I would like to thank the committee of Liskeard & District Canine Association for the kind invitation to judge at their Open Show. My sincere thanks also go to all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me, for their sporting acceptance of my decisions and for contributing to such an enjoyable day.
Veteran Stakes
1st Ch Dynar First Love – Samoyed
A very smart, well-presented Samoyed of striking, balanced outline, strong yet graceful and free from coarseness. She showed the characteristic alert, intelligent expression, proudly arched neck, deep chest, and profusely coated tail carried over the back. Moved very well with a free, powerful, and agile action, combining strength with elegance.

1st Blackvein Cupid at Janacop – Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund
Moderately long without exaggeration, compact and well-muscled with sufficient ground clearance for free movement. He displayed a bold head carriage, intelligent expression, strong forequarters and a firm, functional outline. The harsh, close-fitting coat, with pronounced eyebrows and correct beard, was a particular virtue. Moved well with a free, purposeful action and useful rear drive.
2nd Bryntreia Sea of Love - Whippet
A very smart and graceful Whippet, combining muscular power with elegance and a balanced outline built for speed and work. Long, lean head, small rose ears, elegant arched neck, deep brisket, firm back with a graceful arch over the loin and definite tuck-up. Stood naturally over plenty of ground and presented a refined, racey picture.

Whippet
Puppy – 1st BPIB & PG1 – Bodlon Love Walks In
A promising puppy, still developing but with much to like. Presented a balanced combination of youthful muscular power, elegance, and grace, with a long, lean head, alert oval eye, small rose ears, and an elegantly arched neck. The deepening brisket, graceful loin, and definite tuck-up already gave a pleasing breed-typical outline, while movement showed freedom of action. Best Puppy in Breed and Puppy Group 1.
Post-Graduate – 1st Saintharp Can’t Stop Me Now
Pleasing of good breed type, combining strength with elegance, and showing no exaggeration. Long, lean head, small rose ears and a muscular, elegantly arched neck led into well-laid shoulders. Deep in brisket with a broad, firm back, graceful arch over the loin and definite tuck-up; strong hindquarters completed the balanced, athletic outline.
2nd Duranridge Chic Shadow
Well-presented shown in good condition, with a clean, elegant outline and gentle, alert expression. Long, lean head, fine rose ears, arched neck, deep chest, and a pleasing sweep over the loin into a definite tuck-up. Stood over useful ground on oval, well-knuckled feet and made a smart overall impression.
Open Dog – 1st Saintharp Love To Believe
Winner of a very close class. A quality dog of good breed type, balancing muscular power with elegance and grace. Long, lean head, alert expression, small rose ears, and a strong, arched neck; deep brisket, firm back, graceful arch over the loin and definite tuck-up. Strong, broad thighs and sound construction gave a functional, athletic outline, while his assured ring presence secured the class.
2nd Corneire Learning To Fly
Another pleasing dog of good breed type, showing the breed’s characteristic blend of strength, elegance, and grace. Clean, lean head, fine rose ears, and elegantly arched neck, with good depth of brisket, a broad firm back, graceful loin and clear tuck-up. Strong hindquarters and a balanced outline enabled him to press the winner closely in a competitive class.
Open Bitch – 1st & BOB Galemira’s Pandora of Duranridge
A very pleasing bitch of ideal size, combining muscular power and strength with elegance and grace. Feminine, long and lean in head with bright oval eyes and fine rose ears; long, elegantly arched neck, well-laid shoulders, deep brisket, and a firm back with a graceful arch over the loin and definite tuck-up. Strong, broad hindquarters propelled her in free, flowing, breed-typical action to earn Best of Breed.
2nd Crosstop Save It For Me
Attractive and feminine with a long, lean head, alert oval eye, and small rose ears. Her elegant arched neck, deep brisket, flowing topline, and definite tuck-up produced a pleasing, balanced outline, with strong hindquarters and well-knuckled oval feet. She has much breed appeal but would benefit from further ring training to show her construction and freedom of action to best advantage.
Basenji
Open – 1st BOB & G2 Ch Justartee This Is Me JW
Full of quality and unmistakable breed type lightly built, finely boned and high on leg, presenting a poised, aristocratic, and gazelle-like picture. The well-chiselled head carried fine forehead wrinkles, small erect ears and dark, obliquely set almond eyes; the crested neck, deep brisket, definite waist, and tightly curled tail completed the outline. Moved correctly fore and aft with a swift, long, tireless and swinging stride. Close decision in the group.
Basset Fauve De Bretagne
Post-Graduate – 1st & BOB Mochras Mahqueen
A pleasing bitch with convincing breed type, short-legged and moderately long with the characteristic hardy, workmanlike appearance. Balanced head with lively expression, dark eyes, and correctly set ears; muscular neck, deep chest, prominent sternum, well-rounded ribs, and strong loin. Straight, well-boned forelegs and powerful hindquarters supported quick, nimble movement. Her dense, flat, very harsh coat and stronger presentation secured the class and Best of Breed.
2nd Mochras Marta
A lovely sort to go over, retaining many breed points, with a moderately long outline and characteristic rustic appearance. She had a balanced head, dark, lively eye, strong neck, deep chest and well-rounded ribs. Not quite matching the winner for presentation or overall breed type today.
Open – 1st Mochras Mahjesty
Sound and workman like rough-coated with moderate length and good substance. Medium, balanced head with a lively expression, muscular neck, wide deep chest, prominent sternum, ribs carried well back and a level topline over a strong loin. Could not match his kennel mate today for overall appearance and movement.
Beagle
Open – 1st BOB & G1 RBIS Ch Parkebreeway Rumour JW
An outstanding male of correct size, sturdy and compactly built, conveying quality without coarseness. Powerful yet clean head, broad nostrils, mild appealing expression and long, fine ears set low; sufficient neck to work a scent, well-laid shoulders, straight forelegs, level topline, chest below the elbow and well-sprung ribs. Muscular thighs and firm, well-let-down hocks produced sound, driving movement. Beautifully presented. Thrilled to hear he went on to Reserve Best in Show.
Ibizan Hound
Open – 1st BOB & G4 Ch L-Wynds Where The Shadow Ends (Imp USA) JW
A dog of excellent overall quality and clear breed type: tall, narrow and finely built, with the breed’s distinctive large, erect and highly mobile ears. Fine, long head, clear amber, almond-shaped eyes and a lean, slightly arched neck; prominent breastbone, long, flat ribcage, short coupling and well-tucked waist. Long, lean limbs and a hard, close coat completed the athletic outline. He moved with the characteristic suspended trot, showing a long, far-reaching stride and slight hover.
2nd Ch Afildor Room On The Broom ShCm ShCEx VW
Bitch who is an older veteran who retained the breed’s dignified, finely built outline, and remained sound and active for age. Long, fine head, expressive amber eye, and large erect ears, with a lean arched neck, prominent breastbone, tucked waist and long, straight, lean hindquarters. Still capable of the breed’s light, far-reaching suspended trot and presented in firm, functional condition.
Sloughi
Open – 1st & BOB IR Ch Aabidah de Polvo Magico (Imp Aut) ShCEx
A beautiful Sloughi in profile, elegant, racy, and strong without coarseness, showing the square proportions and muscular leanness required for sustained effort. Long, refined wedge-shaped head, oval dark eye, close-folded ears, and a strong, elegantly arched neck; prominent sternum, fairly flat ribcage, definite tuck-up, short muscular loin, and evident pin bones. Less convincing when moving away, where the rear action could have been cleaner and more precise, but her breed-typical outline and quality merited Best of Breed.
Dachshund (Long-Haired)
Post-Graduate – 1st Ranglewood Xmas Cracker to Riveroyal
A pleasing dog of balanced proportions, with a compact, well-muscled body, adequate ground clearance, and a proud head carriage. The smooth coat was soft and straight, with attractive feathering, and movement was free and flowing.
2nd Davydon Ocean Breeze
Another worthy dog, showing a moderately long, functional outline without exaggeration, a firm topline and good forechest. Displayed the required intelligent expression and moved with a balanced, purposeful action.
Open – 1st & BOB Pettigans Viva La Vida by Riveroyal JW
A quality bitch of excellent breed type, compact and well-muscled with sound construction, sufficient ground clearance, and a bold, dignified carriage. The soft, sleek coat and full feathering completed the picture, while the free, flowing movement and evident drive earned Best of Breed.
Dachshund (Min Long-Haired)
Post-Graduate – 1st Belvydach Cupids Chokehold
A pleasing dog of balanced proportions, compact and well-muscled with sufficient ground clearance and a bold head carriage. The soft, straight coat and attractive feathering completed a typical picture, while movement was free and flowing.
2nd Minard Whispering Angel at Treranch JW
Another sound, breed-typical bitch, showing an intelligent expression, firm topline and good forechest. Moved with a balanced, purposeful action and was presented in pleasing coat.

A quality dog of compact, functional construction, with adequate ground clearance, a proud carriage, and a well-balanced outline. The soft, sleek coat and full feathering were most attractive, and the free, flowing movement earned Best of Breed.
2nd Abbilis Maleficent at Treranch
A pleasing veteran retaining good type, with a compact outline, intelligent expression, and attractive feathering. Moved soundly and with purpose for age.
Dachshund (Smooth-Haired)
Post-Graduate - 1st Raajput’s Dancer Divaa with Trisensara JW
A well-balanced bitch of good breed type, moderately long without exaggeration, compact and well-muscled with useful ground clearance. The short, dense, smooth coat was in excellent condition, and movement was free and purposeful.
2nd BPIB & PG2 Clentry Walking in Memphis
A promising puppy with a pleasing, functional outline, adequate ground clearance, and a bold, intelligent expression. Still developing but moved with good freedom and drive to earn Best Puppy in Breed and Puppy Group 2.
3rd Jaxinorydax Gossip Gal
Open – 1st BOB & G3 Ch Chidax Sahara Sand by Trisensara JW
An outstanding bitch of excellent breed type, compact and powerful with balanced proportions, a firm topline, and strong forequarters. The close, glossy coat enhanced the clean outline, and sound, free movement with good drive earned Best of Breed and Hound Group 3.
2nd Rayol Pumpkin Pie at Jaxinorydax
Another pleasing bitch with a moderately long, functional outline, good forechest and sufficient ground clearance. Presented in excellent coat and moved with a balanced, purposeful action.
Dachshund (Min Smooth-Haired)
Post-Graduate – 1st Kenleap Moon Hero
A pleasing sort to go over, compact, and well-muscled with balanced proportions, sufficient ground clearance, and a bold, intelligent expression although slightly larger in ear. The short, dense coat was smooth and glossy, and movement was free and purposeful.
Open – 1st & BOB Midlandbulls Willow at Jaxinorydax
A quality bitch of clear breed type, showing a compact, functional outline, good forechest, firm topline and adequate ground clearance. The sleek coat and sound, flowing movement completed a worthy Best of Breed performance.
2nd Glynlythes Heirloom for Devondax JW
Another well-balanced bitch with a pleasing head and intelligent expression, compact body, and clean, glossy coat. Moved with soundness and purpose, maintaining a functional outline.
Dachshund (Min Wire-Haired)
Open – 1st & BOB Janacop Sweet Child of Mine JW
A sound, breed-typical Mini Wire, moderately long without exaggeration, compact and well-muscled with sufficient ground clearance for free movement. Bold head carriage and intelligent expression, with a long conical head, strong jaws, prominent eyebrows, broad mobile ears, and powerful forequarters. The harsh, close-fitting coat, complete with beard and facial furnishings, was correct; a firm topline, strong loin and well-angulated hindquarters supported free, purposeful movement with useful drive. Best of Breed.
AVNSC Hound
Open – 1st Kirjojax Yeager - Deerhound
An elegant bitch of good size and bone, with an athletic outline, attractive head, strong neck, deep chest and harsh coat. Movement was easy, active and true.
