Briard

Thanks to the Officer and Committee for the invitation to judge at this well run and organised show run as part of the large County show.  I am grateful for the generous hospitality on the day. Many thanks to my 2 efficient stewards Ian Biggs and Carol Moore for their management of the ring.

Thank you to the Briard exhibitors for their entries and the British Briard Club for supporting the entry, a small but quality entry and thank you for your sporting acceptance of my placings. I was pleased that the dogs were all shown with clean coats that were tangle free and they had clean teeth.  All dogs had the required double dewclaws on their hindlegs.

Puppy (3,1)

1 Parrys Stormymoon Is Enough, 11mth old fawn dog.  Well up to size, masculine, with outline that catches the eye for type and stands well over himself.  Has good width to skull, a muzzle that is strong and nicely in proportion to skull with defined stop.  Dark eye and well pigmented, ears set on high and correct bite. Liked his length of neck, strong bone and shoulder placement.  Has decent length of rib, strong loin and level back. Handled well to get him to show a free, smooth, ground covering gait. Best Puppy In Breed & Pastoral Puppy Group 4

2 Trimnell Vallonne Magical Flame 11mth old fawn bitch who presents a breed typical outline and very feminine. Has a lot of the required breed characteristics and close up to 1. Preferred the head properties and shoulder placement of 1.  Liked her length of rib, level topline and height to length proportions.  Handled and presented well but on the move felt she couldn’t match the freer longer reaching front action of 1.

1 Racks X’walter Des Etoiles Taquinantes(Imp Bel).18mth old black male.  Maturing well liked his size, body proportions and outline, very masculine. Has a good proportions width and length of skull, strong muzzle, dark eye, correct bite and ears set correctly.  Has enough length of neck, shoulders that well set on and with decent angulation. Has strong bone. Liked his length of rib which has spring and a decent depth of chest, strong loin and level topline. Moved with a free gait with drive from rear.  Pushed hard in the challenge for BOB but lost out to the slightly better head properties and more precise footfall of winner. Res Best of Breed
