Chesterfield Canine Society

Thanks so much to all the committee at Chesterfield CS for the invitation to judge Beardies and to my stewards for a well run ring. I was spoiled for choice with some excellent dogs to choose from and that puppy class was just something else! Between a beautiful entry and the incredible catering, this will go down as one of my favourite shows! 

Puppy (8, 1 abs)

Incredible class, so much quality and all were very “good”.

1. STEAD’s, Clovabrae Romeo

7 months, slate dog. I thought straight away that he was a nice shape on the stand. He has a gorgeous, balanced head, with an enquiring expression. Good body proportions and a deep long rib. Angulation all balanced front and back and he demonstrated a promising length of stride. He is so young and he showed plenty of promise today. I will be keen to see him again with a few more shows under his belt as you can just tell he has more up his sleeve.

2. BUTLER’s, Clovabrae Echo at Baxilby

7 months blue bitch with so much to like. She is also just learning the job but was able to show off some nice movement. Similar to 1, I loved her head and expression. She has a lovely reach of neck and a nice forechest. Rear assembly balances to the front and she made good use of herself on the move.

1. HURRY’s, Breaksea Time to Dazzle at Alcheringa

2 year old, brown bitch who is in the midst of changing to a nice harsh coat. She has a nice head, good dentition and eyes that tone with the coat. She has good shoulder angulation and a good forechest. Her rib shape is correct and she has a short hard loin. In fact, she is in good, hard muscle all through but she did not demonstrate her best movement today as she was busy checking out the smells.

1. CARTER’s, Memorylane Emotions in Motion for Ravenswyre (Imp Fin)

2 year old, slate dog with a really lovely head. It is strong in your hand but with a soft, enquiring expression. He has a nice reach of neck into a strong, well muscled frame. He has plenty of coat and it is harsh in texture. I won’t go round and round talking about each of his attributes but I will say his movement is really “his thing” and he spoiled us today in our generously sized ring. RBOB

2. BUTLER’s, Calowych Moana at Baxilby

4 year old, slate bitch who really left an impression on me. She had, in my opinion, the nicest expression of the day. I loved the planes and balance of her head and I loved her soft eyes. She has nice proportions on the stand with a good harsh coat. It's unfortunate that she did not use herself to her advantage on the move but I like her anyway!

1. CARTER’s, Jaroca Josephine at Ravenswyre

3 year old, slate bitch with so, so much to like. Her head is strong with a feminine, alert expression and she manages to share lots of personality just through looking into her eyes. She has a nice reach of neck into well laid shoulders. She has plenty of forechest and good ribbing. She is well angulated all through, is well muscled and demonstrates good reach and drive covering plenty of ground. In my opinion this girl is in her prime. BOB

2. SKINNER’s, Dychix the Rag Nymph

5 year old, blue bitch that I really love. She has a nicely made head and a soft, enquiring expression. Nice flow of neck into shoulder. Long deep rib with a short loin. She has a good shape, proportions and strength of body overall. This girl moved out really well, her movement is really something to behold but I just felt she couldn’t match the front extension and topline of 1 today.
