Crystal Palace Canine Association: General Open Show

I would like to thank the committee and organisers for the invitation to judge. I had an enjoyable day and felt the overall quality of dogs was high. Well done to the organisers for putting on a well organised and successful day. Thanks go to my steward for keeping the ring in order and volunteering her time today. 

HOUND GROUP : 

1st SLOUGHI Woodgate, Boggia & De-Souza’s XANDU KHAN SCHURU-ESCH-SCHAMS: SLOUGHI. This hound’s overall condition and presentation could not be ignored. Lean flat muscle, effortless movement and that haughty attitude that allowed him to take command of the ring instantly. HG 1, BIS & RBVIS

2nd RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK: Barn’s, DIAMONDRIDGE DREADNOUGHT JW: A substantial hound with masculine head and good pigmentation, nicely muscled and presented in good fit condition. Movement was free and active, with straight forward motion that was well driven from the rear, allowing him to cover the ground with ease. HG 2

3rd GREYHOUND: Boggia’s BOUGHTON BACK FOR GOOD JW: I liked her overall shape and balance, presented in good fitness and condition, her movement was free and this allowed her to cover the ground with ease.  

4th IRISH WOLFHOUND: Wilkinson’s RAINSTER EILEX AMONG HUNACRES: Graceful with easy and active movement that allowed her to cover the ground with ease. Balanced outline both standing and on the move, dark eye and feminine features. A pleasure to go over and see her move out in the ring. HG4

HOUND PUPPY GROUP: 

1st DACHSHUND (MINIATURE LONG) Phillips, SUMMERVIEW LUCY LOCKET: I liked this puppy a lot, she handled the larger ring with ease and showed off her free flowing movement, she covered the ring with ease due to her powerful rear movement and nicely muscled rear. A pleasure to award her HPG1, a bright future ahead of her. 

2nd BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN (PETIT) Guernari & Dane’s, SOLETRADER BASIL FAWLTY: A very promising youngster, free moving with good drive, straight front action with good extension in both front and rear. Presented in rough coat condition without exaggeration. A substantial hound, nicely balanced. HPG2

3rd DACHSHUND (LONG-HAIRED) Clarke’s, BRIARMIST FIRE AND ICE TO TEKALHAUS (IMP AUS): A confident mover that continued to demonstrate driven movement. A pleasure to award HPG3

4th BEAGLE Poulter’s, ROSSUT IMOGENE QUEEN: A compact and sturdy puppy, merry disposition. Nice head planes and balanced proportions throughout. Free striding with long reach in both front and rear. Well driven from the rear, sound and true coming and going. Covered the ring with ease, a promising puppy. HPG4

DACHSHUND MINIATURE LONG HAIRED

Puppy (1,0)

1. Phillips’, SUMMERVIEW LUCY LOCKET: Black and tan in good coat condition. Moved soundly with drive from the rear and reach Infront. A very promising youngster that really shone in the puppy group ring. Movement was more settled and presented a balanced outline both standing and on the move. Feminine head with dark eye and pigmentation. I shall look forward to following her in the future. BPIB & HPG 1

Junior (3,0a)

1. Neasby’s, ERINSHORE RED ROBIN FOR ULANI: Nicely ribbed back with good ground clearance. Moved soiundly with reach and drive. Held topline throughout.   

2. Fairchild’s, FINDOWRIE FIELD OF DREAMS AND RESTINIM: Just out of puppy and needs time to fully mature. Plenty of coat in good condition. Preferred the movement of the 1st place. 

3. Lander’s, SONGBIRDIE IN THE THISTLE

1 Spicer & Swanston’s LITTL FUT MOON SILVER: 5 year old Silver Dapple , presented in good coat condition and attractive head planes. Feet full and close knit, moved soundly and showed reach and drive. 

Open (2,0a)

1. Fairchild’s RESTINIM MR PIP : Well balanced, nicely ribbed back. Held topline on the move and showed reach and drive. Attractive head with dark eye and good pigmentation. BOB

2. Spicer & Swanston’s LITTL FUT MOON SILVER: As 1st in PG, I preferred the substance and shape of the 1st place.

Puppy (2,0)

1 Barnes’ KENBLOOM SNICKERDOODLE AT FIZOENA: Well ribbed back and presenting a balanced outline. Moved soundly and shows promise. A nice youngster. BPIB

2 Revell & Gladwish’s, HUBJENS ASTRAEA: Nicely muscled for age, happy disposition. Would prefer more length of ribbing.  

Post Graduate (3,1a)

1 Butterstone’s, JOSHOTTO MARTHA GUNN: Balanced and well ribbed back black and tan. Driven movment and parallel both coming and coming. Held topline on the move and presented in good condition. Would prefer more ground clearance. BOB

2 Barn’s, DON’T STOP THE MUSIC FOR FIZOENA: sound mover and nicely ribbed back, held top line on the move. Preferred the outline of the 1st on the move. 

Open (2,0)

1. Rose’s PENNYDACH MYSTIQUE AT ROSENCRANTZ VW: Black and tan, nicely ribbed and balanced. Moved with drive and sound parallel movement coming and going. Held topline on the move. RBOB

2. Rose’s VEEDERHALL LULLABY : Nicely muscled and well ribbed back, sadly dropped topline on the move.  

DACHSHUND MINIATURE WIRE HAIRED 

Junior (2,0)

1. WEST & SEXTON’S BIMINI NIGHT SKY WITH ARCHIDAX: A promising youngster presented in good harsh coat. Well ribbed back and balanced proportions, well driven from the rear with good front extension. Parral movement coming and going. 

2. Rose’s ROZAMIE REFLECTION OF ROSENCRANTZ: Presented in harsh coat of good texture. Well ribbed back but would prefer more length of upper arm.  

Post Graduate (3,1a)

1. Peek’s MIKWOOD’S MAY ZE: Balanced and well ribbed back, good length of upper arm that allowed for reach at the front on the move. Well driven from the rear and parallel movement coming and going. Would prefer more length of muzzle.  

2. Rose’s MERRYLINE MARTHA WITH ROSENCRANTZ JW: Nicely ribbed back but preferred the front angulation of the 1st. 

Open (3,0)

1. West’s CH ARCHIDAX DARK PHOENIX : Balanced and well ribbed back, presented in harsh coat and in fit condition. Free flowing movement that was well driven from the rear with good width of pelvis allowing full muscle. Parrallel movement coming and going. Seriously considered in the group, however she seemed a little unsettled on the move at that point. BOB

2. Peek’s MILKWOOD’S MAY BUD: A substantial dog presented in harsh coat and muscular condition. Moved with drive from the rear and covered the ground with ease. Parrallel movement coming and going. I preferred the reach and front of extension on the move of the 1st. RBOB

Post Graduate (1,0)

1. Ball’s, BOUGHTON BACK IN TIME: Presented in muscular condition and moved effortlessly. Symmetrical outline both standing and on the move, Deep chest and well ribbed back with good spring of rib. Would have preferred more drive from the rear, when in the challenge. RBOB.   

Open (2, 1a)

1. Boggia’s BOUGHTON BACK FOR GOOD JW: Litter sister to the PG and much the same applies. I preferred the low reaching stride of the Open winner and ability to cover the ring for the BOB challenge. Muscular yet graceful throughout, presented in good fitness and condition. Generous proportions and symmetry, shoulders clean and well laid back, deep chest and nice length of neck. Movement was free striding and well driven from the rear enabling a low reaching front action. Covered the ground with ease, which she continued to do in the group, awarding her HG 3. BOB & HG 3

AVNSC HOUND

Puppy (4,0)

1. Clarke’s BRIARMIST FIRE AND ICE TO TEKALHAUS : DACHSHUND (LONG-HAIRED): Balanced outline both standing and on the move, well ribbed back. Well driven from the rear with good reach in front, covering the ring with ease. Prominent keel, with correct front assembly Presented in good coat condition. BP (AVNSC) & HPG 3.

2. Vaughan’s CLANWILLOW GODDESS OF LOVE ODINSCHILD: BASSET HOUND. Well balanced with good substance throughout. Smooth and powerful movement, well driven from the rear and reaching well in front. Presenting correct outline both standing and on the move with stern carried well up.  

3. Jone’s CLANWILLOW LOVE AND DREAMS: BASSET HOUND

Junior (1,0)

1. Jone’s SOMETHING AUDATIOUS AMONG CLANWILLOW : DACHSHUND (WIRE-HAIRED): Balanced and well ribbed back with good muscle throughout. Moved with power and good reach and drive, covering the ring well. Coat presented in harsh condition. 

Post Graduate (5, 1a)

1. Falzon’s DOUCAI’S PRINCIPESSA XINI : PHARAOH HOUND: Nobel bearing with clean-cut lines showing power and grace. Free flowing movement with good head carriage throughout, covering the ground effortlessly.  

2. Wilson’s, DELSAUX HAPPY EVER AFTER: DACHSHUND (LONG-HAIRED): Well ribbed back with muscular rear presented in good condition. Dark eye with good pigment. Pleasing outline on the move and standing, just preferred the ring presence of the Pharaoh Hound. 

3. Lewis’s, OLPHAE GOVERNOR JW: Otterhound

Open (6,1a)

1. Woodgate, Boggia & De-Souza’s XANDU KHAN SCHURU-ESCH-SCHAMS: SLOUGHI. Elegant, noble and dignified with flat muscular leanness. Movement was free, smooth and effortless without exaggerated extension. This dignified hound presented a masculine head expression with long and refined muzzle, correct ear carriage and dark eye. A beaufitful outline that he held on the move. Fine pleats present under throat. This hound didn’t disappoint and commanded the ring with an air of nobility and Haughty attitude. I was delighted to see him awarded Best in Show and Reserve Best Veteran in Show BAVNSC , HG1, RBVIS, BIS.

2. Chapman-Reith’s HAYVENHUND HISSY FIT : DACHSHUND (SMOOTH-HAIRED) Black and Tan in good muscular condition, well ribbed back and well driven from the rear with ample muscle behind. Presented balanced outline both standing and on the move with pleasing keel and good ground clearance. RBOB. 

3. Apps’, CALICOE JUST ME: DACHSHUND (WIRE-HAIRED)

AV IMPORT REGISTER HOUND 

Open (1,0)

1. Searle’s STONEMARTIN BRON: AZAWAKH: Firstly, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to go over this beautiful hound. Although distant and reserved, as they should be, I was impressed with the sound nature and temperament. High on leg with lean elegance and flat muscle. Feminine head, lean and chiselled with good pigmentation of eye rims. Movement was supple with high front action, light and elastic. Best AV Import Register.  

AV HOUND VETERAN (20,4a)

1. Woodgate, Boggia & De-Souza’s XANDU KHAN SCHURU-ESCH-SCHAMS: SLOUGHI. Effortless movement and correct lean, flat muscle presented in perfect condition. Fine pleats under throat and beautifully balanced for this breed. A credit to his owner. I was delighted to see him awarded BIS & RBVIS 

2. West’s CH ARCHIDAX DARK PHOENIX Tannahill Bergen At Decalleigh: Dachshund -Miniature Wire. Well balanced and powerful movement, well driven from the rear. See also Dachshund Miniature Wire, 1st Open and BOB.  

3. Hick’s NUTHOUSE QUEEN OF CLUBS JW: RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK
