3,1)

1st – Thomson, Sarah – LUX CH IR SH CH SARSCOTTAH FEARLESS FLAME IR JNR CH. Strong, masculine male, a little up to size but well put together. Carries a powerful head, presented in good coat and hard condition. Sound enough on the move and deserving of the class win. BOB

2nd – Thomson, Sarah – LUX CH IR SH CH SARSCOTTAH ECLIPSE C/W 25. Quality 3-year-old bitch who appealed for her overall type and feminine outline. Preferred her in many respects, but she was rather unsettled on the day which affected her performance and presentation.

German Shorthaired Pointer Puppy (1,0)

1st – Hill, Mr. & Mrs. Dianne – ORCHIDSTAR RUBY SUNDAY. Well-balanced 8-month-old bitch with pleasing proportions. Good tailset and carriage, moving freely and confidently for one so young. Promising youngster with a bright future. (BPIB)

German Shorthaired Pointer Special Yearling (4,2)

1st – Stewart, Mrs V – MAGREGOR TAKE IT ALL OFF LEVAGRAD JW NLJCH NLJW25. Well-muscled 18-month-old bitch of good size and substance. Sweet feminine expression, balanced outline and particularly liked her tail carriage. Moved soundly to take the class. (BOB)

2nd – Winkler, Mrs Alison – CHEVINPOINT LIME MEADOW. Two-year-old brown roan bitch of pleasing size and shape. Moved out well with a balanced action. Would prefer firmer condition and slightly better tail carriage to complete the picture.

German Shorthaired Pointer Post Graduate (5,1)

1st – Brown, Ve & Ef – MONTALBA MISS ACHING. Well-made 3-year-old bitch of good size and shape. Presented in hard condition and the standout mover in this class, covering the ground with ease and purpose.

2nd – Brown, Ve & Ef – MONTALBA MUSTRUM RIDICULY JW. Three-year-old male of good size with a masculine head, although just a touch strong.

German Shorthaired Pointer Open (10,5)

1st – Garvey, Mrs May – RICHTIG RAGDOLL JW. Attractive 4½-year-old bitch of good size with a balanced outline. Presented in hard condition and moved with reach and drive to secure the class.

2nd – Barnett, Mrs Rhona – SH CH MAGREGOR HOWL TO THE MOON OVER TIBERTICH JW. Quality 3½-year-old bitch sharing many virtues with the winner. Just lost out on movement on the day but otherwise a worthy exhibit with much to admire.

German Wirehaired Pointer Open (1,0)

1st – Hogg, Miss J – M-FRIVILL AT CAPPERCLEUGH (IMP NOR). Four-year-old bitch with a strong topline and well-developed body. Excellent rear angulation and presented in good condition, moving out with drive and purpose. (BOB)

Hungarian Vizsla Puppy (2,0)

1st – Walker, Miss Judy – BUTTERFLY HUNTER PANCAKE. Smart 9-month-old bitch already of good size with pleasing proportions. Moved well with good reach and drive, and I particularly preferred her tail carriage. (BPIB)

2nd – Underdown, Mr David – KANDYMAL SWEET WILLIAM. Ten-month-old male of sweet temperament. Would like a little more size as he matures, but he moved well and showed plenty of promise.

Hungarian Vizsla Special Yearling (5,2)

1st – Murray & Parker, Miss C & Mr W – SZELKIRALY'S FOOLPROOF JW. Twenty-three-month-old male of good size and correct proportions. Steady, easy mover with a balanced outline and enough quality to head the class.

2nd – Obrien, Miss Elizabeth – SOLETRADER ROCKIN ROBIN. Thirteen-month-old male who is a touch long in body which showed on the move. Still immature and should benefit from further development with time.

Hungarian Vizsla Post Graduate (5,0)

1st – McBeath, Mrs Susan & Mr Peter McBeath – ROUGHSHOOT RED HOT FOR REDHUNT. Three-year-old bitch of pleasing size and shape. Moved easily and economically around the ring, her effortless movement proving decisive in this class.

2nd – Sharrocks, Mrs Catherine – VIZASH HUNOR. Strong 2-year-old male who moved well, although appearing just a little unbalanced on the day. He has many positive qualities.

Hungarian Vizsla Open (5,1)

1st – Mason, Clubb, C. D & D Clubb C Mason – OROSHAZA LUCY LOCKET. Seven-year-old bitch whose overall balance appealed today. Movement was a little erratic on the outward leg but settled well on the return and around the ring to earn the class. (BOB)

2nd – Aynsley, Gillian – JW VIZASH HEIRESS OF CAORUNN JW. Attractive 3-year-old bitch, just a shade longer in body than the winner and carrying slightly softer condition. Nevertheless, a quality exhibit with much to like.

Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Post Graduate (2,0)

1st – Eiders, Miss Jane – ENRYB EAT YOUR GREENS. Promising 7-month-old puppy with good harsh wire coat and correct furnishings. Symmetrical shoulders, pleasing outline and moved steadily for age, showing plenty of potential. (BOB BPIB)

2nd – Leslie, Miss Kiera – STRIPEHEAD IMPACT. Four-year-old male with plenty of drive on the move. A little under-conditioned today and would benefit from more body, but retains a pleasing outline and sound action.

1st – Leslie, Miss Kiera – STRIPEHEAD IMPACT. As Previous class.

Italian Spinone Special Yearling (3,2)

1st – Knowles & Glen, Mrs Sue & Irene & Mrs S Knowles Ms I Glen Miss L Malcolm – FIORALBA LETS GO ROUND AGAIN WITH BESSALONE. Fourteen-month-old orange bitch of good size and balanced proportions. Pleasing head planes and moved out well.. (BOB)

1st – Hutt, Miss Sally – KARANKAWA KASHIRA. Two-year-old bitch full of character and personality. Good size and shape with an attractive outline and plenty to admire.

Large Munsterlander Post Graduate (2,0)

1st – Murdoch, Margaret – ALMONRIGG ONE IN A MILLION. Impressive 2-year-old male presented in excellent coat and condition. Moved out with precision and accuracy, with better front construction than the second-placed dog. (BOB)

2nd – Dunsmore, Mrs Pamela – LERITON CENTAURUS. Fourteen-month-old male with much promise. Slightly straight in front and carried his tail a little high on the move, but should continue to improve with maturity.

Weimaraner Puppy (2,0)

1st – Alcorn & Ingram, Mr David & Gavin – GUNALT STIFF PEAKS. Seven-month-old bitch with an attractive outline and pleasing head that should develop well. Tail carriage a little high, but her shape and movement impressed. (BPIB)

2nd – Duffy, Mrs Lynn – MINSTERGATE HORIZON. Nine-month-old male, rather up to size for his age. Lacked the movement and ring presence of the winner today but has time on his side.

Weimaraner Special Yearling (3,1)

1st – Charlish, Mr & Mrs G & R – HARELFERG HAPPY HOUR. Twelve-month-old bitch of good size and proportions. Balanced throughout and preferred her overall outline and harmony, moving soundly to head the class. (BOB)

2nd – Maskell & Rayner, Susan, Georgia & Christine & C Rayner – ENJAGER ELEGANCE FOR BROWNBANK JW. Eighteen-month-old bitch, slightly longer in body than the winner and with a somewhat harsher expression. Good angulation, though stronger front feet would improve the overall picture.

Weimaraner Post Graduate (2,1)

1st – Charlish, Mr & Mrs G & R – GUNALT THE MORNING AFTER JW. Young male of good size and pleasing shape, presented in excellent condition. Moved well, although a rather high tail carriage detracted slightly from an otherwise attractive outline.

Weimaraner Open (11,7)

1st – McMahon, Mrs Patricia & Anthony McMahon – IR SH CH SILVERKELVIN JUPITER OVER MAGDALA VW. Eight-year-old male of ideal size with a pleasing, balanced outline. Good tailset and sound movement, showing the qualities expected of a mature exhibit.

2nd – Charlish, Mr & Mrs G & R – HARELFERG COOKSON. Four-year-old bitch of good shape and size. Moved well overall, although she tended to flick a pastern on the move which cost her against the winner.

1st – Craig, Beverley & Mhari Craig – SCALPSIE FORCE AWAKENS. Three-year-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever of good size and balance. Moved with precision, showing good rear angulation, tight feet and excellent tail carriage. (BAVNSC)

2nd – O Kelly, Ms Deirdre & Alan Hancick – COOLFIN THE ECSTASY OF GOLD AT CARADULIS. Two-year-old Irish Red and White Setter of good size. Slightly loose in topline today but moved out well with a pleasing, easy action.

AV Gundog Veteran (24,16)

1st – Mason, Clubb, C. D & C Clubb C Mason & E Findlay – SH CH OROSHAZA CHUKAR VW CW18.Outstanding 10½-year-old Hungarian Vizsla male who belies his age. Excellent colour, size and overall shape, moving with enthusiasm and soundness throughout.

2nd – Thomson, Sarah – ES/CZE/SWISS CH/IR SH CH SARSCCOTTAH CHARIZMA IR JCH LUX J DEU J W/JNR17 WW17/18/20/21/23. Lovely 9½-year-old German Longhaired Pointer bitch in excellent condition. Good size and shape with an impressive overall presentation and sound movement.

AV Gundog Champion (13,8)

1st – Mason, Clubb, C. D & C Clubb C Mason & E Findlay – SH CH OROSHAZA CHUKAR VW CW18. As previous. An outstanding veteran who continues to demonstrate excellent breed type, construction and effortless movement.

2nd – Stewart, Mrs V – SH CH MAGREGOR AMOURETTE AVEC LEVAGRAD CW26. Six-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer bitch with sound muscle tone and free, positive movement. Very well presented and showed to advantage throughout.

AV Gundog Special Beginners (15,10)

1st – Ruzsinszki, Rita & Lorenzo Ferrara – TOTTIE TANGO. Pretty 9-month-old Irish Red and White Setter bitch. Nicely handled and full of promise, settling as the class progressed to reveal plenty of quality.

2nd – McCulloch, Corrienne – DINNSEARMOR'S GLENLOCHY. Compact, square 5-year-old Hungarian Vizsla. Moved with greater freedom and confidence than earlier in the day, showing himself to much better advantage.

AV Gundog Minor Puppy(8,3)

1st – Giannetti, Mr Joe & Mrs E. Farningham – AFTERSHINE STAND AND STARE. Attractive 6-month-old puppy with pleasing colour and outline. Showed greater confidence on the move than her litter sister and handled the occasion well.

2nd – Hill, Mr. & Mrs. Dianne – ORCHIDSTAR RUBY SUNDAY. As breed judging.

AV Gundog Puppy (16,10)

1st – Givan, Miss Leah – SUDEO SASSY SAPPHIRE. As Puppy Group judging.

2nd – Hill, Mr. & Mrs. Dianne – ORCHIDSTAR RUBY SUNDAY. As Breed Judging.

AV Gundog Junior (10,9)

1st – Givan, Miss Leah – SUDEO GAME CHANGER. Nine-month-old black Labrador Retriever, a little heavy at present but well balanced throughout. A happy youngster with a positive attitude and plenty of ring presence.

AV Gundog GBAS Members Open (6,5)

1st – McGeachie, Mrs Patricia & Mr B McGeachie – LUX CH / IR SH CH MALBECMOGS LADY OF THE LAKE AT KLANHALLION. Up to size 2-year-old bitch with good forechest and well-sprung ribs. Moved out well with a positive attitude and clearly enjoyed her time in the ring, responding well to the atmosphere.

Best in Show – Newman-Jones, Mrs Keeley – OLYMPOS IL MIO ELIO DEL SOLE HAUNSPERG (IMP DNK). As breed judging. A quality exhibit who impressed throughout the day with his balance, breed type and sound movement, standing out to take the ultimate award.

Reserve Best in Show – Lewis, Mrs S & Miss M – FAIRWINDS IN SPACE MAN JW. Quality 3-year-old Golden Retriever of pleasing shape and size. Flowed effortlessly around the ring with a balanced, ground-covering action. Unlucky to come up against the eventual Best in Show winner.

Group 3 – Nesbitt, Mrs L A & Mr G J Nesbitt – CREEAARK AUSTIN HEALEY FROM CHABROUILLE SHCEX SH.C.EX. Well-made 3½-year-old Clumber Spaniel of correct size and proportions. Fit for function with a balanced outline and sound movement, giving an honest performance.

Group 4 – Knowles & Glen, Mrs Sue & Irene & Mrs S Knowles Ms I Glen Miss L Malcolm – FIORALBA LETS GO ROUND AGAIN WITH BESSALONE. As breed judging.

Best Puppy in Show – O'Neill, Mrs Diane – CHESTERHOPE AGENT ORANGE (ATC BC 33505NZL). Attractive 11-month-old orange Pointer, a little up to size but balanced throughout. Moved well and showed plenty of promise, and with maturity should have a bright future.

Reserve Best Puppy in Show – Todd, Mr David – CHATTAWAY VERA. Well-developed 11-month-old black Cocker Spaniel of good size and maturity for age. Balanced throughout and showed herself well to earn this award.

Puppy Group 3 – Eiders, Miss Jane – ENRYB EAT YOUR GREENS. As breed judging.

Puppy Group 4 – Givan, Miss Leah – SUDEO SASSY SAPPHIRE. Impressive 9-month-old black Labrador Retriever of good size and shape. Moved with confidence and purpose, presenting a very balanced picture and a worthy Puppy Group placing.
