I’d like to thank the committee for their kind hospitality and putting on a lovely show. Thank you also to my fantastic stewards and the exhibitors who gave me a fabulous entry, with some close decisions and great sportsmanship. A truly cherished chapter in my judging career.

1) Twinning’s Tamjenta Ghost Protocol At Kaycee 11 month flashy youngster with pleasing overall proportions. Strong head and dark eye. He has good angulation both front and rear, with nice depth of chest and length of rib. He moved out well and looked balanced both in his stride and in profile. Nicely presented and handled to get the best from him.

1) Osborne’s Potterdale Prime Edition 13 month masculine boy with a broad head and strong muzzle, good dentition and underjaw. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders and deep chest. Held his topline well coupled with a firm muscled rear whilst light on his feet. Presented in excellent condition.

1) Carter’s Memorylane Emotions In Motion For Ravenswyre JW (Imp Fin) 23 month slate. My notes say ‘impressive lad’ and on examination he did not disappoint. Strongly made masculine male with a good head and super eye leading into a nicely arched neck and well laid shoulder. Deep chest, good length of rib and short loin with a well-muscled rear. Moved out well and immaculately presented.

2) Buswell’s Chelsasa Private Eye On Scotesham 19 month brown. Finer in type than my class winner going through the coat change, but showed his balanced unexaggerated proportions throughout. On the move he was a little unsettled and I preferred the reach and drive of my class winner.

1) Newson’s Beardora On The Huh 3 year old slate who although stood alone, presented a pleasing profile on first impressions. Balanced head, kind eye and excellent dentition. Good front assembly with length of upper arm and lay of shoulder. Correct length of rib, strong topline and balanced rear angulation to match with good muscular condition. Moved out well and presented in good condition with coat to match.

1) Collins’ Full Of The Dickens Winner Takes It All For Kingswud JW (Imp Deu) 2 year old slate who is maturing well. Correct head proportions, pigment and dentition combined with a dark eye and kind expression. Good length of neck leading into correct chest and shoulder placement. Solid topline which showed a strong profile on the stand and beautifully presented. Rear angulation to match front and in fit condition. On the move he was fluid and in harmony with his handler.

1) Bowden’s Subessen The Wonder Of You JW 2 year old blue who I last judged as a puppy is maturing well. Nice masculine boy with a good head and strong muzzle, good dentition and underjaw. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders, correct length of upper arm and deep chest. Held his topline well coupled with a firm muscled rear. Just needs to mature in coat but this accentuated his balanced construction as he flowed around the ring in harmony with his handler and pushed hard in the challenge.

2) Griffiths’ Chyanullys Finest Hour At Whizzbomb 5 ½ year old slate who certainly enjoyed his time out in the ring today. Eye toning with coat and excellent dentition, a finer type to my winner but his overall proportions were good overall. Correct shoulder placement and good length of rib with a strong topline allowed him to show what he can do on the move when he settled.

1) Bramley & Moore’s Coalacre Do The Hokey Cokey Rising 4 year old slate coming into his own. Last judged him a couple of years ago and liked him then and can see he is maturing nicely, looking in good coat and beautifully presented. Super head, dreamy expression with a dark eye that draws you in and then your hands flow over him. Nicely well-laid shoulder and good length of upper arm. Deep chest, correct length of rib, short loin and well-muscled rear which enabled him to flow around the ring with effortless balanced drive, strong topline with a real lightness of foot showing his ability to be absolutely fit for function. Loved him. BD/BIS

2) Carter & Palmer’s Burnhock Perfect Diamond Of Woodacre 6 year old gorgeous brown of super coat. Lots to like about this lad and a super shape on first impressions. Another with a very good head and although slightly finer and flashier than my class winner your hands flow over nicely angulated shoulders, lovely length of rib and a rear to match his front. Lovely to watch when settled on the move-hope to see him out more.

1) Skinner’s Tamjenta Bendelacreme 5 year old masculine blue. Good head, super expression with strong muzzle and jaw. Nicely arched neck leads into good shoulder angulation and a deep chest. Good length of rib, coupled with a short loin into a well-muscled rear allowed him to drive on the move making good use of the ring to show this to his advantage. RBD

2) Buswell’s Corimist Soul Legend Of Scotesham 11 year old slate. Good head, pigmentation and a lovely dark eye. He is balanced in himself with a good length of rib and strong topline. Such a happy boy in the ring which can deter from assessing his movement which today was a little off key.

1) Trodd’s Chelsasa Open Secret 4 year old brown. Another with nothing to hide and in profile looked balanced in a nice free stand. Good head, with eye toning to coat. Well laid shoulders and deep chest, good length of rib and balanced rear angulation to match his front. Can stride out but tends to go into obedience stance which can throw the picture. Cannot deny the brain and attentiveness to his handler here as a very good all rounder across disciplines.

Special Champion Dog/Bitch 5 (1)

1) Rivers’ CH Orora’s French Silk At Merrimak JW ShCEx OSW 4 ½ year old slate. One that I have judged before and she simply oozes quality. Pleasing head of good proportions, strong muzzle and excellent dentition finished with an enquiring expression. She is really nicely balanced as predicted by her construction. Well laid shoulder and length of upper arm with correct angulation both front and rear. Nice length of rib with short loin, good rear muscle tone and neat hocks. Comes into her own on the move in her lightness of foot with lengthy strides which allowed her to flow around the ring.

2) Betts’ CH Pipadene Xtraa Hint Of Chili JW 4 ½ year old slate who I was very happy to finally get my hands on. Another quality bitch who is elegant and graceful both on the move and in profile. Correct head, excellent dentition and strong jaw to match. Well laid shoulder placement and length of upper arm, equally matched rear with nice neat hocks. She shows strength yet retains femininity holding her shape with fluent and steady movement and as always, immaculately presented and handled. Just preferred the drive of my class winner today.

1) Ayrton’s Briarsfield Little Swan At Aoibh 7 months slate. Sweet feminine girl with a cheeky expression. She has good angulation both front and rear and very nicely balanced allowing her to move smoothly and freely. She showed maturity in her showmanship whilst sympathetically handled. Loved her. BPIS

2) Brooks’ Briarsfield Dark Butterfly For Fraglestone Litter sister to 1 with many of the same appealing qualities. Slightly flashier than her sister she again is well balanced and with lovely bond with her handler. Preferred the reach and drive of 1 today.

3) Emmingham’s Briarsfield Frizzy Lizzy

1) Fox’s Braemoor’s Fortune Favours At Bushblades (Imp Ned) 11 month slate. Both finer and plainer in type she has a lovely dark eye Another feminine slate of good proportions throughout. Nice head, dentition and pigment. Good length of neck into sound front assembly. Deep chest, good length of rib and short loin with nicely muscled rear. Moved out positively to win this class.

2) Butler’s Clovabrae Echo At Baxilby 7 month blue who got better in her confidence from the previous class. Good head and dentition with a balanced outline and good angulation both front and rear. She settled and strode out in this class to show off her movement to win her place.

3) Webb’s Malandex Xquistly So At Wigglebrooke

Junior Bitch 4 (1)

1) Lewis & Moreland’s Potterdale Prime Rose JW 14 month slate. Good head, lovely dark eye and expression. Good lay of shoulder into deep chest, nice length of rib and short loin, equally matched with an equally matched rear. Balanced and light on her feet on the move. Beautifully presented.

2) Macdougall’s Irisaddition Simply Lovely For Clanmac 13 month brown going through the pale coat stage. Another pretty bitch with nice head proportions, strong muzzle yet sweet expression. She is balanced in herself, showing sound movement in all directions showing positive drive, I just preferred the reach and overall proportions of 1.

1) Brookes’ Brookles Barkarole 20 month slate who took my eye today as soon as she entered the ring. Super expression with a hint of cheek and a slight wagging tail commanding my attention. Beautifully balanced in profile, on examination she did not disappoint. Strong yet feminine head, dark eye with a strong muzzle and jaw. Nicely arched neck into good lay of shoulder and length of upper arm. Deep chest, good length of rib and strong loin, well-muscled rear and low hocks. On the move she excelled, showing real reach and drive simply getting better each time she moved resulting in her winning this class and overall BB. Really pushed hard in the BIS challenge. BB/ RBIS.

2) Mitchell’s Beabeardies Grace Kelly 20 month slate going through the pale coat change but this accentuated her qualities with nothing to hide. Really sweet feminine girl, whose overall proportions matched her balanced action on the move from all angles.

1) Horne’s Potterdale Solitaire Of Mintaria 2 year old slate. Balanced throughout with a strong head, yet feminine expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and equally matched rear angulation giving her the balance she displays on the move. Graceful mover with lovely attention to her handler.

2) Wood’s Osmart Tzara’s Midnite Aria 5 year old slate. Honest, unexaggerated girl with lots to like. Shown in fit, hard condition she certainly was enjoying her day out. Correct shoulder placement and upper arm with a nicely muscled rear she can move out when she puts her mind to the task in hand.

Post Graduate Bitch 4 (1)

1) Atkins & Charles’ Clanwillow Crown Of Roses For Snikkles JW Rising 3 year old slate who is maturing nicely. Super overall outline in free stand, strong yet feminine head and dark eye. Soundly constructed she is well balanced both front and rear, short loin and correct croup. On the move she showed flowing reach in her stride from all angles maintaining her topline throughout. Immaculately presented.

2) Fooks’ Moonhill Blissful Dream 4 year old slate. Another well constructed bitch with a super expression, well laid shoulder placement and length of upper arm. Good depth of chest and length of rib with a firm short loin and muscled rear. Moved out well, just preferred the reach of 1 today.

3) Gilbert’s Bryonhill Secret Saturn

1) Bevis’ Beabeardies Cinnamon Girl 6.5 year old fawn. Not overdone or flashy, she is honest throughout and getting your hands on this girl allows you to appreciate her qualities. Liked her overall proportions with a lovely lay of shoulder and length of upper arm. On the move she showed both reach and balance, nicely driven from low hocks and a good tail carriage. Nicely handled and presented.

2) Swaby’s Kiltondale Hot Favourite For Marsby 4.5 year old slate. Another in this class that I have judged before and could easily change places. Darkest of eyes and lovely expression. Good front assembly with length of upper arm and lay of shoulder. Correct length of rib, strong topline and balanced rear angulation to match, this girl is another who is well balanced and I was pleased to feel that she has now matured in body. An easy mover around the ring, I just preferred the polish of 1 today.

3) Butler’s Calowych Moana At Baxilby JW

Open Bitch 5 (1)

1) Skinner’s Dychix The Rag Nymph 5.5 year old blue. Has matured beautifully since I last judged her. Feminine head with pleasing expression and exuding a gentle enquiring nature. An honest, sweet natured dog capable of doing a day’s hard work. Plain markings and a harsh coat that complimented the outline. Well laid-back shoulder with balanced angulation, good length of rib and depth of chest. Moved with drive to effortless strides to cover the ground. Always immaculately presented and in total harmony with her handler. RBB/RBBIS

2) O’Brien’s Another Posh Frock At Sammara JW 4 year old slate. Free stood to her advantage, she is another girl coming into her maturity and looking quite the picture. Correct head, super dark eye and excellent dentition. Deep chest she is balanced in herself holding a rock solid topline on the move. Always beautifully presented and in super coat, I preferred the length of reach of 1.

Well-laid shoulder placement and length of upper arm equally matched rear with nice neat hocks. She shows strength yet retains femininity holding her shape with fluently light and effortless movement and as always, immaculately presented and handled. Pushed hard in the challenge. BVB BVIS

2) Carter & Palmer’s Nellbrook Incantation Of Woodacre 8 year old slate. Not one that I have judged before but she caught my eye on the first go round. Pretty girl with a good head, super dark eye matching coat. Liked her overall proportions with a lovely lay of shoulder and length of upper arm. On the move she showed both reach and balance, nicely driven from low hocks and a good tail carriage. Super dark coat to finish the picture.

3) Harkin’s Corimist Galway Girl At Claudalla

1) Bevis’s Beabeardies. Well schooled duo who were handled to work the ring to their advantage. Nice to see them in unison, just would have swapped them over at this stage, whilst the youngster masters her ringcraft.

2) Butler’s Baxilby. Well done for having a crack at this (braver than most)! Two nice dogs who tried to work in harmony here and showed glimpses of what they could do, just need a bit more practise.
