Coventry Ladies Kennel Society Open show 01-01-2026 Utility Groups & some Utility breeds
I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this popular open show. A huge thank you to all the exhibitors for bringing your dogs and braving the cold conditions in the hall particularly in the morning. I was really spoilt for choice in the groups with some quality dogs for me to judge and encouraging to see lots of promising puppies.

1. Dearn & Wheatley’s Rintintina’s Amaranthine at Roxxilu B. Two little sisters the first just had a little more confidence which was reflected in her movement with a particularly pleasing side gait. Compact and nicely balanced with a feminine square skull, with short and wide muzzle. Short back and nicely rounded over rump. Shown in lovely bloom and condition, impressed me to take BP and BOB.
2. Grange’s Rintintina’s Ambra B. This little girl just needs a little more time and experience, but she too has a lovely head, feminine and square in shape with good width and depth of muzzle and round dark eyes. Nicely made throughout, shapely body and well angulated. Not quite as co-ordinated when gaiting around as the winner.
PG (1)
1. Strickland’s Wynele Lady Crystal Melrose. B Pleasing for size and she appears to be a compact sturdy girl, could perhaps carry a tad longer neck. Feminine head, square in shape, round dark eyes and good ear set. Deep chest, nicely rounded over rump and good angulations fore and aft. Steady on the move.

1. Grange’s Prince Ali Konfident Step to Bosties (Imp UKR) D. Liked the size of this sturdy boy, compact and nicely balanced in profile with a well rounded rump and nicely angulated rear. Square masculine head with round eyes, neat well placed ears, and good width and depth of muzzle. Moved quite well once settled, couldn’t quite match the easy and graceful action of the puppy winner today. RBOB
2. Strickland’s Wynele Harvey Kelaston D. Bigger built lad, a little off square in profile and could have a fraction more neck to balance. Square masculine head, dark eyes and good ear set. Deep chest, well rounded rump and nicely angulated fore and aft. Good profile movement just a little close going away today.
French Bulldog

1. Hucker’s Ch Bevanray Terrypendry JW D. An eye catching pied male with plenty of substance and bone, he has lovely balance and is unexaggerated throughout. Super head, clearly masculine, correct ear placement, well shaped dark eyes and well placed nose with a good turn up and width of lower jaw. Shapely body, deep chest and gentle rise over the loin with corresponding cut up. Shown in great bloom and muscular condition. Sound and active on the move. BOB.
Miniature Schnauzer

1. Rose’s Winflash Jumping Jingle B. Feminine black girl with some more developing to do to her body and fore chest, as she appears a fraction leggy at the moment. She’s nicely conditioned and her head is of good length, neat v shaped well placed ears with the darkest of eyes. Moderate neck into well laid shoulders, firm top line and nice tail set. She moved well around the ring. BP
PG (7,4abs)
1. Gill & Tobutt’s Wallensis look What I Found for Geomondo JW D . Masculine p/s lad who showed himself off well. He had the best ear set and carriage in this class. Nicely proportioned and square in profile, ample neck and good shoulder placement, elbows close to his body, good rear angulation and he moved with confidence. Good length of head, ample neck, good body and spring of rib, and good rear angulation. Quality well trimmed coat. Moved out well with good reach and drive.
2. Butler’s Penbro Replica for Devorasjoy B. Feminine p/s girl with neat, high set ears, and a keen expression in her dark eye. I initially thought she might be my winner as I just preferred her size and she has a very attractive profile, sightly sloping top line, deep chest and good angulations fore and aft, but she wasn’t quite so steady going away on the move as the winner today, her profile gait had good reach and drive and she was shown in a very good coat which was well trimmed.
3. Saunders’ Cleopatra Thea B
O (5,1abs)
1. Copper’s Violis Poetic Haiku for Copellastar JW B . A nice even class, but this p/s girl caught my eye as soon as she came in the ring. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, a solid deep body with a good fore chest and tuck up with a nicely sloping top line all topped off with a quality well trimmed coat. Very good mover, free and easy with good reach and drive. BOB
2. Copper’s Mary Well Around Copellastar B. Close-up to the winner and very similar in type and outline, she could perhaps carry a fraction less body weigh to advantage but she has a pleasing sturdy body, with a slightly arched neckline flowing into well laid shoulders and strong top line, good depth of body and spring of rib with ample fore chest. Feminine well shaped head, neat ears with dark eyes giving a keen expression. Quality well trimmed coat. Moved out with ease. RBOB

Not quite settled as her brother on the move but once she settled down she moved with a brisk stride.
